CN Mobile Formatting
« on: May 16, 2017, 11:15:19 PM »
Ok so I'm uber-noob here and maybe this has been discussed. If so, tell me to shut up.

Complete Nonsense is hard to read and navigate on a 5" mobile screen. Is there any way to keep the festive snow, but make it a little easier to use on a small screen like the rest of the fora?

It's something we're aware of. Blanko is the only one here with decent visual design skills (he made our main theme), and he was going to rework CN at one point, but I think he may have gotten distracted by IRL. Thanks for the reminder, I'll remind Blanko about it if he doesn't see this thread first.

Given that CN isn't exactly meant to be extremely well designed, I might look into forking the main theme and CN-ifying it. Even if it's just a temporary solution while a more appropriate theme is being developed, I think it would be a step forward.

Now that I'm not entirely occupied by school, I'm considering doing a design refresh for the entire theme (redo IA, build a proper atomic design core), which would involve making a CN variant as well. In the meanwhile, a temporary solution is appropriate, if SexWarrior wants to make one.

While we're considering this, it might also be worthwhile making CN more colour-blind-friendly. I know we've had colour-blind users in the past who have complained about the juxtaposed red and green.

If you're changing CN anyway you could make it so we could click on new/unread posts like we can in the other sections. Not a big deal but it would be a bit nicer.

Yes, a CN variant would have all the functionality of the main theme.

Agreed. There's no need for a Christmas theme to so strongly rely on R-G. Personally, I tend to run my designs through Color Oracle to get a rough idea - if anyone has better suggestions, I'm all ears.
