Merc'd?

Is that drug boats run by mercinaries?  Or mercinaries attacking drug boats?

here is a less lazy answer since a lady said it for me and is reported by the AP but im aligned entirely.

I hope they collected evidence of drug smuggling better than they do of Illegals.

did you watch the video? i know keys of coke when i see them. that was the only thing of value that was lost...

edit — also the immigrant meme or fisherman meme is regarded so dont go down that path
I have not.
How do you know what a key of coke is, let alone what it looks like?

As for whats lost:
Intel on where they came from?  Unless they already know.

im sure someone disagrees
I wonder how he proposes to enforce this.  Will they check with the employer and their payroll to verify the immigrant is being paid?

Also: I'm not against it.

uh oh trump did a gooder thing that neolibs have been screeching about from the moment it was announced. ill wait patiently for folks to remind me why crime is a good thing instead of acknowledging the fact that orange man did a thing that actually benefits regular every day people. i havent doomscrolled enough yet to see people calling the DC mayor an uncle tom by now for giving credit but im sure i will run across it soon enough.

https://x.com/calebhowe/status/1960776811257704919

https://crimecards.dc.gov/stolen%20autos:crimes/all:weapons/1:year%20to%20date/citywide:heat

Down 122 from last year to date (1.1.2024 - 29.08.2024) (1.1.2025-29.08.2525)
So the overall total from year to date isn't far off.

I'm not sure that 80% is accurate.

But let me check 09.08.2024 - 29.08.2024 had 312 motor vehicle thefts.
Same date range a year later: 185
Which appears to be a 40% reduction.

Still significant.  But that's to be expected since soldiers are patrolling.  Probably would have gotten the same results if you had that many cops patrolling.

But this prove it.  Trump should send soldiers to EVERY SINGLE TOWN AND CITY!
We need MARTIAL LAW!

Then crime will be 0.

That's how it works, right?

Does anyone here truly believe Epstein kept a clean little notebook of his clients?

It's honestly a tossup in my head.
On one hand: he's doing super illegal things with other people who do not want evidence of the super illegal stuff.  And he wants repeat customers.

On the other hand: a little black book (well, evidence really) gives you leverage against them should they try to harm you.

But we have the victims.  We can just listen to them and go with that.

Remember that guy?
Yeah, apparently they decided that his crimes were... Not severe so they're asking him to plead guilty and in exchange they'll send him to Costa Rica instead of Uganda.

Because sending him to his home country is no longer what they wanna do.  And its either a 3rd world African nation, or Costa Rica.

https://www.politico.com/news/2025/08/22/ghislaine-maxwell-jeffrey-epstein-donald-trump-interview-00520352

If you believe this, you are a moron. Maxwell has already been given a carrot in the form of a sudden transfer to a cushy Club Fed, and she's clearly angling for a pardon for Trump. Of course she's going to say that Trump is entirely innocent. Also, on a related subject:

https://www.pennlive.com/nation-world/2025/08/donald-trump-says-people-are-named-in-epstein-files-who-dont-deserve-to-be-its-a-democratic-hoax.html

While the story is ridiculous, as is everything Trump says in it, the most interesting part of it to me is this:

Quote
“You’ve got a lot of people that could be mentioned in those files that don’t deserve to be,” he added. “Because (Epstein) knew everybody in Palm Beach. I don’t know anything about that, but I have said to (Attorney General) Pam (Bondi) and everybody else, give them everything you can give them because it’s a Democrat hoax.”

This is almost subtle, at least for Trump, but he's once again doing something he did repeatedly in his last term - positioning one of his underlings to take the blame for something he's done. I don't know anything about the Epstein case. It's Bondi's responsibility, not mine. Now, I'm not saying that Trump is definitely going to accuse Bondi of either a cover-up or an elaborate hoax and blame the entire Epstein fiasco on her. He might not have to. But he is laying the groundwork for it, meaning that he considers it an option. This tendency of Trump is arguably the most indefensible part of his presidency. Regardless of what your political or social beliefs are, the idea that a leader takes responsibility is a cultural universal, and a leader who refuses to take responsibility and instead blames the people under them is rightly condemned by everyone. And when I say everyone, I really do mean everyone. I have no respect for a leader who acts the way Trump does, and neither do you. Yes, you, hypothetical Trump supporter. You wouldn't respect a football coach who acted this way. You wouldn't respect a store manager who acted this way. You wouldn't respect a mayor or governor who acted this way. Tell me that you think that Trump is being a good leader and an honorable man when he blames his subordinates and insists they shoulder the entire blame whenever the scandals get too heavy to ignore, and I'll call you a liar to your face.

Look at the wording.

"Never observed"
"Inappropriate setting"
I'll have to read the full transcript but this sounds like very diliberate wording to not fully exonnerate him if he back stabs her.

Also:
Quote
Maxwell insisted she was unaware of any sexual contact between Epstein and minors or any other type of “non-consensual” sexual activity. But she said she now recognizes some of those things may have happened outside her presence.

Like you said, if you believe this interview, you're an idiot.

What secure documents?
The schedule.  While not classified as top secret, was not public and thus should not be in any public system.

