Well, in that case I suggest you look up what lolwut's posting is like now. Unless you can show how his current posting is any more disruptive than other CN content, then none of your arguments really bear any relevancy here.

I don't "spam the place up" you fucking idiot. Just CN which by definition states that if i have something that probably doesn't need to be said, post it there, which I do, then get threatened with ban messages by dumbshits.
Did you ever consider the possibility that others might want to play in CN as well and that you incessant spamming is ruining their chance to have fun there?  You act like an only child who was spoiled rotten and never learned to share.
Abandon hope all ye who press enter here.

It just happens that I have more things that don't need to be said than most people.  If others have things that don't need to be said, feel free to poast them!  I'll be sure to add my commentary.

Annoyingly, simply ignoring a user doesn't fix the issue of them bumping all the threads. Being as this user is the first to reply to everything, everything has his name next to it as the last post. So I can't tell what anyone else has been posting without going in to them and most are just him bumping with idiot replies. Ignore should mean ignore, as in this person's actions just become invisible to me.

I'm not a programer so forgive me if this unatainably stupid but is there a way that a function can be added that you click against somebodies name and their posts do not show up at all for you, as I would press it without hesitation for this person alone.
Just to be clear, you are all terrific, but everything you say is exactly what a moron would say.

Yes, of course! It's just code. I believe this software is written in PHP, which is easy enough to learn but rather nightmarish to main I would think. Great suggestion.

There's an additional caveat - SMF is poorly-written PHP. Seemingly trivial tasks often turn out to be not so trivial.

There's a bunch of stuff that I want to implement, but I find myself lacking in either time or patience. That said, our codebase is open, and I'm sure Parsifal will happily accept code from the community. If any code-literate FES'ers would like to see some changes, this would likely be the quickest route.

Interesting. I have no doubt that this PHP is poorly written as most PHP code is poorly written. I would be more than willing to submit some improvements to the code to our lord and savior PARDISFLA  should he be willing to accept from my fucking ass.  Obviously PizzaPlanet lacks the ability to resolve such issues technically and someone else needs to step in.

A large part of the reason this forum works as well as it does is that SexWarrior and I spent a couple of months powering through many bugs and features back when we first went live. As always, real life caught up with both of us in the end, but there are also much fewer pressing changes that need to be made these days.

For my part, I'm seeing the sights in Europe at the moment. My journey comes to an end in less than two weeks, at which point I will hopefully be able to spend some time reviewing changes and/or writing code.

You have a thread with 50 replies and 500 views regarding potentially fundamental changes to how this forum operates and you claim that there are "much fewer pressing issues" compared to the past?

I may be a fucking dickhead shitposting troll, but certainly no one can disagree that I've drawn attention to and stirred up much needed discussion regarding the moderation of these fora.

Given that there is only one such thread instead of ten, and that it's noteworthy precisely because it is unusual, yes.

Yes, and insofar as that discussion involves only policy decisions, I'm quite happy for Blanko and junker to handle things while I'm on vacation. Regarding technical changes, SexWarrior is more than capable of implementing them.

If it turns out that there's no headway on either front by the time I get back home, then I'll take a more active role. But I'm definitely not the only person who can do anything around here; that's why we have more than one admin.

As far as I'm concerned, you're far from a pressing issue, and you're certainly not multiple issues. Having 50 replies is also hardly a big deal - that's about as many as what Thork got when he complained about a relatively minor JS bug affecting a certain obscure browser.

The majority of this discussion could be avoided if the admins/mods stopped upholding the principles we expect of them and just banned you with popular support. If you think that mods refusing to do that is a "much needed discussion about the moderation of these fora", that's your prerogative.

I guess a lot of this is a matter of perspective. Your response of "all PHP code is bad code" makes me think I didn't stress enough just how bad SMF is. Think about it that way: you posting about cockshit is a considerably less pressing issue than SMF throwing a "database error" and denying access to anyone who tries connecting from an IPv6 address. That said, the easiest way for you to find out is to have a look at the code. This will also enable you to implement the changes you'd like to see without relying on me.

As if Pardisfla would accept code from my fucking ass.  I'd drop in a hidden cockshit easter egg.  Further, if SMF is so fucking horrible as you describe (which I don't doubt and will be having a look at the code later) why did you go with it in the first place?

We're not John Davis.

Originally, it was for the sake of familiarity. We wanted to offer our users an easy transition to a forum that's pretty much the same as the one they were leaving, except better. Also, I don't know about Parsifal, but personally I didn't expect it to be quite as bad as it turned out to be. I expected issues, but I also expected core functionality to work out of the box. And nowadays, there's no longer any need to switch. As PARDISFLA pointed out, we've resolved most pressing issues.

Most outstanding matters are functionality requests, which we'd have to deal with one way or another. It might be easier to deal with them under a different CMS, you'd also have to account for the cost of getting said CMS to work the way we want. That would be a one-off, but it'd be a pretty big one, and we couldn't even know for sure if what we're switching to is better.

[I] will be having a look at the code later
Enjoy.

You are aware that I am capable of reading PHP and understanding what it does, right? I don't need to trust you to accept your code.
