Im trying to use the zetetic method to discover for myself the shape of the earth. Ok, so starting point is that the earth looks flat. Occams razor would lead to the conclusion from only this information that the earth is flat. Ok, so far so good. Then, I watch a sunset and I see a bright disc disappear below the horizon. Again, Occams razor leads to the conclusion that the sun is moving below the horizon. But the wiki says it moves above the earth at all times.

So today I set up a mock earth with a flashlight as the sun all done to scale according to the wiki. My flashlight was 1" in diameter which mwant it had to be 93.75" above the mock earth, and I set my head on the floor about 30' away from the "sun". I could still see the face of the flashlight, so I backed up another 6' and could still barely make out the face of the flashlight but it was there. I also noticed the "sun" was still a considerable distance above the horizon of my imitation earth.

Now I have read in the wiki that thicker atmosphere can bend light and magnify it. This is completely counterintuitive. So, my question for you all is if you can give me an experiment I can carry out to prove this distortion.

I'm genuinely curious about how you feel when you hear that phrase from somebody and why you feel that way.

Not looking for facts or arguments for why. Just your emotional response.

Flat Earth Theory / GPS cannot work without satellites.

I have worked in extremely remote areas using GPS to find my way. No towers of any kind, even cell phone towers, exist in the areas I was in. The GPS system that I used showed me the locations of the satellites and even the names of the satellites that were tracking me. I could find any point from a map, plug the coordinates into the GPS, and get to within 1 meter of it.

If the earth really is flat, then my GPS system must have been programmed to fool me, since knowledge of satellite locations was important to the use of this system.

Is it reasonable to believe that this conspiracy goes so deep as to affect a device I only needed when I was moving from one location to the next?

The flat earth model states that planets orbit the sun. However, gravity in the commonly held sense doesn't exist. So what force keeps the planets in orbit?

Flat Earth Theory / Observation of the ISS

The other night I saw a notification by our local news station that the international space station would be passing overhead and would be visible between 6:56pm and 6:59 pm. It was a bright yellow dot that passed overhead at a very fast speed.

From a flat earth perspective, what else would this be if it's not the ISS?
