Flat Earth Theory / Re: Proof from airplanes?
« on: November 16, 2017, 04:13:05 AM »
No way in the world the height of a commercial airline will get you to reliably detect any curve. I think you don't understand just how 'low' airplanes actually fly in comparison to the size of the Earth.

It annoys me when RE'ers try to use this as an argument as proof. Thousands and thousands of people everyday can look out a plane window and call out this BS.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Shape of the planets
« on: November 16, 2017, 03:49:22 AM »
Maybe you will have more luck on the 'other' flat earth forum. This one banned a few flat earth gurus who would have been able to answer your questions. Look for a member named İntikam. That guy is a legend  8) Both sites are run by controlled opposition though although I would say the genuine believers have gravitated over the other one. Just watch as I get warned or banned for speaking the truth.

As to my answer to your question, given we know so little about the universe and the nature of well anything, I have a more agnostic approach.

For example, there are theories (and these all came from well known scientific geeks) that our universe could be a holographic projection and that the '3 spatial dimensions' is merely a matter of perspective.

Or that it could be 10 spatial dimensions. We only occupy 3 so we cant fathom or comprehend anything greater anymore than a 2D flatlander could comprehend or view our 3D world. Those 'virtual' particles that seemingly 'pop' in and out of existence in defiance of the laws of physics? Well they may be occupying other spatial dimensions we aren't a part of and we only see flashes on their existence as they move around.

The shape of everything is also dependant on the speed you are travelling. If you were to hitch a ride on a photon, the start and finish lines of the ends of the universe would be on top of each other. Pretty flat

We could be in a matrix. Therefore our universe is rendered into nothing more than ones and zeros. Who's to say the programmers couldn't make an exception for what the shape of this planet is?

We could be a simulated universe. If we end up with the technology to create simulations so realistic that we could create a universe of people that believe everything is real, there is an infinitesimal chance that our universe is the 'real' one. There could be an infinite amount of simulated universe. Simulations within simulations for infinity. We may be in one of those. When mankind reaches 'the singularity', there is no limit to our technological potential.

Point is, I prefer not to settle on an answer without absolute proof. Unfortunately to satisfy me, that requires a complete understanding of the universe. An unlikely feat in my lifetime and perhaps beyond the reach of any human, ever.

So why couldn't a flat earth have a super heated bottom layer?

Nobody is saying Volcanoes don't exist so we know there is a layer of magma. And the amount of pressure and stress many hundreds of km of rock would be under, well of course there will be heat and movement. I still don't see the correlation between earthquakes and the notion it could only be happen on a spherical earth.

A flat plane could just as well have movement and quakes as a spherical one.

If you press a lot of so called Athiests, you will find that they are nominally Agnostic anyway. People don't understand the full implications of the term Athiest, its more like "I don't like like organised religion much so yeah, I'm an Athiest." Now we do have some real Athiests on here, and maybe even some FE Athiests. But just saying, "I'm an Athiest" and not knowing anything about your chosen philosophical worldview is no different to saying "I'm a Christian" or "I'm a Hare Krishna" or "I'm a White Rabbit" if you never bother to go to church, read a bible, eat vegetarian and hand out stickers, or hop up and down in a field. People are often inconsistent with what they believe and some just say stuff without even thinking.

Why could you not have movement under the earth if it were flat?

Imagine a large swimming pool with the surface of the water being where we live

Under the water, you have currents and disturbances which translate to the surface. Perhaps something at the bottom or underside of the disc is driving the tectonic plates.

The furthest we have ever dug a hole is just over 12km. We know earth quakes occur at depths much lower than this. You cant say for sure you know what's going on down there... I cant see, flat or round why it would make a difference anyway... This idea or argument about earthquakes not being able to happen on a flat earth is utterly preposterous.

Why so many atheists?  I don't get it unless there is trolling going on

Why would you expect it to be otherwise? The majority of people in the UK and some northern European countries are atheist. Australia is about 30-40% atheist and amongst millennial Americans, between 15 and 25% are atheist.

In such a small population size, it's not unreasonable to assume that the majority of members who have answered are from a demographic which is highly overrepresented on the internet. Considering most members are from The West, it would be far more unusual if they were Hindu or Buddhist.

Atheism is primarily being formed by the constant rise of scientism.

That's a load of crap. Even Einstein was not an atheist. I'm surprised agnosticism was not considered to be an option. I'm sure many more people (especially scientists) identify with that then an atheist.

Why are 'Christian/Jewish' together? Both are VERY different (yes Jewish/Christians/Muslims all worship the God of Abraham however you might as well lump Muslims with the Jewish too then

This is not a debate forum. I can't help that you can't get through that globe head conditioning to understand. For now, don't question flat earth answers in the Q&A.  Just accept

What you think is a straight line in the Flat Earth is actually curved in real life. You just don't know it because the curvature of space is not as flat or endless as we are led to believe.

If you want to travel from Sydney, Australia to South America you do not take a path 'as the crow flies'. Follow the longitude paths for the quickest route that is the same path as the globe model

Each square has roughly the same area. They are tiny in the centre but big at the edges. This is why it looks distorted. Remember you are looking at a 2D map the size of a sheet of paper of a 3D world, tens of thousands of km wide.

The flat earth map works. You guys just need to stop thinking like a brainwashed globetard

Oh Christ, EJ is back...

