Flat Earth Theory / Re: Are plane tickets real?

it's not just a link to any website with text telling us what to think, it's a massively used map of the globe represented in a projected format proven over and over again by millions of people. if you want to confirm it just take the picture of Bing's map and reproject it onto a globe and see the measured distances no longer warp at the poles like they do on the projected Bing map.

the world isn't just a globe because the bing map is a projection... the Bing map is a projection because the world is a globe. the difference is clear. if it's a globe earth map, it's not a flat earth map. In other news a pyramid can't be a cylinder either without stretching and distorting it.

People tap the gauge for the same reason people go for a regular checkup their with the doctor or get their MOT done for their car regularly. To make sure it's all in working order rather than assume it is.It's common sense Totallackey... Quit latching on to stupid arguments, it's going nowhere for you.

Yea I wouldn't place blame on FE'ers just as I wouldn't place blame on regular people when an astronaut dies in an accident. Mike was an adult and I think regardless of what excuse he used to make/ride rockets it was ultimately his choice to do so and he would probably have found another reason/cause if he weren't a flat earther IMO. Obviously I didn't know the guy personally but from what I saw of his character he was doing it for enjoyment.

RIP Mike Hughes. It was tragic and regardless of his belief of the earth's shape I get that he most likely loved doing this kind of stuff, knew the risks and was happy enough to take them anyway. To that end I do hope he died happy and without regret. I doubt anyone could have convinced him not to do the stunts.

People have seen it from space but it seems the higher up humans go, the less FE'ers believe they went that high.

And at what point is "you saw it because you wanted to see it" a strong response? I mean yea there may be a bias but hey, you only believe the earth is flat because you want to believe it, people only believe in their gods because they want to believe it etc. It's a statement that is a non-argument, it adds not much rebuttal to a back and forth dialogue. Concords fly at nearly double the altitude of normal commercial flights today, at what point in the globe model would you begin to see an obvious horizontal curvature? It would have been perfectly possible to see from a concord and who's to say they didn't see it? Since FE'ers seem to be big on seeing for themselves so it's amazing Mark could tell someone else what they did or didn't see without having been there with them... Almost like how Buzz Aldrin totally didn't see the earth from the moon because all the FE'ers were totally there with him that day to see what he saw.

The law of free expansion has already been proven...
But you are the only one claiming a link between that and conservation of momentum not working for rockets in space.
The Nobel Prize awaits you if you can prove that link as it seems to have eluded scientists. And rockets, come to think of it, which seem to work perfectly fine.

And all the videos you have posted bear this fact out quite nicely.
Someone posted a video of the moon lander launching from the moons surface and you just yelled fake with no evidence, so I doubt any video would change your mind since you're unwilling to take anything that goes against your belief seriously.

If you don't want to revist this discussion then why did you revisit this discussion?
Because you were bringing it up and you're most certainly wrong. if you could take a photo of the earth in its entirety from space, if it were flat, from a long distance with a decent telescope of some kind so there isn't much perspective, what would it look like? if the answer you're going to give is the bing map then you're simply wrong. On the bing map (if it were reality and not a projection of a globe) if you stand at the poles your body stretches across the entire width of the world... because the poles on the bing maps are stretched out to fit a the rectangle. stop with all the "interactive zooming" stuff for a moment and answer the question.

So, I asked all of you once before (page 5 reply #93), with only a modicum of sarcasm, but I will ask again because it is very relevant and important to this discussion.

All day long, each and every day, you are all attacking and correcting 'MY' beliefs, but I think those following this thread deserve to know what 'YOUR' belief is.

So, to all of you FLAT EARTH SOCIETY 'FRAUDS', who are actually Round Earthers in the wrong place, here is the question that begs a response:

Do you believe that we all live on 'THIS'.......

....or do you believe we all live on 'THIS'?

Simple, straighforward, no jokes intended.

THIS is what modern science, NASA, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Bill Nye and all other champions of 'Round/Oblate Spheroid' Earth are insisting we all exist upon. vvv

Straight up: Do you believe this or not??

You are not allowed to believe in this anymore....

....because THIS ^^^ has been proven to be false ad nauseum; it is not even a debate anymore.

So, once again, here are your choices.

World E:

World P:

Which are you hailing from with all your refutation and rebuttal of the Flat Biblical Earth?
Can't tell if you're just trolling but neither of those. famous science writers described the earth as pear shaped to dumb it down for people but in reality, the earth still looks almost perfectly spherical from a distance with only a slightly imperfect shape, it's not a literal space pear.

Do you believe you live on a disk where all space around it warps light to make it look like a sphere?

Bing maps does not have discrepancies because it has an interactive scale
Don't really want to revisit this discussion because zooming in and out on a picture of a map doesn't change the fact that it's massively distorted 'flat earth' map.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Are plane tickets real?
« on: February 14, 2020, 07:29:17 PM »
Last I checked he believes that the bing map (a globe projection with extreme distortion at the poles) is the true flat map. Standing at the south or North Pole would then make you as wide as the globe so I wouldn’t consider that an accurate flat earth map.

This is a fact that has been observed for thousands of years and taught to every art student that has ever learned how to recreate horizon line or line of delineation in a drawing or painting. It is ALWAYS, without fail, PERFECTLY FLAT and extending into infinity. Everything in your perspective moves toward that line from all angles as its distance increases until it appears to shrink and disappear from view.

Google Horizon Lines and Lines of Delineation in Art, or you could research the topic in books in the library. It is a concept that is very old and never been in debate or challenged in any way.
Don't misunderstand artist interpretations for reality. It has nothing to do with what 'eye level' is. Horizon lines in perspective drawings can be literally anywhere on the page, doesn't even equate to standing and looking out at a perfectly level angle from 4-7 feet off the ground.