What insecure network?
The hotel.

What the fuck are you rambling on about, other than your regular stream of faux outrage over shit that never actually happened.

You don't know anything if you are claiming any of the crap in this NPR article is actually classified, especially since all of the info is "after the fact."
Fact: a secure document does not need to be classified under the secret or top secret filings to be a secure document.  The president's medical records, for example, is a secure document but not classified by the military.

In this instance, the schedule was not public nor meant for the public at the time of printing and is thus a secure document.

So am I.

Where is the failure in IT security?
Connecting a government laptop to an insecure network or device.
Or
Logging unto a secure account with an I secure PC.
Or
Sending secure documents to an insecure email system.

Take your pick because they can't print those papers at a hotel without doing one if those things.

The absolute incompetence and utter stupidity of the Trump administration are the only things protecting us from its unrepentant greed and corruption.

Why the fuck would they print anything confidential on a hotel printer?!

What, did they hook their laptops up to the wifi?
GOT 'EM!

LMMFAO!!!
I'm triggered by IT security failures.

Fun fact: Russia has mail in voting.  Limited but it's there.

Well, the hits just keep rolling.

Apparently Trump wants to remove mail in voting AND voting machines.

Because Putin told him to.

https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2025-08-18/trump-assault-on-mail-in-ballots-and-voting-machines
“Vladimir Putin said something — one of the most interesting things. He said, ‘Your election was rigged because you have mail-in voting,’” Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in an interview.

But hey, apparently the two elections he won were rigged in levels never seen before.  Not even in Syria where armed guards shoot you if you don't vote for the right person.

The pre-planned display of F-22s, the random B-2/F-35 flypast, were nice reminders of US military dominance, but as soon as Putin arrives on the carpet it all starts to fall apart.  He's like the ubiquitous, inadequate, school bully.  He bullies his global peers, he bullies his opponents, he bullies the other branches of government, he bullies his cabinet.  Suddenly, with Putin, it's like his Mom's in the room; "Now Donald, play nicely with Vladimir".  What's Putin got on him?

At the "press conference" he surrenders the lead to Putin, then the normally loquacious Trump rambles on for 2 or 3 minutes about how well it all went, having achieved diddly.  (Remember the Kim Jon Un 1-on-1 btw?  The secret agreement which is still so secret you might think it doesn't exist?).

On a cognitive note, did you notice how he praised Putin's entourage, but couldn't remember Sergei Lavrov's name?  "That guy there, see his face ....".

Because Trump has no leverage.
Like literally 0.
No threats.
No promises.
And mineral rights is pointless since the alternative is Putin takes the whole country, including all the minerals.

Taking a shot in response to a respiratory I'll ess does not work.
Since the study was about covid, its rational to assume you meant covid Illness.

If you meant ""covid shots don't protect against respatiry illness in general" then you're right because only an idiot would think that.  I assumed you weren't an idiot.  Was that my mistake?

What different conclusion did I come to, LD?

Enlighten us all.

That a covid vaccine doesn't work to prevent or lessen covid symptoms.
The study did not look at covid infections but general influenza episodes.

It's like looking at flu shots and seeing if it prevents you from getting a sore throat.

Now come the longer term studies and the truth of the foolhardy approach of taking a shot in response to a respiratory illness.

IT DOES NOT WORK!

You are more likely to get a respiratory illness if you get the shot for cofeve.

You seem to have come to a different conclusion than the authors.  How unsurprising.

You know they were testing for influensa symptoms and not covid infections, yes?  And only in healthcare staff.  And only in Switzerland.  And only those with 3 or less vaccine doses.  And only those who replied to more than half the questionier.  And only between 2020-2023.

And, of course...
The days reported for being sick are .. 0,1, >=2

So basically the vaccine could make you feel sick enough to miss work.

Of course most missed 0 days of work and had 0 episodes regardless of vaccine status.  So there's that.

This is simply not true at all. The government still can't control anything CBS does.
The FCC would disagree with you.
https://www.fcc.gov/media/program-content-regulations

Markjooooooooooooooo

Yeah, this.
The FCC can revoke their broadcasting license or deny renewals.  And while I'm sure there are rules about it but Trump's administration doesn't care about rules.

I wasn't aware that Trump created the FCC. I'm learning all sorts of amazing new facts today.

Anyway, if rules don't matter, then the Trump admin doesn't need or want an ombudsman. And since Trump admin rules don't matter, I'm guessing Trump already fired Powell, haha, because rules don't matter and what-not. I guess anything is possible in Dave's imagination-land.
Why would the creation of the FCC matter on who currently controls it?

And yes, they do not care about rules but they DO care about appearances and results.
If Trump fires Powell, the market could crash due to severe uncertainty or just knowing Trump would put in someone loyal and not competent and thus likely fuck things up for appearances.

Same with the FCC bit.  He could have the license just killed but that would be challenged in court and easily defeated.  But if he can have a 3rd party claim media bias and a violation of agreement... Especially if it makes CBS more Trump Friendly, that's a win on appearances.

I've no doubt, if the optics weren't bad for even his base, he'd have tried to directly silence his critics in the media.
