So they kill healthy zoo animals instead of finding other homes for them.

Along with the pilot whale slaughter that happens on the Faroe Islands it just kinda seems like the Danes really hate animals.

People are making the argument that they couldn't be sent to other zoos since it would still lead to inbreeding, but even so, why not find a retirement sanctuary outside of the zoo system? I mean, killing 4 lions seems a little outrageous.


And the whale slaughter? Completely pointless since those whales have too much mercury for consumption.

Why not run a program to release surplus lions back intot he wild. That's what conservation is supposed to be about isn't it? I thought that's what zoos pretend is their purpose.

It's a fair article on the tradition. While it's not technically Denmark, I wonder if they're not culturally similar. I kind of wonder if they just have a low emotional attachment to animals in general similar to Asians.
