What does this have to do with satellites?

I don't think junker really cares either way about your moral outrage and efforts to limit freedom of speech. This isn't Germany. Who cares what that person puts into their profile text? Take it to the lower forua.
Since no one is outraged at your outrage to our outrage and the satellite thing was debunked on the first page shall we call this the end?
I know, I promised to go and I will, just couldn't help replying to Tom as I think he is such a good bloke...............Quote

If I may, allow me politely disagree: my comment was to help others see the lack of credibility of the op, which is important when discussing pretty much anything, and thus is very relevant. Plus there’s no way to further derail this topic: the question has been answered and flat-heads have nothing to respond (as usual).

Hmm, the OP is a Holocaust denier... As I’ve pointed out before, it seems to be a trend among flat-heads (not all, I know, but a bit too many for it not to be a sign). Just sayin’...

So, I will give you one last warning to refrain from off-topic posting, derailing threads, etc. You are on 3 bans already, next one is permanent.

So someone starts a topic with a claim that the Holocaust is a hoax. That claim is still there, right at the start of this thread. Anyone who reads the thread can see it. A normal person would regard that as being far more significant that the rubbish she was spouting about satellites, which was debunked almost immediately. (Second post in this thread).

Hi y'all. I am a typical GENIUS girl who does NOT follow the masses and who does NOT blindly accept what is told to me without EVIDENCE. That being said, I don't believe in a lot of "facts" (the quotations mean they're NOT actual facts) including evolution, the holocaust, and the globular earth HYPOTHESIS.

My emphases.

I would have thought that a sensible, rational moderator would have thought "Oh, maybe allowing people to put forward explicit Holocaust denial is a bad thing for our movement. It will cause people to characterise us as a bunch of Nazis". Instead, we are treated to people being banned permanently for pointing it out.

I don't expect this post to get a different reaction, btw. However, when someone decides that denying the great crime of the twentieth century is less significant than a rambling nonsense thread about how satellites work, it says a lot about what kind of movement this is.
No one here cares what people's personal beliefs are as long as you follow the rules. I really don't understand what is so hard about that for some of you to understand. Also, this post has nothing to do with the thread. You are on a long string of warnings and bans already. I will give you one more, but the next step is a permanent ban. Given that you still haven't figured out how this place works, I don't have much hope that you will gain any self-awareness before your next post. But again, one more chance.

Well said.
Refrain from "me too" posts that don't any anything to the topic or discussion. Warned.
My intention was to abandon this group due to unfair moderation but I made a mistake popping my head round the door (hopefully wont happen again). Holocaust deniers are the scum of the earth, so I had to make this post. You dont care about peoples beliefs with regards to this, the rest of the world does. Banning anyone for stating this makes you one. Deleting this post or moving it somewhere else so people dont read it, makes you one. Not dealing with people who post regarding this makes you one. Either operate as a responsible moderator or pass the job on to someone else.

I will assume that since this post has remained here and unchanged, no one here is a holocaust denier....good!
I will try not to pop my head round the door anymore. See you at the Bronie convention at the end of July, Pete (aka Twilight sparkle) your costume was a real knock out last time.

Also, if you haven't heard of bronies before, that reflects poorly on your understanding of the world that surrounds you. It's practically impossible not to know about them.

Flat Earth Theory / Removed to nonsense
« on: May 20, 2018, 10:14:30 AM »
I was about to reply to a post here, explaining how certain topics (I was going to list and explain in detail) are considered no go for RE and explain how if these are touched on the post gets moved to nonsense or ranting by the FE moderator (note: moderators are only flat earthers and they reserve the right to decide what is nonsense and what isnt, something which in any debate isnt fair)

but the post was moved to nonsense..................and this one probably will be.

Flat Earth Theory / True Horizon Level
« on: May 11, 2018, 04:25:08 PM »
Would someone explain to me why on a Flat Earth the horizon will not be the edge of the flat earth. This is A FACT if the Earth is Flat. It will only be untrue if the Earth isn't Flat. Isnt that what the Flat Earth society believes?

6
Flat earth can't even explain the motion of planets or how the sun is held above the earth... Good on you for "reaching for the stars" but I think dark matter is a bit beyond you (and me)
Have you red the file I have linked to? There is section called "Synge argument explains the Dark Matter and Dark Energy". If you have found a mistake in calculation or formulas, then please say.

Did you actually read my post or did you copy-paste it?

So, what do YOU think Kaku's point is?
He said it himself: "By rights we should not be here. By rights we should have been disintegrated in the moment of Big Bang." The atheism is the self-denial. His point is self-denial.

So what is the flat earth model explanation for dark matter, or neutrino oscillations, or anything else? What's the math behind the motion of the planets in your model? Because the math on the Academic Science side is pretty solid.

