Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Drugs should be legal.
« on: December 13, 2013, 09:33:09 PM »
except that with smoking weed, you are pretty much either sober or wasted.
Based on my extensive research, this is not true.

But yes, there is no valid reason for drugs to be illegal for adults.

That depends on the drug.  There's no problem with weed, but ones like meth that are highly addictive to the point that people spend all they have on the drug, and then go attack/rob others for drug money, should probably be illegal.

Also any that pose serious health risks should be illegal too.

I was thinking, what are the actual terms of this kid's probation, how close an eye are they going to keep on him, and what happens if he violates probation?

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Music as energy.
« on: December 13, 2013, 05:09:07 AM »
Music is one of the oldest art forms, and present in all cultures, but I wouldn't say that the culture and society are dependent on the quality of the music.  If there's any causal relationship between the two, it's probably the other way around.

I'm not sure what Texas laws are on driving, but at 16 he probably had taken a driver's ed course, which would have taught about the dangers of drunk driving.  Plus being the child of wealthy parents, he surely had access to enough media to run across PSA's about dangerous driving habits.

He was drinking underage, and the legal drinking age is common knowledge.  If nothing else, they should have nabbed him for that.  And what happned to the idea "ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking it?"

Like DuckDodgers said, he shouldn't have gotten off so easy just because of money.

Would 5 years of juvie followed by 5 years of probation have been a more reasonable sentence in this case?  Probation alone seems like only a very small step up from what his parents would do.

I saw this story on another forum, and the source there commented that a juvennile detention center offers the same counseling as his probation.

I wasn't able to watch the video. I am on my computer, but the connection is very slow (its bleeding off a neighbour's connection). First off, IRUSH is right. NO religion, not Judaism, not Christianity, not Islam, are going to say that they are wrong. That would be stupid.

As for Muslims generally, yes, I do despise them, and have never made it a secret. Only the latest models can talk. All the older ones are still swinging from their tails.  I don't care where they live, as long as its not in the USA or Israel. Both nations should deport every Muslim there. As far as the USA goes, the ones descending from somewhere else should get a free ride back, and warned that any return to the USA will result in them being shot. The ones that are converts here should be allowed to choose a Muslim country to go to, and should be offered the same treatment.

As far as Israel goes, EVERY SINGLE Arab needs to be deported from Greater Israel, without exception. Any who refuse to go need to be escorted out at gunpoint.

I'm no Nazi. I don't believe in murder, even when the receiving end is a camel jockey. But they need to go back where they came from, and need to be allowed to live there, and we should likewise have no Westerners or Israelis allowed in those countries for any purpose other than business. And we should become energy independent as soon as possible, thus being able to forbid any American or Israeli from being in those countries period, under penalty of losing their citizenship. Its a very elegant solution, and no one, not even a camel jockey, would have to die.

This post scared the living crap out of me.  I hope you never come into power of any kind, and I'm going to be keeping ctr+f on your posts for the word "camp" in the future.  I can understand a dislike of Muslims, especially if you feel close to the cultural and political tension in the Middle East, but this... This level of intolerance and prejudice is a scourge in humanity's heart that needs to be remedied, and I don't care about "who started it" because meeting hatred with hatred makes you no better than the ones you criticize.

Is there a way to un-brick a vista if editing a game script caused it to crash?

ITT: An REer just admitted to bendy light.

But since I am also RE, I agree that it would appear to slope upward gradually.  If you took a telescope and viewed as far out as you could, you would probably see the increasing gap between the water and bridge.

Update:

13 days left on the auction for flatearthsociety.org and I still have the only bid.  I expect a violent finish to the death where I end up losing hundreds of dollars.
inb4 Daniel snipes it in the last hour
Daniel is bankrupt.  He doesn't have the money to go hundreds of dollars with Junker.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Zimmerman could be innocent
« on: December 10, 2013, 02:25:34 PM »
If Zimmerman has a grain of sense in his brain, he will walk away from her forever.  Who in the right mind would willingly stay with someone who's going to falsely accuse you of pointing a gun at them and call 911 about it.  If the opposite is true and he did point a gun at her, she's an idiot for wanting him back.

Not sure if Zimmerman is the Bad Luck Brian of legal battles...

Or OJ2.

Flat Earth Community / Re: The Hebrew conception of Earth.
« on: December 06, 2013, 07:22:39 PM »
I'm not sure the shape of the Earth was relevant to the points God was making. After all, you're talking about people that were not likely to travel 50 miles from home in a lifetime. Even traders weren't going to go out of the Levant much or @ all.

Seems a little short sighted, wasn't he trying to make a book for all time?

Or should we chuck sections of it (like this one) away as outdated?

Again, talking from an outside perspective here, but I see the Old Testament's laws as a means to promote longevity and reproduction among the Jewish people.  Basically, it's to up their odds of survival.

Sorry since I'm not FE, but aside from mountains supporting the firmament this seems good for religious views.  You won't get much scientific support on this though since most here aren't of the Hebrew faith.

Flat Earth Community / Re: The FES

A place to challenge convention, and talk to people who have similar interests.

This should be promoted more. We should be more clear on the modern societies belief. There would be less angry noobs and more people promoting the FES image.

The Flat Earth Society of Canada promoted this message, and asserted it did not seek to promote FET.  Sadly it died out and I think efforts to revive it were unsuccessful.

Suggestions & Concerns / Re: FES Video
« on: December 04, 2013, 07:24:56 PM »
This is a wonderful idea.  The vid should also include a brief overview of some basic points in FET as well as dispel any misconceptions the general public may have about the FES, such as religious affiliation.

The .org admins dun it again.  Now Tom's thread on FE literature, which was what the wiki page on the topic linked to, has been erased.

Well, lets look @ Africa. It was a mess of constant wars & savagery before the British arrived, & since they left! Only under British rule was there prosperity & peace. I'll grant that this benefited chiefly the upper crust, but that was the case all over the world, not just Britain & its Empire. I'll have to go for a bit, but I'll be back this afternoon. I'll respond to new posts then.

Do you have any idea how often the British empire was at war with other European nations during that age?

139
To what areas of the world did they "bring civilization" to, and what makes the prior laws and customs of the people who came under British control not definitive of civilization for them?
