Flat Earth Investigations / Re: Observing The Sun
« on: September 27, 2018, 03:39:03 PM »
This is more an observation than an experiment which you can do at your own convenience anywhere.

The sun does a number of things at both sunrise and sunset every day which is extremely relevant to the flat Earth and globe Earth concepts.

Take note of the size, shape, and color of the sun as it next rises and sets.

Ok, I have to admit I was doubting the flat earth for a while. Every model they tried to produce was flawed in every aspect. Especially when it comes to the sun. I mean come on, if the sun was that close and the earth was flat you would see it differently depending on where you were on the earth. Then people started showing photos and videos of clouds being behind the sun. Which doesn't make a lick of sense? If the sun is 3000-5000 miles high how could it ever be in front of a cloud? Clouds only go a few miles high. If the sun was truly in front of clouds then it would have to be much much much closer than fet originally thought. So I decided to take your challenge and monitor the sunrise and sunset. I have to say what I saw was mind-blowing. FET had it right but at the same time wrong. The earth is closer than 93,000,000 miles to the sun. A lot closer! The sun, bare with me, is actually 15-40 feet above the earth with a diameter of 1-3 feet and I have the proof. So back to the sun being in front of the clouds, it makes sense now, it is in front of the clouds but way closer. Anyone can prove this. Take a basketball and hold it out in front of you at arm's length. Notice how the clouds are behind it but yet the ball is still large. Now before you go saying I'm crazy just take a look at my proof. I have pictures of the sun rising in front of some power lines. How could the sun be in front of the powerlines if, in fact, it was 93 million miles away? It couldn't. I have to thank you Erpes for having me look into this. You alone sparked the fire that ends the debate. Enjoy the photo proof!

And for anyone wanting to doubt me, explain to me how clouds could ever be behind the sun when the sun is 3000miles high and clouds are only 1 to 4 miles high. See, this also explains why we have large sunsets. FET believes the sun is moving away to a point of not being able to see it. My method explains why we have large sunrises and even larger sunsets. The sun is deflating. Prove me wrong if you think you can.

Easiest thing to do, and you do not need all the money in the world or any technology, take a spaceship to the space station. Or take a shuttle around the earth in earths orbit. Couple million would do.
Sure, that would be really easy.  Assuming that you have a few million (actually probably closer to about $50-60 million) burning a hole in your pocket and the space tourism industry is currently sending tourists to space (it isn't).
Ok, say 1 billion $ so you have a really comfortable trip. This would prove either. A) you fly up and see the earth spinning and round. or B) You fly up and crash into a glass dome and fall to the earth like a flaming ball. or C) You actually crash through the dome where a heavenly camera crew awaits to interview you as the first person to escape the dome. or D) you crash through the dome and are murdered by aliens that want to set an example of you for any other human thinking about leaving their snowglobe.

What would you do, experimentally, to establish whether or not the Earth is flat, round, oblate spheroid, or whatever?

Assume you have an unlimited budget, and access to any technology currently available, anywhere in the world (no time-travel, teleportation, or other Star Trek variants allowed).

What would you want to do, in order to satisfy yourself?

Flat Earth Investigations / Re: The sun controls the seasons.

The seasons aren't controlled by the sun moving closer and farther away, I'm not sure who told you that. Please read the FAQ before posting threads in the future and do not ask people her to discuss random ideas you came up with by yourself.
He may have phrased it poorly, but he's not as off base as you seem to be implying. The seasons on the standard FE monopole map are caused by the sun moving 'closer and further' away (i.e. between it's North 'track' and it's South' track) over the year. Just because it doesn't change height doesn't mean the distance to it doesn't change by some factor.

The map shows a very exaggerated form of what the sun is doing. The actual movement is quite small and certainly wouldn't result in highly noticeable changes in the Sun's size.

FET'ers sees a highly noticeable change in the suns size each sunrise and sunset. "The sun appears to set due to perspective". Are you saying the distance the sun moves east to west(daytime to nighttime) is more than that of the sun moving north to south(summer to winter)? If that is the case, why is it not summer each day and winter each night?