I have the according mathematics in the link in the thread (it leads to the file violationLaws in Researchgate). The math in the file proves the existence of new force field (it might be called Dark Force, but there is nothing demonic about it). And the math proves the violation of the conservation laws (including energy violation). All this is in favour of the Flat Earth Society, because without conservation laws any model of Reality is safe and sound.
Now if we are trying to relate a Flat Earth to current physical laws, we will get know where. If the Earth is Flat and the flying magic lamp is illuminating it with stars that are very near, the law of gravity is destroyed. FE people however dont require a law of gravity since the Earth is accelerating upwards at 1g along with the magic flying lamp (sun) and the mysterious stars. For these simple facts to be true it would mean that we are living in a very different universe from the current scientific model hence all current theory and laws become hogwash.

Since no FE'ers have replied, does this mean they concede?

There is literally no reason to make this post. It adds nothing to the thread. If that is what you think it means, then great. If you want to shitpost, do it in AR/CN. Warned.
I beg to differ, in a discussion with two opposing parties it is essential to know if the proof laid out by one party fully satisfies the other. Do they feel that they are wrong (and said information proves them wrong) or do they feel the argument presented isnt relevent to the discussion and hence do not reply. The question is concede or back off. If it is concede then no further proof is necessary, if unanswered because (A) they feel it irrelevant or (B) They didnt understand it or thought it was a pile of brown stuff, then more discussion is required. I hope that explains the point. If I recieve no answer, then let me know if it is for reason (A) or (B) or that you concede.

why do you all tell us NASA/Government are lying to us? What possible benefits are there to be gained? Don't tell me they are scared to admit they were wrong as science is always striving to better understand our universe.

They faked space travel during the space race, and when they faked it they made fake images of the earth that the public already believed--a spherical earth. Now NASA and other space agencies are just used as a cover for government leaders and the wealthy elite to take tax money from taxpayers. The money allocated to space agencies go into their pockets.

The space race was between 1957 - 1975. Photoshop debuted in 1987.

Explain how the fake images were created.

You do realize that the tools in Photoshop are just digital replications of the tools and processes that have existed in art studios for many years. Slice, erase, burn, sponge, smudge, et cetera.
Not only would they have to have faked them to a level that would not have been detectable then, they would need them to stand up to the scrutiny of investigative techniques decades into the future (ie now). Difficult to predict technology available decades ahead. If they had faked them back then, we would know now, the moon landing conspiracists are nearly as pedantic as the Flat Earth conspiracists, they would have proved them fake.

I know, but we still should try to be civilized.
A civilization dwelling on a flat earth.......I like the idea of that...........someone should patent it.

I don't care whose side you're on, but show respect.  This is scientific discussion and debate, not petty name-calling.
Science long since departed. If you only believe what you experience, even that falls down and we are left with Rene Descartes Evil Demon hypothesis or in more modern philosophy the simulation hypothesis (mentioned earlier by someone I believe). There really isnt anything solid to build on. Even the evil demon hypothesis that brought forth what was supposed to be the only thing that one can "guarantee" "I think therefore I am" collapses when one considers "who is the I, in "I think""

The space race was between the Russians and the Americans, how do think the Chinese fit in with that? were they just feeling left out.
ps The holocaust happened and anyone who said it didnt............is a piece of work

Because those working in space agencies aren't motivated by geopolitical concerns, and are instead typically more concerned with securing and protecting their funding and cushy jobs. This is true regardless of nation.

You are a bit naive if you think that is how Russia operates. Democratic election? Someone other than Putin having control on things. If Putin said the Earth was flat, the "electorate" would just have to learn to love it....no questions asked.

The funniest assertion is that all the scientists in NASA haven't figured out the true shape of the earth but a handful of conspiracy nuts have cracked it.
The biggest proof for me against the conspiracy theory, is as someone mentioned, that every one talks about NASA without considering the other space faring nations. The Soviets have a space program, China has a space program, why would they align themselves with the USA.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Any one here "in" on the "Conspiracy"?

I did try to copy the link but it didn’t work.
Junker already posted the link in this thread. You didn't need to do anything.

A discussion forum has to be about people. We all have what we believe, what we have said and what others have understood from it, if you take that away, nothing is left. One person may believe a post belongs under one discussion; one person may believe it belongs somewhere else.
As I said: If you do not like how things work here, go elsewhere. Nobody's forcing you to post here, but whilst you are our guest, we will ask you to follow our rules.
I havent broken any rules, well no more than you, just asked and answered questions.

You're getting wound up because of an unsubstantiated allegation of a guy who's been here for just about a month and managed to make a whopping 50 posts in the time.

I dont think youve been really following this...what guy are you talking about? I was talking about someone who has made a great many posts from what I can see over the years.

