Title: What does the government gain from hiding the existence of flat earth?

What is the reason for them hiding it from us? If there's a dome over us, then that means nobody knows what's on the other side of the ice wall, I just really want to know what they would gain from it. Obviously it wouldn't be power, its not like they were trying to hide anyone from discovering it, it isn't for controlling a population because how would you even control people with the whole "Hey the Earth is round!" thing. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
