Bad Stand-Up Comedy
« on: July 24, 2014, 01:14:44 PM »
One of my hobbies is watching bad stand-up comedy. Brad Stine is perhaps my favorite bad comedian.

He's like a real life Bruce Chandling. If comedians and their routines could be produced from a factory assembly line, they would all look and sound like Brad Stine. He spends a lot of his act deriding political correctness. Wow. I, too, think that overt political correctness is silly. Now THIS is a guy I could share a beer with. He also thinks people who don't say "Merry Christmas" are "wusses". Oh yeah, he's a hardcore Christian.

Andrew Daly gets it.

Maybe I've just watched far too much stand-up. I don't know many people who enjoy this sort of thing. Does anybody else enjoy terrible comedy?

I'm not sure where that routine was delivered, but I have a feeling that the audience was mostly made up of other comedians, which would explain the consistent laughter.

I was laughing the whole way through. He really nailed the aesthetic of mediocre stand-up.

As for me, I'm partial to Neil Hamburger, but I'm not sure if that counts as it's intentionally bad.

Jesus Cocking Christ. This guy is pining for the good old days before kids were spoiled by fancy air bags in their cars. Amazing. He also unironically tells a "nobody uses their turn signals" joke while doing the motion that I described above.

Just look at the shots of the audience. They're loving it. "Ha ha, people really don't use their turn signals!"

I can't find it at the moment, but there's a part in one of his acts where's he's talking about how political correctness is killing the U.S. or something, and suddenly he just starts yelling THAT'S WHAT AMERICA'S ALL ABOUT! YOU HEAR THAT HOLLYWOOD!! THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!!! The (rather large) crowd goes insane. They all stand up and applaud for like a full minute. Hollywood also hadn't been mentioned at all or even hinted at before that. It's hilarious. He's like a real life Bruce Chandling.

Is getting angry the proper reaction when watching Brad Stine stand-up? He's like king of cringe.

Define Cringe? Like he makes you cringe because he's bad obvious and dumb, or like OMG I can't believe he said that totally offended and cringing.

The airbag thing sort of made me angry. Maybe one day Brad Stine will be driving through my state in his vintage convertable hotrod, and he'll be hit by a drunk driver. Since his car obviously doesn't have airbags, his head smashes into the metal dashboard. His brain his severely damaged, and he's comatose. I visit him in the hospital, and just before I pull the plug, I whisper into his ear, "at least now there is more room for the good drivers."

Otherwise, I love it.

Oh, apparently he lives in Nashville. So we're basically neighbors.

No, wait, he actually lives in Brentwood. That's like 15 minutes away from me.
