We love LEGO. You love LEGO. Everyone loves LEGO.

But when LEGO's halo effect is being used to sell propaganda to children, especially by an unethical corporation who are busy destroying the natural world our children will inherit, we have to do something.
http://grnpc.org/Ig0qP

Children's imaginations are an unspoilt wilderness. Help us stop Shell polluting them by telling LEGO to stop selling Shell-branded bricks and kits today. Sign our petition at http://grnpc.org/Ig0qP

Greenpeace is calling on LEGO to end its partnership with Shell to Save the Arctic

I just thought this was a clever video. Oh, and I signed the petition! :D

Lego bricks are made from plastic which comes from oil. Saying Lego is good but Shell is bad seems strange.

I think if I were Lego, I'd drop shell, make a Greenpeace limited edition set and donate all the proceeds to Greenpeace.

This is a PR disaster.

I'd then go about making sure we used as much recycled plastic as I could get my hands on.

By the way, the 'everything is awesome' song is a parody of lego's own movie. I just think the advertising company Greenpeace used have done an amazing job.

Lolwut. I would partner with one of the largest companies in the world before I'd partner with some hippy union. I hope you don't actually invest in any stocks, your business sense is abysmal.

Yep.
If you are going to DebOOonK an expert then you have to at least provide a source with credentials of equal or greater relevance. Even then, it merely shows that some experts disagree with each other.

I don't see Green Peace's argument. Last I checked oil spills were not a world wide epidemic. I also don't buy the evil implication that Shell is trying to kill the environment with oil spills.

Of course not, it'd be bad PR, and would cost them money for cleanup.

I don't know what you're implying, but you're probably wrong.

Then what is the video trying to say? That oil spill accidents sometimes happen and therefore Shell is a bad terrible sinful company which brainwashes the feeble minds of children with insidious Lego toys to turn them pro-industry and pro-oil?

It's a surprisingly good way of killing off an industry you don't like. Just look at how much nuclear power was set back due to irrelevant arguments making it look icky.

The argument is that Shell has been lobbying for drilling rights in the Artic. However, due to a catalogue of accidents and environmental mishaps, they have been refused rights. They are using companies like lego to try to improve their image so they can push for drilling rights again.

However I didn't post the video based on its political message. I posted it based on its creativity and how effective I thought it was.

...And apparently, it's not going on right now. The Ferrari sets from 2012 were also only released in a few countries.

I guess Greenpeace expects Lego to remove the Shell logo from sets released in the 80s?

According to Lego they have a long term contract. So it won't be the last.

Yeah, and now they won't leave me alone! >o<

They keep asking me to ring up lego, send money, giving me blow by blow updates of the banners they have made and school children that are singing outside the offices.

I signed the thing cos I like the video. Now Th*rk off and leave me in peace! >:(

once a hippie, always a hippie.

Hippies suffer the worst torments in hell, along with people who talk at the theater.

Lol Thork got suckered in by irrelevant happenings to support something he doesn't believe in and then bragged about it.

So Greenpeace have been in touch again. >:(

They have a new video and lots of stories about how children have been to the lego offices to protest.

It's as if they know I live in the same town as Lego HQ and could easily attend the rallies (they don't).

Did Greenpeace tell those kids that the Antarctic is cool or something? It's not. It's a chunk of ice. They wouldn't want to go there, and they sure as fuck wouldn't be taking their cats.

This is why propaganda is terrible.
