I would just like to point out to the e-lawyers here that an formal declaration of war isn't some kind of strict legal prerequisite to any military action.  It's really just a formality that's pretty outdated in this day and age.

In the US the president can only send in troops for a certain period of time.  If that period of time expires and Congress has not declared war, the troops must withdraw per US law.

Bitcoin is starting to sound more like shares of stock than currency.

Is this how the rest of the world feels when we 'Murica up a country?

No, we don't annex countries after we "fix" them.

Not technically.

There is the Alaska one as well

The Alaskan one doesn't actually concern itself with FET, it's just a debate site that encourages people to think for themselves.

Edit: Oh wait, that's the Canadian one.

Can you explain CHIM in terms for someone who is way too tired to read up on it right now pretty please? :]

Apparantly anyone that knows CHIM can reshape the land.

Quote
The line "CHIM. Those who know it can reshape the land. Witness the home of the Red King Once Jungled," is a reference to the Godhead/CHIM theory proposed by Michael Kirkbride, about how Tiber Septim (the aforementioned 'Red King') used his abilities to alter Cyrodiil from the jungle described in lore from earlier games, to the way it appears in Oblivion.

How about allowing a user to still be able to read the boards while banned, even though they can't post?  At the very least they should be able to keep up with conversations so they're caught up when they come back.  It's better than them coming back with the last memorable conversation in their mind being the one they got banned in.
That's the same as name ban.

When I got test banned on the old site, I could read it as a guest until I tried to log in, then I couldn't read anything, even as a guest.

I could give you an answer, but how would we ever know if I am correct or not?

You could show your work.

He asked for someone to show the shortest route from Perth to Cape Town.  To me, that would be the shortest distance, and the places you pass over are what falls on the line from Perth to Cape Town.

So will someone kindly show the route on this monopolar map which minimizes the distance between Perth, Australia and Cape Town, South Africa, and give the what the distance of that route would be as indicated by the map?

Who doesn't like fried chicken and watermelon? I think we all know who the real racists are.
They did lose out on a tasty lunch.

Fried chicken amd cornbread are almost guaranteed for a celebratory lunch in the south.  Never seen watermelon though.  Drop the watermelon and they could have passed it as a country-style cookout.

EDIT: what Saddam said. The death penalty hasn't been shown to actually influence criminal's behavior in any way.

from what I remember it HAS been shown to influence a juries behaviour, in states where there's a mandatory death sentence for certain crimes juries are less likely to convict for those crimes.

I suspect that in the type of situation I'm talking about, this wouldn't be a problem.

What would you do if you believed all life is sacred and any killing is wrong (and that two wrongs don't make a right).

Let the guy go free or be directly responsible for his execution...

It's an issue, although I'm not sure if there's an option to get out of jury duty in those states if you don't feel you could ever support the death penalty.

I'm sure they would release you from jury duty if that were the case.  Even if they don't, you can still vote not guilty and force a hung jury so they have to get new jurors (seems like perverting the legal system I know, but it is a last resort option).

"Being your own bank" doesn't sound like an advantage because your savings wouldn't accumulate interest.