Allow me to rephrase this. Based on the flat earth map from the flat earth wiki the seasons are controlled based on the location of the sun at that time. As you or someone said somewhere on this thread the sun will be down south a bit more and we will have winter in the north, e.g. USA where I live. To rephrase my original post question. If a sun that is only 30 miles across moves so far away enough to cause winter how does it then appear larger than it does in the summer? We all know the further you are away from something the smaller it becomes.

do not ask people here to discuss random ideas you came up with by yourself.

Random ideas? I guess it would be random for me to ask a question about winter while still in summer. But seeing how my country will soon merge into winter and we will experience the biggest sunset of the year in the month of October the question of why does the sun grow in size when it should be further away from my location does not seem random to me.

Flat Earth Investigations / The sun controls the seasons.

We all know the sun controls the season. On a globe the earth tilts away or towards the sun and on the FE the sun moves away or more close to the earth. My question, investigation, is as follows. If the seasons are controlled by the sun moving closer and further away, how is the giant sun that appears during the season of fall explained? If the sun was close enough to look that huge then we would definitely feel the heat. Please help me understand this and help me prove your conclusion scientifically. Thank you so much.

p.s. if you could prove the earth was flat I would kiss you. I really pray there is more to life than me working my 9-5 just to pay bills and eat.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Is Greenland as big as Africa?
« on: August 27, 2018, 08:03:32 PM »
Hey everyone,

So, I am pretty sure that everyone here has agreed at some point that Google Maps works. You can select a and b and get between them using your transportation of choice.

Google have recently changed their web version of maps to a globe. I am not saying the Earth is a globe because Google says so, so please read on...

On Google's flat version of maps, it shows that Greenland is huge. Like really huge. on their flat version (still available on Android) Greenland is almost the same size as Africa. On their new version of web maps, Greenland is dwarfed by Africa.

As I understand it, this is an issue with transposing round Earth to a flat surface. The way Google chose to do this was to have a scale that changed depending on where you were looking on the map at the time, therefore making things further from the equator appear bigger than they are.

So, why am I posting this? Good question sir! I wanted to find out how it is possible that, assuming the Earth is flat, Greenland appears to be as big as Africa when the scale could not possibly change.

If scale changes then it shows that there is a difference in curvature.

Please note that I am not trying to start an argument here, I am trying to understand. This is just something that has triggered my interest lately.

Try this out. www.thetruesize.com

It shows how the size changes based on the location on the flat map.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Force of Gravity Real or Fake?
« on: August 27, 2018, 07:55:12 PM »
Fake may be a harsh word. I have always had this theory that if we are in an enclosed dome then there is no such thing as the "Force" of gravity. It is simply what goes up will fall down if it faces no resistance. So again if we live on a flat plane in a dome there would be no force holding us down, we are simply on a flat surface.

Thoughts?

If there was no resistance why would anything ever stop going up?

Flat Earth Investigations / Re: Cruising the round earth?
« on: August 27, 2018, 07:47:02 PM »
I am looking for a discussion on a topic I witnessed. I went on a cruise to the Bahamas about two weeks ago. I have been getting into TFET for a few months now and thought this would be the perfect time to check the flat earth theory. While in the middle of the ocean I would level my eyesight with the railing of the ship. I would then level the railing with the horizon. I could then see a curve of the ocean on both sides of the middle point of the railing. Starting slight and would gain depth the farther away from the center I looked. I tried to get a picture; using my iPhoneX I did the best I could. My pictures help neither side of the argument. I have attached a drawing to depict what I saw. No comments on the skill of my drawing ;D , keep it professional.

Thank you
There is no way possible you saw anything remotely close to what you depict.

Distance between you and the railing?

I tried it from multiple view points. One being a foot away from the railing. One being 12 feet.  And so on. I played with it each day on my 4-day cruise. I always saw sky under the left and right side of the railing.

Of course I did not see a curve as dramatic as the image I drew. It was slight. I am attaching a photo. I placed the camera on the railing. Checked the leveling. And snapped the photo. The camera on a phone does not show a wide angle. Look at the photos and tell me if you see a small hump in the middle and then a taper to the sides.
I tried to post the images. They are two large to upload. I have added a few links for you.

Lately this had been discussed here
Lateral Curvature

From the railing of a ship, the observable curvature would only be a few arc minutes, a small fraction of a degree.

Thank you for this. I have to say my own personal experiment of this shows a curve. A slight curve but still a curve.
