Flat Earth Theory / Southern Summer Solstice
« on: July 04, 2021, 01:56:25 AM »
Everyone will agree the Southern Summer Solstice occurs on Dec 21/22 when the sun is on the Tropic of Capricorn.
From Auckland, NZ, for example, on those days, sunrise will be at 04:58 am and sunset at 19:30 pm (removing daylight saving). At these times the sun will at sunrise be at Longitude 075oW, (just off the coast of Chile), and at sunset 065oE (in the mid Indian Ocean).

Calculating a direction to the sun from Auckland at each time (from the accepted FE map) I get sunrise azimuth 036o, and sunset 330o, both a long way North of Auckland.
My problem is the actual reliably measured azimuths are 121o and 239o respectively, both quite a way to the South.

Could some wise person explain this discrepancy in FE Theory because I don't think the light bends 100o?
