Scripts on the forum
« on: April 19, 2014, 07:05:48 PM »
Why are so many odd scripts trying to be run on this forum?

I've got NoScript on and it's currently blocking 26 scripts.  Stuff like easyinline.com, tvlsvc.com, peepsvr.com, tanzuku.net, and many more.

Is it just me?
If you are going to DebOOonK an expert then you have to at least provide a source with credentials of equal or greater relevance. Even then, it merely shows that some experts disagree with each other.

Why don't you just inspect the page?

On this page there are a couple of scripts for setting the themes, images, charset etc in the header.
A google analytics script. No surprises there.

In the body some more google muck. A bit moar for themes. One for the quick reply window.

There's 4 others outside the html. One for the topic, one for themes. One is the main page script which makes it viewable on many browsers etc and there is a sha1.js that looks like one of Parsifal's wet dreams as it sets up encoding to use VMs or something under a BSD license.

I don't see anything that wants to wipe my hard drive or sell me Viagra.

I had a quick look just to double-check, and as far as I can tell Google Analytics is the most offensive script we offer. Sounds like it's just you.

Great.  Now I gotta figure out what's injecting scripts into web pages...

I also use NoScript. It's currently allowing scripts from tfes.org, and blocking them from Google Analytics. Nothing else shows up in my NoScript menu.
when you try to mock anyone while also running the flat earth society. Lol

Except I don't.  Which is bothering me.

Thanks for the input all.

All is well.
A nice quick malware scan fixed everything.  Yay me.

How did you get malware to begin with?  Sounds like you have not gotten to the root of the problem.

It was adware, nothing malicious.  I think I know where I got it from.
