It wants to boom bust. Infect a small area, but once that area is saturated it wants a boom to infect new areas where it can continue in smaller numbers until that area is no longer of use. Then boom again.
Going boom in a sparsely populated rural area is one thing, but what happens when it goes boom in a densely populated urban area?
Can't. the population fluctuates up and down. Often below what is needed to maintain population (a population crash) but never to zero as it stays in that biurification graph and it will have a growth rate below 4. It fluctuates around the background 'average'. It will not spread as it will have population crash. For reasons I can't tell you but reasons that are built into and dictate its growth rate. I'm not a biologist, I just understand maths.

In fact for reasons know one can tell you. They are so numerous, subtle and incalculable, that's why you get chaos theory.  :-B

As it stands, it's not a world killer because it's not hugely contagious. But it has potential through mutation. And the more people it infects, the bigger the chances get of it mutating.

Did anyone see the vids of Liberians faking Ebola sickness for camera crews. And then walking away with cash in hand. I'll probably post them later so you guys can justify the fakery.
God is real.

No. A dog doesn't mutate into a goat. Viruses don't make quantum leaps in evolution. They are the same as any other organism. Stop reading reddit and read a biology book.

And we were second in the quiz. :(
No money this time.

Viruses can, and do, mutate into more treatment resistant and deadlier versions of themselves.

Viruses can mutate in the timespan of a few days. And they reproduce much more quickly than goats and dogs.

Viruses don't make quantum leaps in evolution.

Actually they do, a quantum leap being the smallest change possible in a system.

Oh lord, Thork tried to do math.

1. You can't use the law of averages on non-normal data. Viral pandemics are the very pinnacle of non-normal data sets. It's also more often than not complete garbage to apply law of averages. In statistics you want to avoid it.

2. You can't use a population growth variance with abnormal parameters. (e.g. Humans are not a natural host to Ebola. Ebola evolved with other animals and became zoonotic). You can't claim that Ebola can't "kill itself off" inside humans because even if every human on Earth is dead it would still go on in other creatures. It has no evolutionary advantage to keeping us alive, unlike, say, the common cold.

3. A virus is not an organism and population growth variance doesn't apply anyway.

4. ur retarted

After doing some research on the topic of Ebola mutation in to an airborne pathogen, I am forced to agree with Thork.  The likelihood of it becoming airborne are quite remote as it requires multiple mutations in sequence to do so, and it is not believed to be advantageous from an evolutionary perspective.

That being said, we should still devote our money to containing the outbreak because its so fucking deadly, and the news from the WHO is grim.

Would yo you care to go into more detail on at least point 1? From a statistical standpoint, he is certainly right.

I already showed how virus populations work, explained background populations and how a spike is easily explained using biurification graphs. There is nothing non-mathematical about how viruses work. They are little machines that do exactly what they are programmed to do.

Ebola is a reverse RNA virus which doesn't help its odds.

The WHO haven't made a decent record in decades. Seriously though, they are part of the new world order structure appointed by the UN. Their sole goal is to help propagate methods of global taxation.

Right, and you non-applicable statistical terminology in your explanation. If you didn't intend to mean it that way, that's fine. Just clarify and move on.

Something like this, maybe?

I don't know how statistics work. I use terminology that is literally worthless in what I am trying to explain. I need to learn more about normal data sets, standard normals, hypothesis testing, p-values, etc.

That would suffice.

Where did I mention anything about the mathematics of virus populations? I am talking about general statistics and your misuse of them. It was so bad that Rushy accurately pointed out the flaw.
