Title: Unplanned outage, 2015-12-27
Post by: xasop on December 27, 2015, 10:28:48 AM
The server that hosts the website, forum, wiki and IRC was unreachable for about 14 minutes, from 10:05 to 10:19 UTC, 2015-12-27.

This appears to have been a transient outage with the hosting provider. As yet, no status information has been provided by Linode, although numerous others have commented on it on Twitter. I'll update this thread with any relevant notices.

This issue has not been completely resolved. For further updates in case the forum goes down again, please refer to Linode's status notice (https://linode.statuspage.io/incidents/6ykh24zpxv7q).

This is still ongoing, with short intermittent outages taking place. This appears to be part of a series of DDoS attacks on the Linode network - a number of their datacentres experienced similar issues over the past 2 days.

An incident page has now been created for the Fremont datacentre: http://status.linode.com/incidents/6ykh24zpxv7q

Linode have indicated restoration. This is probably over, but check that status page if the site goes down again.
