What's harder to explain is his legions of idiotic followers believing it.Whisper it quietly, but he might have got this one right.He was raised to believe himself to be the best. His brain is just broken and now everything has to be at the extreme. Either extreme great (because he's never wrong according to everyone he pays), or extreme bad (for everything against him).
The ceasefire is holding, for now. Early days yet of course.
And naturally he's going "laa laa laa, can't hear you" at all the intelligence indicating the striker might have not been quite as effective at obliterating the Iranian nuclear sites as he's claiming.
I wonder what is wrong with him that he has to always claim the superlative, always be so absolute. All the "they said this was the greatest..." stuff. Who are "they"? And was it the greatest? (That's just an example, not referring to anything specific, just generally the way he talks such utter bollocks all the time.)

Trump single-handedly and personally destroyed the Iranian Nuclear treaty in 2018. Nations all over the world had negotiated with Iran and curtailed Iran's nuclear research. We had inspectors on the ground in the Iranian facilities, we had cameras watching production equipment. A number of countries were surveilling Iran.
Then a fat, orange man-child came stomping through yelling about the deal wasn't tough enough. He didn't want Iran to have nuthin. He was going to put together a deal so tough that he would have those people helplessly under his thumb. Like everything else he does, it was a complete failure and Iran went back to building bombs. Now we're starting a war. Good work MAGA!

We had one in 1910 and then not till 1918
Similarly we had one in 1935 and then not again till 1945.
Just have a think and see if you can remember what happened in those periods (hint - 1914-1918 and 1939-1945) which might have made holding elections impractical.

Trump is a layman with no real knowledge of or interest in international politics. This is entirely because he likes Putin on a personal level and wants to impress him. Whatever pleasure he gets out of trying to please Putin is not something that benefits anybody but himself. A good leader would set their own personal feelings aside when making these kinds of important decisions.
Putin gave Trump a soccer ball to play with. That's all it took to win his allegiance.
Another aspect is that Trump really wants to be Putin. He wants to have his media in charge, he wants to incarcerate his political enemies and imprison people who make fun of him.

There is a greater danger in allowing fraud. The billions lost to government waste and fraud could be used to save lives elsewhere, such the homeless situation.
People lost around 40 - 50 billion dollars on meme coins in the last month. Just the money lost on meme coins from the Donald, Melania and their charlatan preacher would have fed a lot of homeless people. The good news is that being an incompetent buffoon, Trump couldn't execute a successful rug pull and the price collapsed before he sold. Only the devs that talked Trump into this stupid scam made money. We need to redefine fraud.
But it's all good, DOGE is spending millions of dollars a week rooting around in our personal data looking for fraud.

The power of placebo has been long documented but there have also been power of prayer studies (actual randomized, double blind) where patients who were prayed for show some statistical benefit from that prayer. Typically, these statistical successes are a very low percentage but high enough to defy random chance.
As much as I would like to poo-poo Tom's post, the fact is that there is a small set of findings that indicate there is something more to ourselves than our bodies. The body of evidence is small but statistically real, it won't go away even after being challenged by years of study and still can't be explained.
