Flat Earth Theory / Re: Photo from Plane Proves the Earth Is Round
« on: November 29, 2024, 04:32:01 PM »
Everette, instead of uploading a clearly altered JPEG and a separate link to EXIF data (which had already expired), could you just, y'know, share the original photo? I strongly suspect you've made mutliple errors here, but you didn't provide enough data to scrutinise your work either way.

Also, crucially: if you want to be treated like an adult, you need to start acting like one. You've got a group of people who would normally jump at any opportunity to cheerlead for the RE crowd telling you you're wrong, and explaining why. You need to evaluate what they have to say, not just repeatedly state that you're bemused by it. Similarly, it would have been good if you familiarised yourself with previous discussions on this subject. Believe it or not, you're not the first person to take a commercial flight, and the question of how much curvature should or shouldn't be seen in either model is a stale subject. Stop acting like everything you do is special and unique, and start learning from those around you.

This is important if you want to make any progress here. Self-important declarations of who you will and will not talk to, as well as silly demands like "ask yourself what would convince you" just won't fly here. This is especially frustrating when you profoundly declare yourself to "not care for preconceived narratives", and then spend your entire time in this thread whinging about your own preconceived narratives. I'll start by politely asking that you never do that again. As I'm sure you know by now, these requests will get progressively less polite if needed.

Most likely not correct.  I did some searching but didn't come up a site where the subject of a round earth was the main discussion objective.
Metabunk. Please go to Metabunk. They'll love you there.

It's almost like introducing a two trillion dollar stimulus package in the middle of a pandemic was actually a bad idea! Biden thought he could copy and paste Obama's economic policies, seemingly unaware that an entire decade has passed.
Well, yes. You weren't hoping that I'd identify the "good guys" in US politics, were you?

It's difficult to "get", because the core MAGA electorate refuses to respond to reason. Not the people here, mind you - it's more the sorts who vote for an increase in the prices of everyday goods because everyday goods are too expensive. (I'm sorry you'll have to deal with the fallout, especially so in a poor state.)

To assume that people like this are a vanishingly small minority that won't amount to anything is a necessary self-preservation instinct. I'm sure the libs don't consciously erase that group - they just fool themselves into thinking that the world they were birthed into isn't quite this flawed. Similarly, to preserve their sanity, they look for excuses. No, it was the women who didn't turn out to vote. Nay, it was the blacks! Someone, anyone, please - there has to be someone that can distract from the fact that the majority of Americans have fallen so far from grace.

Ah well, it's another 4-year mega-recession, then 4-8 years of incomplete recovery, and then we can have a maniac in power again. A cycle as old as the US of A itself.

Looks like our senile democrat president, who you guys have spent years on this forum defending and campaigning for, has now given the go ahead for Ukraine to use US-supplied long range missiles against Russia.
It's about god damn time. I guess that's the result of Trump kicking things into gear, given that he recently spoke with both Biden and Zelensky. Maybe he's not so bad, after all.

So not "co-president." - Gotcha.
Yeah. Like I said - it's definitely exaggerated.

The benevelonce of a superior western civilisation located where the last two world wars started? That superior civilisation?
Prescisely. Don't forget the crusades - we've been rocking the bloodlust lifestyle long before you guys invented school shootings. All y'all'll catch up eventually.

It is spelled with a fucking "z" by the way.
See, this is what I'm talking about. So uncultured.

Not that I really care about Elon, but I doubt he feels scammed.
I don't think he feels scammed. He still thinks he's the First Buddy. But he's always been a little slow on the uptake.

contains a statement about some "theory" that Elon might become "co-President." Who the fuck was proposing that theory?
It's an interpretation of the hopes Elon had been expressing. Even recently he's been calling himself the "first buddy".

It's definitely exxagerated, but that's just how Americans talk - if we take every boisterous claim made by an American as a "lie", then Americans can't even buy groceries without lying through their teeth. They're just a fundamentally dishonest people, not ready for the benevolence of the superior western civilisation.

Wants to point out the DOGE has no budget. What if the work will be done with no paycheck?
That was part of a longer list of things that make DOGE "not a real department". The point isn't that things can't be done without a budget, but rather that even very unimportant departments do get one. By extension, DOGE is laughably unimportant.

Elon paid Trump for the privilege of prostrating himself, and he got scammed in return. It's a big win for Trump, who's always been good at this sort of manipulation.

I mean, most of what he offered was a lie.
Please call it out if you see it. What I found valuable was the explanation of just how little actual power he's been left with. Sure, Trump & co. might listen to him, but they also might not - pretty raw deal for someone who's sold his soul to the Republicans.

It seems that Donald Trump and Elon Musk have broken MSNBC.

Interesting analysis. I knew DOGE was a scam, aiming to keep Elon compliant, but I didn't realise its extent

Jimster, I'm gonna be straight with you. We've received a few complaints about you repeatedly starting threads that are either made in abysmally poor faith, or which are straight up rehashes of your old posts. I haven't acted on these. I am now, politely, asking you to stop. The next response will be proportionately less polite.

I note that the word children was avoided in this, so I will take the win.
I'm not sure I understand your objection. Do you think that, historically, people only turned out to be trans after they surpassed a certain age? If so, you only need to look to hijras to correct your mistake.

We can find plenty of gay acceptance in ancient civilizations
I mean, there's a good amount of acceptance for various forms of gender non-confirming people in history. Different cultures had different ways of interpreting the same issue (often by defining a third gender), but they're definitely present. If you're looking to learn more about this, you could start with the Indian subcontinent or native American cultures

Dude. Stop asking for permission to post. Read the forum rules, work out which posts go in which boards, and just start a thread whenever you're ready.

Oh, yeah, wild shit is about to go down one way or another. I dunno if it'll be martial law, but we mostly agree

he is DOING IT!!!!

Why? Trump won.  If he declares martial law, it'll be against his enemies, not you.
A80 is presumably suggesting that it could happen before the transition of power. I strongly doubt that it will.

Yeah. What I said more than 5 years ago in this thread appears to still be applicable:

If you have questions, simply ask them. Don't wait for someone to contact you and ask you what your questions are.

Thanks for reporting them. Each report sends us an e-mail, so there's no need to also post here. I cleaned it up as soon as I woke up.

Suggestions & Concerns / Re: ISSUE CONCERNING POSTERITY
« on: October 29, 2024, 10:55:39 PM »
Not an easy one. Images in posts are typically just links to external hosting - they're as good as the place the poster chose to upload the image to (or as good as the site they "borrowed" the image from).

I don't see a link anywhere in this post because, unsurprisingly, you found no supporting evidence for any of the points you have made.
Actually, I have provided links for the points I've made, and you even thanked me once for steering your straight. It's the points I haven't made that you're struggling with. :)

Such a shame that you weren't able to even highlight what you think you're responding to. I guess I have no choice but to accept that you were wrong on every point I've contested, since you're not counter-arguing, and therefore tacitly conceding.

Since your memory seems to be playing tricks on you, don't forget: in a week's time, it's Jizz for Jill!

So far, all you've stated is your opinion that a lack of evidence isn't a big deal
Could you perhaps show where I've stated that? You continue to mistake other people for me, and it makes you sound like Sleepy Joe. At this rate, you'll accidentally vote for the wrong candidate. 🙈
