Philosophy, Religion & Society / God sent Gandhi to Hell
« on: June 08, 2019, 06:19:40 PM »
Something I realized: due to Christian/Jewish/Islamic doctrine and the 10 commandments, Gandhi, who was Hindu, was not saved by Jesus/God.  Thus, he went to Hell.

Ask yourself: what kind of being is God if he sends Gandhi to Hell?

Suggestions & Concerns / WYSIWYG toggle - problem
« on: March 03, 2019, 05:07:02 AM »
So, copying from a webwpage (or google docs) to here my phone while the toggle is on causes all the font to be 2px.

Is there a way to set it to default off?  Or fix its copy paste formatting?

Makes you wonder how many other "scientific" endeavors have been cover stories.

Technology & Information / New Phone or Fix old one- advice request
« on: November 15, 2018, 08:42:26 PM »
So, here's the situation. My phone, an HTC One M9 is 3 and a half years old.  In the last few months, it's been shutting off suddenly.  Battery indicator is anywhere between 45% and 91% (average is about 70%) when it happens.  I'm pretty sure it's the battery and even a factory wipe didn't help.  My attempts to recalibrate the battery did not help.  When I charge it back up so it can boot, it reads the % that it was at when it lost power, unless I let it try to boot then power off a few times. (ie. I try to reboot it, watch it get into the process, then die) only the will it realize it's at 0%.  But even a full charge does nothing to help it.

So it's been shutting off randomly alot.  To the point where I've lost data because of it.  (nothing big, but things like bookmarks, settings, etc..)

So I have 2 options.1. Replace the battery.  That's 500Nok. (like $70)2. Get a new phone on a payment plan. (an additional $37 a month for 2 years)
My biggest unknown is: "How much damage does random poweroffs do to the other systems of a phone?"  Like, has it damaged the cpu or ram and I'll only have problems down the line?

What do you all think?

Philosophy, Religion & Society / A sane and moral political system...

This is what she posted:

https://www.dagsavisen.no/polopoly_fs/1.1117390.1521539552!/image/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/169_980/image.jpg

Basic translation:
We will change passports and citizenships of foreign fighters and terrorists quickly and effectively.  The Workers Party will vote it down.  In the fight against terror, we can't sit on our hands.

image words:
AP (Arbeides Party AKA Workers Party) thinks terrorist's rights are more important than the nation's security.

This caused a major uproar that forced her to resign.  Yet in America, that shit is basic level of politics.  If you aren't making unsubstantiated claims on facebook and twitter, you aren't doing it right.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / The only Embassy in Jeruselum

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/12/06/568748383/u-s-decision-on-jerusalem-sparks-anger-and-concern

There is literally no reason except to make Israel happy.   Though I never even knew there was  a law in place already.  What moron would allow such a law?  Oh right, all of them.  Even fucking Bill Clinton campaigned on it.

God damn idiots.

What the hell, is he hoping that if you strong arm everything and lock it in, it'll be fine?  Yes, Israel controls Jerusalem.  Yes they say it's their capital and have all their government stuff there.  Effectively it IS there capital but not being dicks about it to everyone else has helped.

I'm not sure what'll happen here but I expect ISIS will get a fuck ton more followers.

I fully expect those affected to deny being affected and call Facebook a liar and in Hillary Clinton's pocket.

Technology & Information / Amazon service lets them come inside

https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/news/2017/10/25/new-amazon-key-lets-delivery-driver-leave-packages-inside-front-door/796780001/

Summary:
Buy a camera and digital lock and Amazon delivery drivers can open your front door from their phone app.  And you can watch it live.  All so they can deliver packages inside your home instead of putting them on the doorstep.

How long before it gets hacked?

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Another mass shooting...

This one in Las Vegas, Nevada where gun laws are super lax.

It's sad but I'm so used to hearing about this stuff I just can't find myself caring anymore.

Still got shot by police and not a normal citizen though. :/

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Republican Tax Overhaul
« on: September 27, 2017, 06:05:23 PM »
http://www.npr.org/2017/09/27/553860929/republicans-outline-biggest-tax-code-overhaul-in-a-generation

I'm on the fence.
On one hand, it removes alot of deductions (so they say) which is good.
On the other hand, it drops corporate tax much lower than personal income tax.  But does put it in line with world average.
But world average is also dictated by alot of nations with very very low corporate tax rate.

Also, it'll severely deplete the national income which is gonna hurt everything but defense cause you know they aren't gonna cut a dime from that.

We'll have to see when they have their final proposal but overall I'm not opposed to their framework.

The senate has gotten the bill out in public.  Finally.

Now to read it, digest it, and then vote on it in about a week.

Basically, if a political or government figure blocks you on twitter, is that a violation of free spech since the government is preventing you from seeing and commenting on its message.

I'd say no since you can log out and read it.  But if they locked it to just friends while tweeting government messages...

So Dubai has started using robots for various clerk level tasks of the police force from reporting crimes to paying fines and getting information.

But soon, they'll have crime fighting abilities!
