The " in and out" is the "gear shifting" part which changes the distances of the sun's path (orbit) from summer to winter ?
The "up and down" is how the sun changes "the shadow from the sun that illuminates the moon" to account for lunar phases ?
This seems to negate the fe idea that the sun "acts like a spotlight and shines downward on the earth" ?
I was also under the impression that the sun was always at a constant distance above the earth ? Is there another set of gears to move the sun up and down ?
And if you think the wiki is whackey !
And if you thought "Who's on first ?" was funny.......! Bud Abbott and Lou Costello must be rolling in their graves !