Here's a fun test, find a high up place like a cliff somewhere along a shoreline, place a toilet roll on a tripod of some kind that you can adjust, put a spirit level attached to the toilet role with tape or anything else and get the roll perfectly level, then look through the roll out to sea. Does the water line go perfectly through the middle of the view?

*you can just attach a spirit level to a telescope which would be better but if you're poor then anyone can do with a tube of some kind.

*be sure it's a clear day where you can see an obvious break between water and sky

All of those last bullet points he made that he said no one could answer have been answered already. Calling it "spooky" that heat happens to get trapped easier in closed off spaces compared to open spaces where moonlight happens to hit just shows Mark Sargent really wants to believe the earth is flat despite the evidence. He enjoys the flat earth idea, enjoys the spotlight.

I found it hilarious.

"He later clarified that the image was "the picture of a dream, the dream of walking on the moon." He added that he found the many jokes posted online to be "interesting."

Speaking at a Tehran event titled Space Technologists' Gathering, Azari Jahromi said his tweet "was the introduction to good news."

"The suit wasn't really important because we haven't made an Iranian space suit, yet work is being done to create a special outfit for Iranian space scientists," he backpedaled."

it would be damn impressive to keep that a secret... Since the commercial pilots would know it was happening, the engineers who make the planes would know it was happening... Ordinary people keeping it all under wraps out of the goodness of their hearts?
What reason would they have to run and tell?

Do you see pilots running around telling their day-to-day job stories?

Do you see a lot of pilots interviewed about flights?
Because it would suggest the flight is going further and that it's being covered up, since the flight plans and routes are shown publicly and in real time on the flight to the passengers.

yes and yes. There's tons of pilots talking about their jobs, why wouldn't they? It's a cool and interesting job.

"The lack of these actual non-stop-stop flights taking place and yet, the people end up where they want to end up strongly suggests they are getting there some how."

What about the ones that actually happen? I mean you're focusing on ones that do stop overs but even if most do, there's still going to be some that do the full trip with no stops. Even if you say it's rare that doesn't suddenly mean it doesn't happen. to use an example I've used before, if there's a small hole on a wall and i throw a handful of marbles at the hole, even if most of them don't go into it and one happens to get in, that doesn't mean the hole is non existent.

Recently Antartica has become quite a well mapped location
Meh. It's a claim that kinda-sorta fits observations, much like most of RET. If all you have to say is "RET exists!!!", then I really don't have much to say to you. Sure, it does.
I think you may have taken my post as some kind of insult or form of angry rant, you know my position, I don't really need to be stating "RET exists!!!". I'm actually curious about how observations of a relatively small continent (relative to the rest of the globe earth) could be mistaken if the actual size and shape of the land is spanning around the entire (flat) earth, the article I linked to was specifically about an organization working to map and keep mapping the landscape, of which you can find data on their website including in the form of a map which I find really interesting to look at (the environment artist in me maybe);

mistaking a massive doughnut shaped ice wall for a much smaller blob continent would be hard to do IMO, which is why I'm curious about your thoughts. How could this have happened? with the all the data they've collected I'd be surprised they didn't come to the conclusion that it's a wall around the earth, were the earth flat.

Flat Earth Investigations / Re: Question about the Ice Wall
« on: February 07, 2020, 11:52:16 AM »
But that's based on explorations in the mid 19th century. Why are you ignoring everything that has happened since. Now you can apply for a job in Antarctica

Or go right to the South Pole itself, if you have the money
We aren't. The fact that you can stand on the Ice Wall or even go to an arbitrary place of religious significance to some people doesn't change anything about the extent of the frozen wastelands.
Recently Antartica has become quite a well mapped location, the size and shape known. But in order to be a wall around flat earth surface, the coast would need to be several times bigger than what's seen. I'd be curious on your thoughts about this, as Antarctica has been visually mapped from the sky. Ignoring the blind spot in the middle where the pole is, do you think this is some kind of lie or physical visual distortion? I'm specifically talking about the shape here.

Are the wildfires still going on? I wonder if you would really be able to see the sky clearly with smoke and such. I hope you've no family out there. :(

It's a loop done for fun? Maybe you can point out the splice for us. I don't see it. Perhaps you should look up the definition of a time lapse. These were presented as nothing other than honest portrayals of a 24/7 sun, and instead we have edited footage with multiple layers, and footage which shows identical clouds.

It does not seem to be very fulfilling evidence if you have to admit that the footage was secretly and cunningly edited and spliced together, and must argue that any video editing fakery was done only in a way which favors your own position.
I don't need to point it out at what times it transitions, you already did. I mentioned it was potentially a slow transition and not an immediate cut the start, and I'll say it again for your sake, with the sun and the camera positions being in the exact same position 24 hours later, a transition may be really hard to notice. If it was stormy on the first morning and not on the second then you may have seen the transition a bit better.

I don't need to look up a meaning of time lapse. They've got a 24 hour time lapse, which loops at the end back to the start. It's still showing 24 hours as a time lapse. It wasn't an "honest portrayal of a 24/7 sun" it was an honest portrayal of a 24/1 sun... Come on, read what you're writing.

The guy in the video doesn't seem to be presenting this as evidence for anything. He could well have uploaded a video of something not many people get to see. So yea, it's just a cool video with a bit of video editing. And the first video is simple video editing to put north, east, south and west in. It isn't hard to do, you don't need multiple layers of skies and mountains, you need to simply put the words in then mask out where the mountain is so it looks like it's sitting behind a mountain. Anyone with a computer can do this kind of editing. It doesn't mean the whole thing fake...
