Summary:
X just released an AI chatbot image generator tool.  For no reason.  Right before an election.  Allowing basically anyone to make evidence of vote tampering at any time with 0 talent and then post that shit on Social Media to get people angry.

Trump is gonna love this.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Is a bear free?
« on: February 17, 2022, 01:41:48 PM »
With all the talk about the canadian trucker protests and the protests against American mandates, I see alot of "Fight for freedom" and "mandates are tyranny!"

And it got me thinking... What is freedom?  How do we define it?  Where is that line where you stop being free and start being a slave or oppressed?

Which got me to the hypothetical question: is a bear free?

The bear is a wild bear in the woods somewhere.  (So no zoo animals)
Beyond that is a normal bear in the world.
Does it have freedom?

Pro:
He can shit anywhere he wants.
He's large enough that few predators will mess with him.
He can eat what he wants when he wants.

Con:
Humans hunt him.
Other bears may kill him.
Humans are constantly taking land, making your area to roam smaller or more densely populates. (ie. More bears in an area)
He is bound by biological processes like hybernation.
Lacks sentience. (Maybe)

So... Is a bear free?

Philosophy, Religion & Society / The Great Reset: Aftermath
« on: January 18, 2022, 06:11:10 AM »
There are far too many people who believe that "the elites" have designed the corona vaccine to kill everyone.  Only 100 million people worldwide will survive, but only as slaves to the elites.  Something about having better control over the world, the why is kinda vague.

Anyway, the question becomes: what are the anti-vaxxers and people who believe this doing to prepare?
Because lets face it, if you believe this then you MUST be preparing for the aftermath.
The news showing people dying suddenly.  First a few thousand a day, then millions a day.  The riots as people realize the vaccine is genocide.  The angry mobs as they tear through anyone.  Doctors as they try in vein to find a cure.  Basic services and utilities failing due to lack of people.  Bodies in the streets and homes with no one to collect them as they fall.  Governments collapsing.

And finally... You.  Alone or maybe with your family, surrounded by death.
Could you survive?  How would you fight the death squads and chemical weapons that the elites will use to wipe out the resistance?  Do you have a gas mask?  Guns?  Training in wilderness survival?

What do you all think?  Think these people are actually preparing or just bitching, hoping they don't need to worry about where to buy food in 5 years?

Philosophy, Religion & Society / America's healthcare isn't broken....
« on: December 12, 2021, 05:23:16 PM »
... American society is.

https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2021-12-10/column-healthcare-billing-markups

Long story short:
Hospitals need to mark up prices by insane amounts to ensure insurance comapnies actually pay the cost of the item/service and to cover the cost of people with no insurance who can't pay.

This is what America wants.  This is what they chose.  That is why I don't think the system is broken.  The system is working exactly as Americans want it to.  The strong and financially stable get help but the weak and financially unstable are financially destroyed or killed.

And that, my friends, is the way America wants it.

Technology & Information / Got me. New video card...
« on: October 30, 2021, 08:45:26 AM »
I was lucky enough to get my hands on the new 6600 radeon (not the xt).
It is such a nice improvement from my old card.

Idle temps are around 33C with passive cooling while using 4W on a dual monitor setup. (1080p)
On load, hits about 45C with 1200rpm on the fan, which is nice and quiet.
Getting a good 90fps in New World.

My old card hit 55C on idle at 1200rpm.  So yeah... So much more efficient.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / The Taliban Won

Here's Why Biden Is Sticking With The U.S. Exit From Afghanistan https://www.npr.org/2021/08/14/1027552833/heres-why-biden-is-sticking-with-the-u-s-exit-from-afghanistan?sc=18&f=1027552833

Long story short: 20 years of military support and money didn't do shit.  Afghanistan's own military is worthless, being overrun in less than a month.  Likely the whole government will collapse before September.

So the only real solution to dealing with the Taliban and their oppressive practices is genocide.  Pure and simple genocide.  Because 20 years of education, rebuilding, protection, and whatever else we did was worthless.  The moment we let our guard down, they swooped in.

Short answer:
Unemployment pays more than McDonalds.  So why would anyone want to interview, get instantly offered a job, and lose unemployment?

Philosophy, Religion & Society / New Georgia Law and Corporations

https://www.npr.org/2021/04/03/984150680/georgia-governor-criticizes-mlb-for-buying-into-liberal-lies-about-new-election-

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/02/us/politics/georgia-voting-law-annotated.html

So basic summary:
Georgia enacted a law to change voting.  Alot of things shifted: What machines you can use, absentee ballot rules, ID requirements, where early voting and mail in voting ballots can be dropped off and when, registration rules, etc...

Also: Its illegal to give out water or food to someone in line.  In Georgia.  So if I wanna walk around selling bottled water, I'm going to jail.  If I run up and give my friend a swig of my ice cold soda, I'm going to jail.

Some of it sounds good but its definitely something that poorer people are going to struggle with.  I think there would be far less backlash if they added in a provision to give everyone a state ID off the bat.  Or even just a voter ID.

Also not letting polling places get 3rd party funds... I'm ok with.  Provided the governor gives them the money they need.

However, being able to remove election officials at will is... not a good thing.

And now I'm reading up on voting ID requirements.  Its not too bad.  But it also depends on where these  DDS Customer Service Centers are located and their hours.  Which is basic DMV style stuff.
They should have let these things be done at the Post Office.  Would have made this much easier for people.

Arts & Entertainment / Carbon 2180 game invite
« on: December 09, 2020, 08:41:55 AM »
So me and a few people had an RP group for DnD5e.  But due to real life issues, the DM left as did a few players.  So we started up a cyber punk game: Carbon 2180.

Right now we have a DM and 2 players but we're looking for a third or more.

The game is on discord voice and roll20.net for rolls and what-not.  We have player's guide in pdf if ya need it.

The game starts saturday around 8pm or 9pm GMT.  We have 't fully finalized a time so bit flexible.  Anyone interested, let me know.
