As a quick aside, Globers believe refraction generally makes objects rise and Levelers believe refraction makes objects sink?  MCToon used this as his main argument about why refraction cannot explain things on a flat Earth.

There is no consensous here?  Is there an experiment we can do?

Spirals do seem important in creation.  Galaxies spiral and so do weather phenomena like hurricanes, tornados, etc.   Often matter in the sky is compressed into more solid structures like rain and snow.  Perhaps galaxies and world's are created or maintained in a similar way.

I don't know if the universe is expanding.  I have a hunch it's like a big bubble.  But that's all I know.

Hey Guys,

As part of my wider investigation into Rockets within Vacuums, I'm looking into if space is a vacuum at all!  I came accross this video from the Parker Solar Probe that records the wind makes from the sun.  Just wild.

I easiest way for me to understand "light" is to compare it to sound.  If a person travels faster then the sound of the bullet, he will never hear it.  If he travels towards the bullet, then he iw travelling faster then its sound wave. 

If you travel away from earth faster then light, then you will see the past or whatever image you are moving away from.  if you stop, the image of earth will catch up.  i dont' know about approaching earth and seeing earth at another time..   And what about the sound of earth... if you  can "see" a particular time on earth, you may not hear its sound  because sound travels at a different speed.  you'd see the 1900's, but hear the sounds of the 1700's.

Pete I hear you - Some of my response to Tom's post below addresses your point.

The problem with the German Journalist's video's as outlined in the German legal notice, is that she seems to have broken away from "Journalistic" neutrality and has started to pick sides.

Now, I suppose under free speech a person is allowed to go into another war-torn country and report on what they see is happening there. 

Is she allowed to hold an opinion after spending six month's in Donbas?  I suppose.

But I think shen she speaks of Genocide, she needs to remember that the current Ukrainian government is fighting for terrority lost from sepratists and russians following the Maiden Revolution...  The current Ukrainian government might actually be fighting for people in Eastern Ukraine who don't want to leave Ukraine and declare themselves another state.  Not to mention violations to international law and of sovereign boundaries!  But if humanitarian issues are occuring underneath this all then that must be considered.

Lastly, I presume she understands the western narrative?  If she does, then I see no way to prosecute her.  She looked at both sides and reported.

MarkJo you have a good point about the "denazification" program by Russia and using "Nazi's" to do it...   I hate that word, lets just use "nationialists"...

Ukrainian nationalists who love there country are fighting hard to defend it...  Russian "nationialists" are fighting in Ukraine to protect Russian interests and Russian speaking citizens there.

I'm not sure what else can be said until a deal between the two countries is made.

I've been digging into this topic and I'm sort of on the fence still. If you launched an unbreakable balloon into space filled with highly pressurized air and released it out of the tip, I think it would probably stand still and just lose air. 

Rockets are built in a similar way.  Highly pressurized gas is released from a nozzle. 

If space is not a complete vacuum, which I don't believe it is, then the two above mechanisms should have propulsion from the exhaust.

Anyway, here's a fun picture of a metallic space balloon called Echo which was  the first satellite America sent into orbit.

That's a good analogy.  It's like firing a gun continually in space and being kicked backed over and over, faster and faster.

I knew Torque wasn't the word but it sounded legit.

I'm with you on space travel...  But to play devil's advocate consider this..

If you throw a bowling ball from a skateboard then you will move in the opposite direction.  Until of course the bowling ball drops and you lose speed because of ground resistance.

If you throw a bowling ball from a skateboard in space, you will probably move in the opposite direction but keep moving because there's no resistance.  I think that's the conservation of momentum principle.

However, whats giving you momentum in both scenarios is the initial torque generated by throwing the bowling ball or firing a bullet out of a gun.  But rockets don't "push" a spaceship for a second or two. They continually accelerate an object over time. 

If you had really long arms and pushed a bowling ball away from you on a skateboard for miles and miles the skateboard would probably stop after a few moments after the initial "push" is gone.

This principle might work in space if a ship needs to make a quick maneuver and continue slowly in one direction. I think they use quick shots of pressurized gas to move in space like in the Apollo movies.  But I'm not sure rockets can propel a spaceship continually over time in a near vacuum... Maybe thats why they loose the rocket boosters once in orbit?

I like thinking rockets are pushing against air and I don't understand other arguments.  Do they push internally against themselves?

I'm kindof new to this topic.

Stack, I think the point is Russia wants Ukraine to stop acting hostile towards it.  I don't think its more complicated then that.  If this can happen, talks about improving relations can maybe start.

The dome ideally would have to mimic the atmosphere of a spherical Earth as we know it.  A 'hidden' firmament may exist but I don't think it's 100% necessary to allow astral observations.   The center of a flat Earth would have higher then normal atmosphere height (to make a dome shape) but current estimates seem to allow from 50 to 400 miles in height variation guesses for some layers of the atmosphere so I can't rule this out yet.

How can we make a model of a round Earth and it's atmosphere to study?

How can we make a flat Earth model with an atmosphere to study?   

Magnetism, friction, or gravity may hold the atmosphere to the surface.   How to make a model of this and perhaps test it in a vacuum chamber is beyond me.