You better believe it. And consider him the 2nd coming of Christ when it comes to saving the flat earth collective. You are all like lost sheep wandering off. He is the Shepard that will bring us all back and together. This forum and the other one.

You think Revelations is the last chapter in the bible? You ain't seen nothing. Excelsior John will write a new chapter after the reunification of our societies. I look forward to reading it

Why disappointing? Would you like to see bloodshed and destruction? Some of these people could be very frightened about their future why you sit back and relax waiting for shit to hit the fan to prod you from your boredom.

I'm hoping for the most boring outcome possible. They sit down like mature adults, hash out their grievances and come to an amicable solution where everyone wins.

This one in Las Vegas, Nevada where gun laws are super lax.

It's sad but I'm so used to hearing about this stuff I just can't find myself caring anymore.

Still got shot by police and not a normal citizen though. :/
This brutul shooting is PROOF enuf that ALL guns must be band imediateley, and the pepel who sold them the guns lockd up in PRISIN! In my opinyin (wich is fact!) the primarey falt is on the evil rascist gunnut REPUBLICENS who only rasist gun cuntrul to carey owt there plan of GENASIDE agenst there oponints! And I find it SHAMFULL that Trump alowd this shooting to hapen undur his watch so a large chunk of the blame gos to him! But most importintley it turns owt the shootur was a MOSLUM! ISIL raveled that he had cunvertid to Mohamadenism six munths before the shooting thus furthur proofing that the vast majoritey of Islams are TERORISTS! We serousley need to do something abowt the Islam problum in America, baning the Islams mite be the WON thing I agree with Trump on! So the cawses of this shooting were Islam and Republicens!

I agree. All guns must be banned and outlawed. To the people who sold that old bastard those guns - they should be charged with accessory to murder. They facilitated the deaths of all those innocent people and to they even profited from it!!!! Disgusting!!!!

The politicians who refuse to ban the guns should also be locked up for sheer utter negligence for allowing this to happen in the first place. They are tasked with protecting the people. Not overseeing the slaughter of them. For shame!!

Whoops.
Lying to the FBI... why would such honest business folk do that?

Also, Trump's comments are just fun to read.

"This happened years ago..."
As though that suddenly makes it better.

Maybe we should use that for Hillary...

"That happened years ago..."

Way to take it out of context. I'm going to bet his 'years ago' reference was to do with the fact that it was before Trump had anything to do with being or running for President. So the insinuation that Trump did anything illegal in relation to these charges is nonsensical

Hillary has always been dirty, she should be locked up on any number of reasons.

I don't support Trump either by the way. He is an uncouth drongo undeserving of the highest office. I simply have no political bias to tell me what to think or which 'side' to support.

Suggestions & Concerns / Re: Renewed FES merger talks
« on: October 26, 2017, 02:55:54 AM »
Look, I'm just a noob of both of these forums so take my post how ever you like but it's quite clear that Intikam is a sticking point and while it seems trivial and insignificant in the grand scheme of things, I cant see how the forums could merge if it requires his permaban. I don't condone how he behaved over here and I don't disagree with you banning him for it but over the last few weeks or months he has mellowed out quite a lot and if the societies somehow, some way merged, he should be given another chance. He really has become a valued contributor. The other forum (including me who was once on his infamous list) are quite fond of him and we respect his character and the conviction of belief he brings to the Flat Earth community.

If you guys are serious that under no circumstance you will ever be part of a society that includes Intikam, given the amount of work and effort this undertaking would involve, I suggest you to shelve it. I'd love to see a unified flat earth society, however even if you guys did give Intikam a chance and made a whole host of concessions, I think your bigger battle is getting John to play ball and SCG to bury the hatchet. I just get the feeling John is being a bit disingenuous. I hope I am reading him wrong and he really is super busy, but I just don't think he will accept anything less than being the supreme 'Great' leader in anything that happens from here. You guys may have to make more concessions than is fair or reasonable. But then, what is the price of a unified society?

Flat Earth Theory / Re: The sunset
« on: June 30, 2017, 01:27:21 AM »

The electromagnetic spectrum is very broad and visible 'light' only makes up a tiny fraction of it.

If I had said visible light then you would have a point (Edit: if you wanted to seem really smart you could have mentioned particles that come from the sun). But this light vs electromagnetic spectrum issue is useless and irrelevant. You are only looking for superficial things to say "gochya" at and then call me dumb.

If you think its a stupid question then it should be easy for you to answer or explain yourself. If the sun is thousands of miles above us, then why do I see it cross the horizon at a constant angular speed twice a day?

Sigh. The Sun is approximately 150 million km away from us. We are on a spinning rock that orbits the Sun. In addition, the sun also orbits the galactic core which takes roughly 250 million years to complete. In addition to this, our local galactic cluster is heading towards a region in the universe dubbed 'The Great Attractor'.

You should not be looking at internet forums as educational institutions. No one here that will answer your questions will be properly accredited so treat everything you see online (including me) as BS until you are able to verify it yourself.

There was no misunderstanding on my part.

The electromagnetic spectrum is very broad and visible 'light' only makes up a tiny fraction of it.

Who here has seen the sun set?
Along with every other object in the sky, it moves across the sky at a constant angular velocity and then clearly crosses the horizon, weather you are on the sea, atop a skyscraper, or in a valley. (or on the iss)

How can this be?

They say there is no such thing as a stupid question but I think this one is the exception.  8)

Did you even go to school?
