I'm sure we can all agree that this isn't acceptable. Moderators should not be able to close reports made against them.

An image depicting cartoon breasts was recently removed by an administrator who cited rule 7 as justification.
Fair enough, the image could have easily been considered NSFW. However, this doesn't even come close to being applied consistently. We have at least one thread in CN that is full of NSFW material (Post What You'd Hit).
I'm also confused by the phrasing of the rule's description, as it seems to contradict the rule itself. Specifically, this part: "Do not post material which is overly pornographic[...]". The use of the word "overly" implies that there is some form of pornography that is acceptable, yet I'm struggling to think of anything much tamer than a non-sexual cartoon depiction of breasts, which is what was removed.

Premiered on Sunday, two episodes have aired now. Anybody else seent it? I think both episodes are fantastic. People expecting BB levels of action will be disappointed, as the protaganist of this show is a sleazebag who schmoozes his way out of conflict. He'll never put on a pork pie hat and growl lines like "say my name" and expect us to take him seriously, thank El. He'll probably never shoot anybody, either.

I very much recommend this game to all of you fans of the 4X genre. I know there are a few Civfags here. For the most part I enjoy the mechanics of the Civilization IV and V, but the games also make me feel like I'm playing out the cartoonish fantasy of a stoned junior high history teacher. I can see how that might appeal to some, but as a super fucking serious person I prefer more thought to go into the settings of my games. The Endless universe (which consists of Endless Space, Endless Legend, and Dungeon of the Endless thus far) has a lot of very interesting history, races, characters, and locations. Amplitude Studios is pretty good at subverting standard sci-fi/fantasy tropes. There's even a race of draconian neckbeards who win by boring their opponents to death through tedious discussions about lore.
In other words, they are euphoric because they are enlightened by their own intelligence, not because of some phony god's blessing (this is actually a poor example of the creativity of the races. I just think it's funny). All of the races play very differently. There's also a rather expansive and non-linear research system.
Oh, also, the game is very beautiful. I know that might not matter much to fans of the genre, but I feel it's worth pointing out. Here's a screenshot I took of a smaller city in my most recent game. The district on the far right is under construction.
The soundtrack is also great. Anyway, has anybody else played this?

After seeing my brother wear a little pin depicting the logo, I finally gave in and made the $7,500 down payment for beta access. Despite its unfinished state, this is already my dream game. It's like a nearly perfect recreation of what I imagined was really happening when I played the original Escape Velocity as a child. I've found that nearly every feature I would like to see implemented at or sometime after release has already been planned by the developers, whose attitude concerning game design seems to be very similar to mine.
Anyway, I was wondering if anybody else has played this. I would guess not, so this can also serve as a general discussion thread concerning the recent rebirth of the space sim genre. I'm sure you nerds have some le epic trol opinions to share about the subject.

One of my hobbies is watching bad stand-up comedy. Brad Stine is perhaps my favorite bad comedian.
He's like a real life Bruce Chandling. If comedians and their routines could be produced from a factory assembly line, they would all look and sound like Brad Stine. He spends a lot of his act deriding political correctness. Wow. I, too, think that overt political correctness is silly. Now THIS is a guy I could share a beer with. He also thinks people who don't say "Merry Christmas" are "wusses". Oh yeah, he's a hardcore Christian.
Andrew Daly gets it.
Maybe I've just watched far too much stand-up. I don't know many people who enjoy this sort of thing. Does anybody else enjoy terrible comedy?
