Radiohead - OK Computer: This was leagues better than I expected. I’m not 100% sure what to say about it…while I’m not much of a cynic myself, I can definitely relate to many of the more pessimistic and cynical lyrics throughout the album even if I don’t fully agree with them. I feel the songs as more how one feels in the moment, not so much overall world-view, which makes it much more personal to me. One specific feeling I can relate to is “Karma Police”, in which (as I interpreted) the singer is judging all these people, rubbing ‘karma’ in their faces, only to pull back at the end and realize that he’s being just as bad by judging them. I have a problem with saying, doing, or feeling things in the moment that I regret later, particularly in arguments. My favourite though is, hands-down, “Climbing Up the Walls”. I just love the latent paranoia and unease littered throughout ever glint and glimmer of the scattered instrumentals, the innocent-yet-crippling worries many people feel, unfounded anxieties and such. I love that. And just in terms of sheer prettiness, “Exit Music (For a Film)” is quite the work of art.

So yeah, my favourite is easily “Climbing Up the Walls”, followed by “Exit Music (For a Film)” and “Karma Police”. From there I have some scattered third-tier favourites and a couple songs I didn’t like as much just by sheer virtue of not being as amazing as the rest, but there was no song I thought wasn’t wonderful.

Yay, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :D Those songs happen to be my favorites from the album as well, though I just love the whole album so much. Climbing Up the Walls has grown on me more recently to become my very favorite tied with Karma Police.

Rashomon (Akira Kurosawa)
Woah. This was a wonderful film. An incredibly captivating film about 4 completely different recollections of the same set of events. At first the films feel so simple, but the nature of truth becomes more complicated and intruiging as it moves from one story to the next. The cinematrography was also great, helping create the perfect mood, especially during the sequences in the woods. What really stuck out to me though, was the editing, and the way it was used to explore each story.
I was greatly impressed by this film, and I am definitely looking forward to seeing Kurosawa's other work.

Mulholland Dr. (David Lynch)
I first saw this some years ago and was totally perplexed by it. Seeing it now with fresh eyes I feel like it makes a lot more sense and actually contains, as Lynch insists, a linear narrative. With this clearer perspective on the narrative I was able to sit back and enjoy Lynch's mastery of atmosphere, suspense, abstraction, character development and overall direction which have come together to form one of his finest works, and a definite masterpiece of modern American cinema.

So glad to hear this, I completely agree. It was my second and third viewings that solidified Mulholland Dr. as my favorite film (now tied with The Master, of course). It is such a beautiful, and heartbreaking film. At this point I am usually in tears by the ending, even though it's still hard for me to describe what the film is in words.

Emergent feels to me like a work of science fiction. It is a very mysterious, atmospheric piece, giving off almost unsettling feelings at times. To me, the piece seems to have a mind of its own, never letting me become too familiar with it, which consider a great thing. It fills my mind with images of many weird, wonderful things. It certainly makes for a fantastic listening experience. I can say now that Emergent has definitely replaced Frozen Bob’s Estranged Wife as my favorite Cazazza Dan work.

Keep up the great work, Crudblud, I look forward to hearing what you give us next.

I play guitar in a band, but I don't have any current recordings. We are right in the middle of trying to find a new drummer. We play some sort of hard rock/metal.

Mainly I just want to get a piano so I can learn that. :[

I've been wanting to get into piano as well. Also violin/viola/cello

Waiting for Godot
Watched a film version of the play about 2 men waiting endlessly for a man named Godot. It all takes place in one bleak location containing one leafless tree, but it could not be more enthralling. The performances were particularly astounding and I really fell in love with the characters. I found it to be not only hilarious, but also a very moving existential piece. I'm not really sure how to fully describe my feelings for it, it's definitely something you would have to experience for yourself. This is certainly one of the best things I have experienced and I highly recommend it.
I also really hope to see a live performance of it one day.

David Lynch's Hotel Room
Finally watched all 3 episodes. It doesn't come close to Twin Peaks for me, but it's still one of the better shows I have seen. Amazing atmosphere and some really great dialogue. I liked the 1st and 3rd episodes the best. I still feel like I missed some details, so I will be going back and watching it again soon.

Suggestions & Concerns / Re: FES Video
« on: December 08, 2013, 12:25:19 AM »
I agree with it being an animation with no actual person in the video. Those are simply much more interesting to most of the internet, I think, whereas showing an actual person with a chalkboard is probably going to look comparatively amateur and kinda shoddy. Think slightly grainy, poor acoustics (almost definitely) that makes it seem filmed by some student for a school project...which is really just more a case of I doubt Rooster has professional recording equipment.

Whereas with a smaller animation and simply a voice-over, all we really need is an animator and a good microphone (which Crudblud might have, I don't know?).

Another important thing, I think, that a lot of people overlook, is that we should make sure to check the voice-over first. Moreso if Thork does it—no offense, it's just that Crudblud seems more like he'd be more inclined towards professional-sounding readings. I'd done acting and voice-over stuff in school for years, so I get overly critical about this stuff and get really upset with amateur readings where it's clearly from a script. :P

I agree with all of this.

I think there should be an American voice in the video. Not mine, though.
You what, mate?

On a more serious note, I was thinking I could work on a short intro we could use in our videos consistently. Something like the first 8 seconds of this. Do people think this would be a good idea?

I think it is a great idea. I'd love to see what you make.

And I released some of my best music yet this year, so I am happy about that.

I have enjoyed the music you released very much. Good work!
Frozen Bob's Estranged Wife is probably my favorite so far.
