Title: Tsunami warnings

When tsunami wave estimates to reach landfall are measured and given to possibly affected countries, are the wave velocity/distance calculations measured according to globe or flat earth?

It is a flat earth calculation. No global gobbledegook included to account for any pretend curvature.


The square root of the depth multiplied by 9.81m/s gives the speed of a tsunami.

Why would it be needed?  The elevation of the surface is the same along the distance traveled (sure there are some swells), and depth is accounted for.

How does a tsunami get from Chile to Japan on the flat Earth?
