What inspired the 'official' story?
« on: May 19, 2019, 03:59:57 AM »
Hi there, I’m new so I hope my question isn’t silly, and it's in the right section. Please inform me if I have got anything wrong.

I’m getting my head around this idea that the authorities (NASA, government, military and/or wheoever else) are facilitating this ‘lie’ / ‘illusion’ about the earth being a globe and corresponding science (Gravity, the big bang, and so on).

(I am aware that some Flat Earthers don’t believe in the conspiracy, I am inclined to that conclusion, but still interested in this side of the debate, whether or not you believe in the conspiracy I’d still love for you to weigh in on why you think the globe theory is so widely accepted)

If there’s no such thing as spherical planets and giant suns and gravity making things move towards them – then what a very fantastic story indeed. So I have 2 questions (Maybe there's not one simple answer but I'm hoping to see what peoples theories are and what convinced them)

1. What is the 'story' based on/inspired by? Was someone (human?) very creative and just made it up, or are there really spheres and gravity out there in another part of the universe (so this is a Truman-like attempt to mimick it)?

2. When did the lying start? With Aristotle? With Copernicus? With NASA?

I don't think you'll find anyone here who believes in a conspiracy aimed expressly at "hiding" FE, rather than being a side-effect of other mistakes and/or lies.

Our Wiki page might be a good starting point: https://wiki.tfes.org/The_Conspiracy
