Let's return to the topic at hand, of a general policy for such issues.
Sounds like the kind of thing a Zetetic Council should decide upon. :D

Guys, end of discussion regarding EJ. He's been warned, and he will be banned if he keeps up what he was warned for, end of story. Any more posts about that issue in this thread will be deleted.

Let's return to the topic at hand, of a general policy for such issues.

Okay, so things have not been going well since EJ's return.  Pretty much every currently-active thread in PR&S is now revolving entirely around his stupid antics, and people - that is to say, Yaakov and spank - will not stop egging him on.  Yaakov in particular has begun this hilarious running gag where he posts the number of "orthographic errors" made in EJ's last post and nothing else.  It is beyond frustrating, and it's ridiculous that we still have to endure this.  I don't how we could phrase a new rule about this kind of nonsense - disruptive behavior, troublemaking - but for fuck's sake, he's got to go.

I agree, Saddam.

This will be resolved shortly, one way or the other.

Instigating? Knowingly and consistently irritating members? Monotonous posting? (in reference to the 'orthographic errors' thing)
That's how far the horizon is, not how far you can see.

"This rule is not to be enforced strictly. It is designed in regard to members who regularly and consistently post in a manner considered obnoxious by most other member, and who are believed beyond reasonable doubt to be doing so intentionally"?

While I do worry about such a rule being open to the possibility of abuse, I do worry that it may be necessary. I mean, maybe if it needs unanimity from the mods and the admins' approval. We'll see, I suppose.

Acting in such a way that is disruptive, and that fails to contribute to a thread that would be otherwise succeed as a place for serious discussion is not allowed. Acting consistently in this manner will lead to a warning, then the removal of your posts and related in that thread, then a ban. Should a ban be given, evidence of disruptive and clearly troll-like behaviour will be shown, to ensure this rule cannot be abused by staff who may dislike a member for personal reasons.

I dunno, musing. Also, the ban would be temporary, I picture, at first.

EJ has learned from previous short bans on the other site. If he is being disruptive in a serious thread, give him a bammy whammy. If you personally don't like him or his posting style, deal with it.

I agree. We're still discussing possibilities, but personally I'm pushing for issuing temporary bans of increasing length. That way he gets a fair chance to redeem himself, and he's being treated equally to all other members. There are a few opinions flying around in the top secret thread, but I'm sure we'll reach a conclusion Soon™.

Just put him into a group that only allows posting in the two nonsense forums. Once he stops posting nonsense, increase his privileges.

That is corrective, not exclusive.
