Is it just a male club or are there females too. Seems kind of sexist and weird if it's just old creepy rich men and lots of young (easily influenced) boys...

Flat Earth Theory / horizon meeting at eye level

Could someone give any info on the horizon always meeting you at eye level, even on a high mountain or in a plane.

Is there any way to test whether it would meet you at eye level on a globe earth? Or even on a flat earth?

If the earth turned out to be flat, how could you possibly test that horizon theory for a globe earth? And how could you for a flat earth being on a globe?

It's probably simple, but not to me. Sorry.

Valid enough questions, but yeah a little hard to read with no punctuation. All good though.

I'm not a flat earth believer, but I do enjoy theories on the idea and I'm interested in why so many people are testing or believing the idea/theory.

In regard to your fish question. I must say its the first I've ever heard that people would question the reality of fish?

I think the dome idea is based on the theory that it is some sort of design? By a higher being or creator. Or perhaps that's just how our flat earth formed.

Also, from what I've gathered on this forum and other flat earthers, that what we see as stars are not proved to be other planets so why should we believe that. A lot of the idea is based on being taught the wrong information by NASA and authorities. Although I'm sure that's not just it. Hopefully a flat earther can fill you in more there. As I said that's just what I'm gathering so far.

The flat earth doesn't orbit.

Governments control the Antarctic ice wall. Or, there are possible lands even beyond the edge.

There are some theories for how the sun and moon rotate above the flat earth. Some could perhaps represent how in the Arctic north there are 3 days without sun. Though remember I have no way to test or do the math for the theories. I'll leave that for others.

The flat earth map is basically the globe flattened out with larger oceans and Antarctica as the perimeter.
Although there could or might be many different versions or possibilities.

In regards to your other question on another thread.

What's underneath? I've asked the same question. Without proof who can say?
It could be as the fantastic aurthor terry pratchett wrote that the disc sits on the back of a huge turtle swimming through the cosmos. Why not. That would be awesome.

But in reality it might be something boring like a ball formed over millions of years or a flat disc that pulled itself together in a similar process.
I don't know.
Maybe it's a huge pillar in gods museum and he forgot we are there and we're just gathering dust and he's "perfected" a better race of beings, on some universally agreed upon  cube planet  where everyone owns a house.

Who knows.

(I think it's a globe and boring) but astonishing at the same time.

Yeah setec astronomy. I've read and heard that before. Never about astronauts or police chiefs.
But I assume positions of power and influence are positions that free masons would like to place people.
That's assuming they are a shadowy clan with a worldwide historic plan to rule the world.
It's a hard one for me to grasp.
I definitely think there is something weird and not quite right with free masons. I don't know anything more than reading things online about them. And anyone could tell me the bush family for instance are free masons and I can't prove they aren't.
Is it publicly known who's part of it?
And what do the free masons claim they are for? Or why people join them?
A rich boys club to help each other keep positions of power and keep their lineage elite? Or is it way more sinister? If that in itself isn't sinister enough.

If you e ever known anyone very wealthy, then from my experience you would know they are not apethetic people. I've got pretty well off people in my family and they definitely use and abuse.
So the top wealthy families in the world and throughout history. Of course some very shady shit went down and continues.

This is a good point as this conspiracy "I think" grabs a lot of people (who are open to many conspiracy a like free masons) and leads them into the idea for a flat earth cover up. Would that be correct?

Yeah sorry my knowledge of other csiro telescopes in Australia is limited.

I had the pleasure of visiting the DISH in February. It was amazing.  i plan to make a road trip to the other dish which was involved in aiding the Apollo missions.

So the answer is yes? Australia can view different points in space?

The NASA cover up seems to get more epic the more you dig. If you look at it that way. I don't see how that is possible considering the amount of people that are involved.But that's only my opinion.

Wouldn't you just need one on earth to point anywhere in the sky?

Do they not point at parts of space not able to be viewed by other continents?

If the evidence from NASA is any actual indication of reality, then it appears that flatness is the normal shape for objects in the known universe.  We have observed both the moon and Mars from right at the surface and in both cases the surface is shown to be flat.  It is inconclusive as of yet, but (again, assuming NASA can be trusted) it seems that large objects tend to flatness as a general rule.

Naturally this also means that the dome theory of FE is incorrect, meaning the answer posed in the OP is interestingly no, but again because based on NASA's evidence the dome theory is incorrect.

Also do the Chinese, Russian or other space exploration agencies have photographs from space looking back at earth?

One argument for fe that a work colleague made was, what took the photographs of earth from space. The ones showing earth as a complete circle basically the way we would photograph our moon from earth?

He basically said that it looks fairly conclusive that they are produced images to "represent" what earth looks like.

Oh one other thing.

Is this forum okay with non science people asking questions on here.

I put them in the q and a section for that reason.

I forget that saying "I saw" and "I have this" is all here say. So I'll work on wording and backing up with photos.

As far as the dots we see being stars not planets that's fair enough. But we observed also a smudge in the sky from normal eye view. But through the telescope it turned out to be an array of colour and some sort of galaxy which the name escapes me. Galaxy meaning billions of more stars yeah?

