Why does the UK get to have 4 separate teams. I thought it was one nation? Or are they so desperate to have the World Cup in the aisles that they just forego their super important sovereignty in this case?
Splitting the nation into 4 hardly helps us win World Cups. It means we have the England team base and any other players that might help ... Gareth Bale or Ryan Giggs for example, are not allowed to be included in a UK team.

We have 4 nations because we have separate leagues in those countries and so their respective football associations want the power and money (gate receipts, shirt sales etc) and so we can't unify the team.

Is this really relevant in a thread about football? If you are truly interested in my life story, feel free to create a thread about it in CN or AR, where I can shitpost at you as much as you like.
You profess to be a Northern Ireland fan. I ask the very reasonable question ... 'Why do you support a country you have no connection to?' and you refuse to furnish me with a proper answer. The proper answer is that you are appropriating other people's culture because your own is rather unimpressive. I'm an Englishman. That ranks very high on the list of 'do you have any culture?'. Like a fine wine ... I have provenance. You're trying to slap a champagne label onto a €2 bottle of plonk.

I gave you as much of an answer as is relevant in a thread not titled "xasop's family tree makes your look like a line of homeless people".

It's half time and the Netherlands is already up 3–0. Why are the British so bad at football?

I see nothing in here to contradict the fact that the UK is currently losing hard to the Dutch.

Congrats on beating a remote outpost with a population of 33,000. I don't think England would roll over as easily for you.

Perhaps, but they're not playing, so we'll never know. The Netherlands just scored a fourth goal, by the way.

England is pretty famous for rolling over in international play, to be fair.

You get that you played a "country" so small that if Thork lived there he'd probably get a game, right?

South Africa 1 – 0 Ethiopia

Another great day for football.

October 12, 2021, 06:45:00 PM — Bulgaria–Northern Ireland (Sofia)
Northern Ireland is winning so far. Onto the 47th minute with the score at 0–1.

Considering that Gibraltar is not part of the UK, I don't think this "fact" was established in the first place.

Maybe you should learn the definition of the word, "kingdom," and the definition of the word," nation," and come back then and only then.
To be honest I am getting pretty bored of this place.

Games of interest this month:
  • November 11, 2021, 07:00:00 PM — South Africa–Zimbabwe (Johannesburg)
  • November 11, 2021, 07:45:00 PM — Republic of Ireland–Portugal (Dublin)
  • November 12, 2021, 07:45:00 PM — Northern Ireland–Lithuania (Belfast)
  • November 13, 2021, 07:45:00 PM — Montenegro–Netherlands (Podgorica)
  • November 14, 2021, 07:45:00 PM — Luxembourg–Republic of Ireland (Luxembourg)
  • November 14, 2021, 09:00:00 PM — Ghana–South Africa (Cape Coast)
  • November 15, 2021, 07:45:00 PM — Northern Ireland–Italy (Belfast)
  • November 16, 2021, 07:45:00 PM — Netherlands–Norway (Rotterdam)
Both Irish teams are already eliminated, but the really interesting matches should be Ghana–South Africa and Netherlands–Norway. Both of those are between the leading two teams in each group.

An expected, but satisfying outcome.

They're onto the 92nd minute (in stoppage time) and still at 0–0. Someone fucking score already.

Seems like they don't do extra time in these qualifiers, so:

Republic of Ireland 0 – 0 Portugal

A pretty good result for Ireland, considering their relative standing.
