Republicans take the house and senate.
« on: October 30, 2018, 11:30:45 PM »
I'm no cheerleader for the G.O.P but today they won their supermajority. It's all over but the crying. I guess they can thank CNN.

I watched the Cenk and Tucker debate and one of the things mentioned was that the press unwittingly and unwillingly helped Trumps campaign. Seems we didn't learn anything. I'm not sure what data the pollsters are looking at with their predicted split.

For interest here are the actual stats by race and accompanying sources.

It didn't have to turn out like this.

That graph has nothing to do with election results. I think that needs to be said. I for one welcome my republican neighbors. I can’t wait for them to enact the democratic platform of 20 years ago.

No one claimed it did. It has a lot to do with debubking the factual accuracy of Don Lemons claims.

I agree, it's sad that anyone right of Marx is now considered a Nazi by the Marxist left that the mainstream left seems to be pandering to.

Do you watch Tim Pool? It's been interesting and a little sad to see him continue to try and identify as centre left when he is accused of being a National Socialist by the Marxist left.

What are your predictions for the midterms?

I'm putting a bet on cash me in a few weeks lol, the odds for a Republican majority are getting tighter by the hour so get in quick.

Dropped from 14/5 to 13/5 in the five minutes I was on the site.

I’m not American so I don’t really follow so closely to call it, but if I had to bet I would say slim GOP majorities in both houses. Republicans are older and old people vote.

The title is misleading, as is the graph.

I thought the election was suddenly decided before the election.  Like the Republicans ignored the election and proclaimed victory.

The election has been decided. CNN decided it today. It's not my fault, I'm just commenting on it.

You'll need to wait until whites are a visible minority before the language that Don Lemon used and the Democrats approve of can be used while still winning elections.

We are not there yet, unfortunately, or fortunately. Depends on how you look at it.

Where exactly did this come from?

For one, the sources listed on the infographic are from 2001 and 2003 as applied to seemingly a 1982 to 2016 database.
For two, there is a Mother Jones Mass Shooting Database. But nowhere could I find a representation such as this.

Going forward, it might be better to be crystal clear on your sourcing when you claim anything as "the actual stats by race and accompanying sources".

Understood.

Again, where did you get the graphic from, what is the source of it?

I pulled up http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/12/mass-shootings-mother-jones-full-data

And looked at the whole data-set. There is a race column. But there is no way to extrapolate "Shooters of Arab ancestry..." out of the "White" set as mentioned in the infographic.

I pulled up www.census.gov/prod/2003pubs/c2kbr-23.pdf, one of the sources listed in the infographic.

It's titled, "The Arab Population: 2000", issued in 2003. How is that relevant to an infographic that spans 34 years?

1. Are you saying CNN decides all the election results?  Or are you saying that this comment by one CNN person changed every voter's mind to vote Republican?  Cause I'll need proof on either.

2.https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/10/30/don_lemon_the_biggest_terror_threat_in_this_country_is_white_men.html
Cherry picking a sentence fragment is crap.  Its not even a full sentence, just the first half.

His entire argument seems to be that angry, white men are the most dangerous mass shooter because no one is profiling them.  No one stops them at the border.  Cops don't pull them over for "routine" checks.

Which is true.  Put a white guy with a gun and a muslim guy with a gun in the same room and watch the reactions.

Muslim man is a terrorist.
White guy is "An American who exercises his 2nd amendment right."

Doesn't matter if both have a CCW.
Doesn't matter if both are good people.

A muslim WILL be looked at differently.

This is just normal, human behavior.

Also, your graph is shit because it skews the results to minorities.  1 arabic shooter is worth much more than 1 white shooter.
The conviction will get overturned on appeal.

I'm confused.  How can the republicans take the house and senate when they already have the house and senate? ???

They don't.  Dems are obstructing and using their minority powers to stop all republican bills and actions . Its unprecidented.

Umm...  Isn't that pretty much what the republicans were doing for 8 years when Obama was in office?

No.  That didn't happen.  Dems steamrolled everything and then the patriots stopped the worst president ever when they .could but fake news says otherwise.  Obama was the worst.

Not quite. Trump's first 500 days:

According to GovTrack, Trump has signed 176 bills since his inauguration. That’s about on par with Barack Obama at this point in his presidency (174), and slightly behind George W. Bush (187). But both Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush far surpassed those numbers in the pieces of legislation signed in their first 100 days, 262 and 309 bills, respectively.