This isn’t a rant, spam or, for that matter, off topic (note topic heading "Any one here "in" on the "Conspiracy"?)
That's not for you to decide. It's the mods' job.
Look up Spam and Rant they are defined in the Oxford dictionary.....Im sure the moderator doesnt have a hand in writing the definitions,or is that another convention you flaunt? Do you have a FE version of the dictionary with "different" definitions.

that doesn’t look like spam or an attack on someone and wasn't effectively off topic
We upkeep a particular standard of discussion here, and the moment you resort to discussing individuals rather than ideas, you're likely falling short of the upper fora standard. Deliberating whether or is stupid or simply pretends to be stupid has very little to do with Flat Earth Debate *or* "the ultimate proof that the Earth is round", and is thus off-topic. You're more than welcome to disagree (though please do so in the appropriate board as per the rules), but please understand that it's very unlikely to change. There are plenty of online fora out there, and if this particular flavour doesn't suit you, please look elsewhere.

Also one can see the offending? post below
No. Circumventing moderation by re-introducing a moved post to the upper fora is not a good idea. One can see the offending post in the appropriate board, where it is public and available for everyone to view.
I did try to copy the link but it didn’t work.

Personally I think it both rude and unconscionable to wind up genuine people who do considerable research trying to explain the flaws in the flat earth argument by pretending to not understand or as the criticized post said, "building straw men". It is both obvious to me and obviously to the person who posted the info that you didn’t like, that certain individuals (you know who you are) are deliberately derailing discussions researched thoroughly by RE just for the fun of it.
This isn’t a rant, spam or, for that matter, off topic (note topic heading "Any one here "in" on the "Conspiracy"?)

There is a conspiracy here, especially as you say "deleted messages" I have seen posts, one today, deleted because it cast aspersions on a Flat Earth believer and Zetetic council member.

no there isn't, and no you haven't.
Yes I have, you are perhaps a bit slow on the uptake, A post about Tom with an accompanied youtube video highlighting that perhaps he wasnt who he says he is. I will try to find it on youtube if I can. Because you didnt see it doesnt mean that it wasnt there for a short time. You havent met everyone in the world, doesnt mean they dont exist. Why was this post deleted? It wasnt there for long so you probably missed it. As with others I have seen, that have been deleted.

Sorry fam, post was split and moved, not deleted. I was initially just going to remove the video and give a warning, but it really was just an off-topic rant.

For everyone else, posts rarely get deleted. Things get split/moved a lot if they break rules, or merged if recent and similar topics exist. Usually only spam bots get deleted. Even absolute shitposts just get moved to the bottom fora, and warnings/bans issued as needed.
No disrespect but that doesn’t look like spam or an attack on someone and wasn't effectively off topic. I think the heated thread at the time was questioning how certain FE individuals could be so "dense" as to not understand certain aspects put forward in the thread discussion by a RE. Said post just pointed out that certain FE members were deliberately being "obtuse" and to not get too upset about it.  It also highlighted a video which was about an individual who may not be who he seemed. I have found the link on youtube and would be happy to post it here if anyone wants to see it.

Also one can see the offending? post below

EDIT - Removing quoted text from a removed post. -junker

I've been reading these forums for a few months now (without an account) and have never come across a post from anyone that is in on this RE conspiracy.  According the FE community I would qualify as being in on it.  I'm curious if I'm the only one that has posted or have they been deleted?
There is a conspiracy here, especially as you say "deleted messages" I have seen posts, one today, deleted because it cast aspersions on a Flat Earth believer and Zetetic council member. Remeber what you see here has been editited by a moderator who is a Flat Earth believer. This makes the debate a moot point. No posts should be deleted, if they are irrelevent, they will be passed over and it shouldnt be for a Flat Earther to decide what is "relevent" to the discussion.

I have derived a formula (see working below) considering a sphere of 6371km to see how much of something is obscured for an observer of given height at given distance from a feature that is on the circles surface. (I will probably set this as an exercise for my students)

Formula derivation
https://pasteboard.co/Her0ToJ.jpg

and have applied it to comparing theoretical data in relation to results gathered from the video to see if we are on a sphere of radius 6371km

Data comparison (theoretical and actual)
https://pasteboard.co/HetXwJD.jpg

Data from video

As you can see, there is a good match if the sphere we are on is 6371km in radius and viewing height is around 3m from sphere surface

Note, if you use this calculator app and copy in the formula link, you can check the calculations
https://www.desmos.com/calculator

Formula copy/paste
y=6371-\sqrt{\left(\left(6371\right)^2-\left(47.9-\sqrt{\left(.002+6371\right)^2-\left(6371\right)^2}\right)^2\right)}

I see no Flat Earthers have commented on this. I have looked through it and if the formula is correct, then we have to be on a sphere of radius 6300km. Otherwise the findings in the video would be wrong.
