Title: Need Help - Blurry Picture posts
Post by: Tron on August 19, 2021, 11:27:44 PM
Hi All,

I have nice photo(s) which i'd like to post, but every time I use the "img" icon and submit my Imbb image hosting link, the photo is displayed very blurry in the preview so you can't see the fine details.

I've tried everything and any help is appreciated!

I would suggest you post them anyway.

If the source pic is clear, anyone who wants to see the detail can right-click on the image in the thread, select "Copy image address" from the pop-up menu, and open a new tab with that URL to browse the image directly.

Good lord, Tumeni, if you don't have anything useful to say, you should really consider the option of just saying nothing.

Anyway:

This is not at all a forum problem. It looks like what you're doing is copying the thumbnail from the final upload page. I just tried using imgbb to upload one of your pictures and was greeted with this screen:

Copy-pasting the image of the tiny thumbnail, predictably, produces a tiny thumbnail. The same goes for copying the "BBCode thumbnail linked" code

(https://i.ibb.co/pXVJxHB/Moon-eclips.jpg)

I've had more success with "BBCode full linked", except it insidiously tries to smuggle an advertising link:

Code: [Select]
[url=https://ibb.co/pXVJxHB][img]https://i.ibb.co/zf9Gr3T/Moon-eclips.jpg[/img][/url]
[url=https://somedodgywebsite.example.com/]volkswagen jetta 0 60[/url]

Isolating just the [img]https://i.ibb.co/zf9Gr3T/Moon-eclips.jpg[/img] finally produces a reasonable result:

Based on that experience, my advice would be to steer clear of imgbb - there are alternatives out there which don't introduce needless extra steps, and which don't try to inject ads into your posts. Imgur might work for you, try this on for size:

Note that you can also alter the size of your image by specifying its width in pixels. For example, [img width=300]https://i.imgur.com/abc5TwY.jpg[/img] will produce the following:

(https://i.imgur.com/abc5TwY.jpg)

while [img width=500]https://i.imgur.com/abc5TwY.jpg[/img] will predictably be larger:

It's generally good practice to try and ensure that your images are reasonably sized within the post, so it's good to keep this in mind.
