It appears that Trump is winning so much that he able to apply his policy influence even without being in office.

Mexico has broken up two caravans

Speaker of the House says Ukraine funding is likely halted:

Someone didn't read the article.  Or they did and are just as easily fooled as Trump.

1. Broken up two small caravans(totaling 4,000).  Which means they took them to various cities and gave them 20 day travel visas.  So they could go to the US border individually.
2. Another caravan was on its way to the US border already (2,000 people).  But hey, Trump did it!  He made Mexico do... nothing but easily trick Donald into thinking they did something.

it's his son and not a crony

Now this is funny.
Let's not forget in this case he pardoned Hunter to protect the "big guy."
How does that work?
Define "big guy," then an explanation would probably be easier, perhaps not even necessary.
I assume you meant Joe Biden.
But again, how would that work?  How does pardoning Hunter make Joe suddenly immune?

Oh shit, I just realized something...

What if Joe Biden uses this "blanket time" pardon stuff on Trump?  Like...

"I pardon Donald J. Trump for any crimes he may or may not have done from January 2016 to December 2024."

Republicans are already bouncing around on the time frame for Hunter but how would they reconcile Biden doing it to Trump?

Trump pardoned a load of his mates and cronies...
Call them "cronies," if you like, but the "press visible," ones all related to the RUSSIA, RUSsia, Russia, bullshit news cycle. None of those people deserved any sort of conviction to begin with (it was all made for TV).
That's as may be, but I still believe that a president should not have the power to unilaterally pardon - what Biden has done demonstrates why, it's a flagrant abuse of power. Pardoning is the sort of thing kings used to do, haven't we moved on from that sort of thing?

I suspect it was done as a balance of power.  Like if the courts make a federal law more strict than the president feels it should be, the president can effectively make enforcement worthless by pardoning anyone found guilty of it.

Biden pardoned Hunter.

Fuck Joe Biden.

Corrupt piece of shit!
Thank goodness we have a man of integrity coming in to take his place.
(But yes, I largely agree)

I just had a thought.

What if he did it to stop Trump from making an example of him?

Like Trump convinces the judge to impose some stupidly high punishment and then uses that as a political springboard to show how evil and corrupt all Democrats are?

Of course it's Mexico's fault if they suffer higher tariffs if they don't follow the president elect's demands to do more to stop the illegal immigration from multiple countries pouring through the Mexican border.

Mexico will suffer with those tariffs, not the US. There are several dozen industrialized countries with low cost of living and low wages which can provide those goods and take over what market share Mexico had. Prices in the US would be barely affected, so I don't know what you guys are whining about.

???
You... You uhh..don't know anything about scaling, do you?  Or contracts.

Also, the Mexican president appeased Trump by telling him what they've been doing this whole time.  Not 'we will' but 'this is what we are doing'.

Also, why would any country make a new trade agreement?  Trump doesn't even honor his own agreements.

Every major country in the world has industries for almost every sector. Mexico and China are specifically being threatened, not the world. If Canada and Mexico can't afford to compete then companies in other countries will take their pie.

The threats worked, since both Mexico and Canada called and groveled to Trump after he made that threat and pledged to work together on his concerns.

So... It's Mexico's fault for not being competitive when Trump forces an increase in price?  How does that work, exactly?

Also, did you not read the article?

I don't get why you even NEED emperical evidence.

Tariffs are literally a way to make a product more expensive.  That's the whole point of their existence.  The ONLY question you need to ask is if increasing the price for that specific good improves the economy of your nation or not.

Trumpers do not care.  The Trump Tarrifs could have caused them to lose their job and they would still vote for him.  It's brainwashing.

Long story short:
Most Republicans know Tarrifs will make things cost more.  But beating the Democrats was more important.  Brand loyalty was more important.  Loyalty to Trump was more important.

If they're willing to kill them with nukes, what's stopping them from using it on us too?

The fact that we supposedly have them as well.

Better kill them first before they try to kill us.

It's all about escellation.

Why would the US escalate to nuclear war over Ukraine? You still haven't answered the question beyond "because they just would, okay?". Come on, use your big words. Tell me why America would decide to kill itself if Russia landed a one megaton warhead in a Ukrainian city.
Trump will see it as a Challenge to his authority as the most extreme president and rain fire and fury down like never before.

But generally speaking:
The use of a particular weapon in any conflict signals two things:
1. There is now a bigger risk to other groups that said weapons could be used on them.
2. That the weapon used is now acceptable or at least justifiable to use in conflict.

So, should Russia use Nuclear weapons, especially in a situation that doesn't warrant their use, the world will take that as a threat to their own cities and retaliate to ensure Russia can't nuke everyone else to gain power.  All with the hope of disabling Russia's ability to use Nuclear weapons before they can attack other cities with them.

And now he threatened Mexico and Canada. (We have an illegal immigrants issue from Canada?)
Now...can someone tell me why or how Trump can impose Tarrifs on two countries that have a Free Trade Agreement with the US that Trump himself negotiated?

Didn't he make the new NAFTA which would forbid Tarrifs like this for Canada and Mexico?

No, they were not.
They wrote be has absolute immunity for actions while in office and within the scope of his presidential duties.  The. Failed to define what classifies his scope.

Example: Joe Biden has a cabinet meeting then, during the meeting, murders one of his cabinet members.  Is he immune?

I suppose if we did have a nuclear Armageddon, there wouldn't be enough survivors to have another war for a while...

The crime was committed when the payment to Daniels was made without being declared, which was before Trump was elected. When Trump reimbursed Cohen is of limited relevance.
Wait...Cohen makes a payment...

How is Trump guilty because Cohen made a payment?
Falsifying business records.

If I write "$50,000 for legal fees" but my lawyer never did lawyering during that time, that's illegal.

Again, had Trump written Stormy a check directly, he'd have been 100% legal and no issues.  It's when he tried to hide it that it became an issue.

Ah but then you have the whole "If I use nukes , I'll have every one including China suddenly attacking me.  Probably with nukes."  Russia wants to win.  It doesn't want to die in the process.  Especially since it can't guarentee it's nuclear warheads will work.

This is functionally the equivalent of saying the following:

"If Russia nukes Kiev, China will kill itself." Why? Make it make sense, Dave.
If they're willing to kill them with nukes, what's stopping them from using it on us too?  Better kill them first before they try to kill us.

It's all about escellation.

I guess I got it mixed up honk. :/. Or early reporting that got edited.

So, when did Trump pay any money to Daniels?
When he told his fixer to do it and he'll repay him.

I just don't understand why he bothered.  Not like the normal rules of politics apply to him.