Or is the cosmos program lying? My mum who believes in FE says Neil Degrassi junior high Tyson is a lying free mason.

I don't know how to put up a picture on this forum? I tried but couldn't figure it out. Plus it's not stored on my phone anymore. I have it on my instagram account is you could be bothered scrolling through hundreds of photos of my he Man figurine collection.

We looked through the eye piece.

Also you picked apart only "parts" of my argument.

Could you give advice on my points about Saturnia rings being around and across the "planet" Saturn?

I apologise and in no way knowledgable but trying to think it all out and find what fits into common sense for myself.

Sorry another reply.
Was thinking while I was driving just now.

I remember when I was a kid I used to play the Clarinet in our school band. We used to have Friday night stay overs at school for more practice. One night they organised an observatory team with huge telescopes up on our school oval.
The largest telescope with a standing platform was pointed at Saturn. I remember seeing Saturn with its rings going across the planet. While last year when I observed it the rings were completely around the planet like a hoop around it.

Does that offer "good" evidence for globe planets?

How is that explained in flat earth theory? Or are the planets mainly globes meanwhile earth is flat with a dome.

As far as seeing the one face (side) of the moon. I also questioned that.
But Phil plait a well known debunker of bad science and misconceptions has a good explanation in his book the bad astronomer.

Also are there known planets with moons which may orbit them differently, meaning that from that planets view you see different faces of their moon?

I don't expect everything answered I'm just riffing ideas mainly for my own benefit.

I am not an astronomer. But just interested in space and other ideas. I've been to small observatories and they let me take a photo through the eyepiece with my iPhone and I got great detailed pics of the moons surface (craters and shadows and such)
We also saw Saturn and her rings plus there were I think 3 visible moons around her too.

Was an amazing night. Just myself my fiancé and an old couple that ran a nightly observatory self funded at the local school up in the mountains.

I guess my figure of countless comes from looking up and not being able to count the number of dots I see.

(Assuming they are all planets, Suns or entire galaxies)

I suppose if you tell me they aren't planets I couldn't possibly prove it otherwise.

Makes sense to me though, still enjoy asking questions.

I like your rational thinking babyhighspeed!

It's difficult as someone born in the 80's with a parent who believes most conspiracies but myself hold great regard for people in the scientific and mathematic field.

I'm trying to keep an open mind about all things in this flat earth debate. But I haven't seen or heard any evidence to suggest why it would be flat. The best I have seen would be photographic evidence. But like on the other side of the debate. Photographic evidence is likely faked. So how do we move on.
Or should we leave the debate to the learned folk and people who scraped through high school like myself should be happy to work 9-5 and retire at 70 and go cenile.


To me it feels like a religious debate. You can say God exists prove me wrong. And I can't. Like you can say the atmosphere is a dome and someone like me can't possibly prove it either way.

And I don't think an organisation like NASA who clearly knows its foundation for its research is going to ever come here and settle an argument.

This debate is hard because I myself like to question things. The moon landing too has never felt right to me (possibly due to my parents ideas about it)
But believing something that lacks evidence like ufo's or aliens and the flat earth is different to being open to new ideas of the logic behind it makes sense. Which for me most of the logic behind flat earth feels like the ufo debate too.

I wouldn't be surprised if it ever came out and NASA said they had to fake the moon landing to win the "race" for political and financial advantage.
 
But remember making that claim goes with it a massive MASSIVE world wide cover up of potentially thousands of not hundreds of thousands of people.

one other thing.
I said this to my mum when we got into an actual heated debate about flat earth which she now wholely believes.
I said
I think it's easier to watch a YouTube video where someone tells you that NASA faked it and the earth is flat look at these photos but disregard these ones,
Than it is to go to uni or study a subject and do your own experiments. Which we all could do if we REALLY wanted answers.
But it's easier and more fun to slide into YouTube and put on a conspiracy video and get riled up with many unconfirmed inaccuracies.

I know what it's like to be led by a crazy theory too. I went to church long enough and got sucked into its wormhole but started questioning everything about it and reading things amd talking to rational people about it all.

My mum also tried to say that movies and tv shows are putting the ideas I front of our faces like under the dome or game of thrones with the ice wall. But then I said well what about Stephen Kings other movies like the 99% of his low budget stuff that is terrible. That one with billy zane! Fuck me... Demon knight? I think it was called.

How far does this conspiracy actually go? Is it ingrained in every facet of life and history?

So I'm gathering from everything in seeing is that a flat earth theorist has an answer for everything we know already? But when it comes to building on the theory then they fail to?

As in, say what's under the flat earth? and what the dome is made of?

Unless I haven't read enough which I probably haven't. What are some of the theories that aren't based on changes to the already known ideas we have regarding the globe earth.

I suppose if you just say you can't dig far enough and you can't leave the dome then it's up to the opposing party to come up with proof we can't possibly do without an agency like NASA which they claim is fake..

This is getting really complicated and confusing. I don't even know if anyone will understand my questions in this part. Sorry.
