So why aren't the threads reinstated, the feature changed and this thread locked? Or do I need to keep coming here moaning about it every time I am inconvenienced by it?

Alright, this seems like an adequate consensus. I've disabled the option to delete one's own threads, and restored the two threads that were deleted.
