I'd like to see Tom's evidence of this FE movement growth.  Any charts with sources, Tom?
Well, I'm not Tom, but I am the claimant here.

Here are a couple of conventionally reputable sources conceding the point (while disagreeing with our movement, naturally):

https://www.forbes.com/sites/trevornace/2018/04/04/only-two-thirds-of-american-millennials-believe-the-earth-is-round/
https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2017/11/28/americas-flat-earth-movement-appears-to-be-growing

This is a bit depressing. Our public schools are so screwed up these days. Millenials no longer learn even the basics of critical thinking and rational thought. For love's sake, they listen to CNN! Such a short fall from Aristotle-Aquinas-Luther-Payne&Jefferson to Miley Cyrus.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Is Greenland as big as Africa?
« on: August 24, 2018, 07:23:23 PM »
The scale does change. I was able to use the 2d non globe map and zoom into Greenland and see the scale much smaller than when i zoomed into Africa.

This is kind of my point. If Earth is flat, and Google Maps can be trusted as a source of getting people from A to B, then it can't change. I am hoping to get some sort of answer as to how this could be if we are to assume the Earth is flat
You're falling into one of the traps of arguing logically with conspiracy theorists. They deny the existence of any FE map. That is to say, they haven't found a map that accurately depicts these things yet.

Which is one place where the RE theory beats FE. Globalists can point to a map and make predictions about flight times, walking times, and orbital times that turn out to be very accurate when compared to actual travel times.

When the model fits the experimental data, trust the model.

However, the FE's are looking for an accurate enough model. They are working from approximately the time of the ancient Egyptians or perhaps earlier. Pre ancient greeks at least.  At which rate it will be around 4500CE before they figure out what the rest of mankind had already found. By which time the rest of us will be playing hockey on the moons of Saturn, if not further.

But it's their time to waste.

Pinky, I fear you've fallen into the dark miasma which is the basis of conspiracy theories. People use loose logic and a complete lack of any scientific method to propose an alternative reality (Elvis is alive, aliens are among us, etc.) and defend it by simply denying all evidence to the contrary. Typical signs are

  • The belief that some faceless, usually government, organization is behind the conspiracy.
  • Requiring a massive coverup without taking into account the problems with such an endeavor
  • Using the fact that other people with weak reasoning skill believe in the theory as an argument for the theory
  • Failure to use Occam's razor. The conspiracy becomes more and more complex to account for all of the data it cannot explain
  • Generally people receptive to a conspiracy theory are going to get into several conspiracy theories. It's the basic inability to see there own failed reasoning that pulls them into these things
If you are a reasonable person and with slightly above average reasoning skills arguing with conspiracy theorists can be as frustrating as trying to answer the last 'Why?' from a 5-year-old.

However, allowing yourself to get frustrated is counterproductive. It's like trying to push water back up a mountain with your bare hands. If you find yourself going there, it is probably best to walk away. Remember that proving the conspiracy wrong isn't your job, nor is it really necessary.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: The Ice Wall

The Earth is huge. If you walk across it, it will appear to be flat to you because of the enormity of the sphere of the earth. And you aren't going to be able to tell from photos much less being there that it is round until you get to a great enough height.
Fixed that for you.

Odd how you don't see the irony of your argument.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: universal acceleration... really?
« on: August 16, 2018, 04:45:30 PM »
In fact, there is no essential reason why you could not continue accelerating at 9.8 m/s^2 for a very long time. You would approach the speed of light but never go beyond it, according to Special Relativity, which has proven to be very real. You would feel the same acceleration today as people did four thousand (or 4 million depending on what science you believe) years ago.

Assuming there is anything outside of the Dome that FE's assume is our entire universe, that would be theoretically possible. What we are accelerating towards would be a huge question. On the other hand, if there is something outside the dome, then the amount of radiation impinging on the dome would be extraordinary at this point because even the tiniest particles could be striking it at near light speed, bombarding it or us with immense energy.

Of course, where we are accelerating too, and why create a disk that is constantly accelerating to create apparent gravity is a mystery. The entire UA theory causes more problems then it proposes to solve. Much easier to believe that Mass is causing a field which creates an apparent attraction between objects, which we call gravity. It's simpler and has been much easier to model and prove the existence of than UA. General Relativity (Gravitation) accurately predicts the movements of objects we see in the sky, so why create new theories that answer very little, and leaves more problems.

If all of this were proof that the earth is flat, then a blind man is proof the earth does not exist AT ALL - he sees nothing, therefore there is nothing.....
Oh man, I'm going to steal that, sorry. Mind if I use it as a signature?

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Flat Earth and Volcanoes
« on: August 09, 2018, 11:35:06 PM »
Your right, I got to the section on Dark and imaginary energy and probably stopped reading. I should have said they have nothing they can prove that causes it.

They submit it is because nobody is willing to spend money on the research, and I suspect that is for a very good reason: Global Earth is a model that has proven very beneficial to mankind, so spending money to prove it is incorrect would require FE to show how it would benefit mankind to change the model.

Please do a little research before posting questions that are answered in the Wiki: https://wiki.tfes.org/Universal_Acceleration
Actually, the UA article does nothing to say what is causing it. Acceleration, as we can show, comes from a force pushing on a mass:

F=ma
or
a=m/F

So to show where the acceleration is coming from, you would need to show what is causing the Force. Acceleration without force it is spookier than action at a distance.

Wow, so many thoughts, so little time. I want to amplify on what McToon said, I hope I have the right person.

The notion that NASA is behind the coverup is fraught with problems many of which he already made clear. Here are a few more:
  • If NASA and the US Government win by making us believe in RE, why wouldn't the Russians today, or the Soviets during the space race expose the fraud? Embarrassing and costing the US potentially billions of dollars and endless congressional hearings would have served the Russians very very well indeed. Especially when it was clear that they couldn't beat the US to a 'fake moon.'
  • How did it occur to ancient politicians and scientists to start this gigantic hoax in the first place? Did they foresee the major benefits of the problem once the space race started?
  • If FE favors the religious over the government, why did the church go along with the entire thing. As I recall they made life pretty miserable for RE'ers long ago. Why did they change their minds and say the earth was not flat?
  • Related to the last point. What did the ancient scientists and eventually the church have to gain by hiding the flat earth story?
  • What tangible benefit was there to say that sailors circum-navigate a globe, but it is really a plane?
  • The lifting technology is the biggest and most expensive part of the equation. Why set up a system where you had to waste a 365 ft. tall Saturn V rocket with millions of pounds of rocket fuel just to fake the part that cost relatively little? Based on NASA budgets the Saturn V was around US$10 billion in 1970's dollars, not including fuel. The LEM and CSM together were around US$5.8 billion
