I’m not convinced that pandering to people’s psychological issues is helping them.
The current medical consensus is that gender dysphoria is much more nuanced and complex than "psychological issues", and gaining official recognition as the gender you choose to identify with is a lengthy process filled with painful obstacles - not quite the same as "deciding that you identify as a woman".

The general public have a very elevated opinion of their understanding of these sort of issues, but when it comes to actually showing that understanding, it usually turns out to be vanishingly small. Any argument here will be meaningless if we don't even know what we're arguing about.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Why hasn't Earth broken apart so far?

Well in RE Earth the main force that keeps the planet from breaking apart is gravity.
Even if we squint our eyes very hard and assume that you meant "gravitation", that is plainly not the case, nor is it one that would distinguish between RE and FE.

I'm curious how our conservative thinkers feel about using federal TAX PAYER MONEY to give out guns, trucks, vacations, and $1.5 million?
Sounds pretty based, not gonna lie.

You didn't answer his question though
Yes - I explained why the question makes no sense under the OP's presumptions. It is only normal that I wouldn't answer a non-seq.

What holds the flat earth together?
It is currently unknown what holds matter together, regardless of what matter it is, and regardless of the shape of the Earth. There was some speculation around the Ds3* particle, but that went nowhere so far afaik.

In other words, this is a silly question, made in a poor attempt at a "gotcha". OP's preferred theory doesn't get us any closer to a meaningful answer.

Congratulations and good luck!

Of course. As soon as you present us with a proof of purchase, we will nuke any posts specified, or, in case of ambiguity, your entire account.

If you have something to discuss, try to find out what it is before posting. We won't be guessing.

Note that the comment that I answer to implies that all energy comes from heat deep underground the surface. This cannot be true and this is what I am trying to counterargue against.
Yes, you took a Round Earther's edgy/ironic post, altered its meaning by inferring an "implication" you admit was nonsensical, and wasted everyone's time with meaningless RE infighting. Perhaps we can get back to discussing FET now, preferably without trying to deny the concepts of day and night?

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Irish reunification

In retrospect I don't always make smart decisions, but I will defend to the death my right to keep on making stupid choices.
Ah, shit, I absolutely did not mean to suggest that you shouldn't make your choices. Just that perhaps past mistakes might help with future decisions.

(incidentally, I voted 2.).
Do you think it might be time for a "lessons learned" session before a hypothetical reunification vote, or do you intend to just keep on keeping on?

72
He clearly said “major source”
I don't see how this changes the simple contradiction in his argument.

73
If this was the major source of energy in the surface, then temperatures would not drop at night or when the sun is blocked from clouds.
This doesn't even begin to make sense - if you have 2 sources of heat (in the colloquial meaning of the word) and you remove one, the temperature is going to drop. The existence of multiple sources of something does not change the fundamentals of subtraction.

The idea of having a cellular Apple watch and not needing to bring your phone everywhere is p dope, but T-mobile charges $10 a month to add it to your regular plan. Without a cellular plan, the Apple Watch just seems very redundant.
Yes, fair enough. She works for a major telco, so she gets a ridiculous discount on all plans. IIRC she had a Fitbit Charge 2 back in the day, but ended up switching because she likes having everything within the same ecosystem.

Me, I don't get smart watches at all, but that's probably just because I'm getting old. >:(

75
I don't think she really uses it for phone calls - it would take a special kind of stupid to try using a watch as a main driver.

76
I don't, but my partner has used a few smart watches and settled on Apple. I can pass some questions on if you'd like

In a shocking turn of events, the full copy never reached me. Considering that we've been waiting for 6 years, it's probably safe to assume bumping this thread will not help.

Jimster, you really ought to find out what the FEI board is for before posting in it.

there is no gravity on Flat Earth
This statement is false.

Start with a simple (thought) experiment: Put some dirt into your hand and throw it in the sky; What happens to the dirt? Obviously, it disintegrates in the air and you get a mess.
The Earth, round or flat, does not even remotely resemble a handful of dirt. Anyone can make up a ludicrous non-sequitur, but they don't really help advance a discussion.

Consider the following thought experiment: if I put a slice of salami in my mouth and chew it, I experience a delightful medley of umami and fatty goodness. Why, oh why, doesn't the same happen to the supposedly round Earth?
