It looks like the worst case scenario hasn’t come to pass and the GOP will only take the house and not as strongly as many had predicted. I’m interested to see analysis on this as results get finalized to learn what exactly hampered GOP success. How’s everyone else feeling?

One of the leading contenders for the 2024 GOP Presidential nomination, Ron DeSantis, is requesting federal funds for hurricane relief. Relief sorely needed and granted without question by Biden. However, Ron DeSantis did not want the same aid to be extended to other states. Classic GOP policy making. Hurt others and help yourselves.

The Texas GOP released their new platform and it is special. Among the highlights of this gong show are officially rejecting the 2020 presidential election, referring to homosexuals as abnormal, a desire to ban all sex education, extending parental rights well beyond the age of majority in matters of healthcare, calling for a referendum on secession, tax breaks for the wealthy, abolishing the UN and some nod towards every other culture war issue the GOO has conjured over the last few years. If it wasn’t so scary, it would be hilarious and belong in the “Terrible Political Memes” thread.

Holy shit. Why are the GOP such fucking snowflakes?  Haven’t they figured out yet that kids can’t catch the gay?  Teaching kids about the existence of sexual orientation and non binary gender identity is crucial for the mental health of kids who might identify as LGBTQ+  It leads to a significant reduction in suicide among them. It also just fosters an open mind about people and any sort of deviation from mainstream identity in areas like disability, ethnicity, etc…

TX SB8 has opened such a Pandora’s box because it guarantees that vocal but small minority will be able to inhibit the education system. A true conservative principle would be to encourage the people who don’t want to participate in public education, to not rely on the government to fix their problems, but instead they are asking these bigoted fucktards to become a bigger burden on the government by tying up the legal system in pointless litigation and drain school coffers through payments of damages. The GOP sucks big donkey balls.

Hey, I want to uplaod and post some video clips but not to youtube.  I thought to use streamable.com, but the forum does not seem to like them.  You can see here that the embedded player doesn't work.  Does anyone know if this is an issue with streamable or the forum, and how it might be resolved, ideally by just using a different upload site?

I am going to share some clips from a scene study class I do.  We are given scenes that casting directors send out, prepare them at home, perform them in class and then get feedback from the coach.  The clips have our first pass at a scene and the last one.  Feel free to share any thoughts, just bear in mind that wardrobe and hair aren't the focus so some scenes I do not look the part, or even like I showered that day.  The first scene is from "Superman & Lois" where I play the dastardly billionaire, Sebastian Saint.

I can laugh off most of what comes from Action80s keyboard, but I find myself completely uncomfortable with his list of people who he blames for his family’s tragic deaths, and his vague threat that “he won’t forget”. Combined with the aggressive and angry DMs he likes to send, I feel like there is genuine malice coming from him that exceeds some debate bro rage or internet trolling.

I officially would ask that this be labeled as harassment and that Action80 be asked to stop this behaviour.

Suggestions & Concerns / Consistently editing posts without changing anything

I have noticed that Tom consistently edits his posts without making any changes.  This causes notifications to show there are unread posts when there aren't.  Is this against the rules?  It seems like abuse of this function should be.  I find it annoying to have to reread his posts to make see if I need to edit a response only to discover that nothing has changed.

If abuse of post editing is against the rules, let me know so I can decide if I want to bother reporting it.  If it isn't then I will just deal with it.

A client of mine needs to invest in a new laptop as their accounting machine. They want to spend less than $500 CAD and the machine only needs to run quick books, excel and surf the internet. I know Lenovo’s are reliable and reasonably priced, which are ideal qualities. So I found a refurbished 2017 Thinkpad or a new Ideapad at comparable cost, both from Newegg. Anyone have an opinion on which will be better value?

I fucking love everything that is happening right now with the Game Stop stocks.  I wish I had an investment account so I could get involved in fucking over a hedge fund or two.  It is really sad how the whole affair exposes the one loyalty every American media outlet and politician has: the money.  A bunch of retards on reddit start gaming the system like billionaires do on the daily and you get the head of NASDAQ calling for increased regulation on stonks and CNBC talking about shutting down discussion of stonks on social media groups.  Its hilariously corrupt and backwards.

Hey hive mind,

I have a friend who is so bad with computers that she makes me look like Parsifal.  She had used a tech company in India names TeckPCSupport to help her printer and macbook compatible.  A year later a guy called unsolicited from the same company.  He had an Indian accent and his name is Tony Martin, and he said that her computer had been compromised and offered to help her work through it.  Her terminal app, under the control of Tony Martin pulled up the following message:



As she was telling me the story, a few things struck me as odd:

• If she had been compromised, it is odd that her computer was being monitored by someone without her consent.
• It seems odd that Terminal would say something specific as "Ransomware has been uploaded"

What do you guys think, was she swindled?

BREAKING NEWS: She called the tech company she had enlisted to fix her printer and gave them the number that Tony Martin had given her and they were like, "lol wut?  Nah, yoo got fuked"

If she just got scammed, is this a situation where she formats her computer and changes all her passwords?

Thork decided to go full 4th Reich, and I am wondering if the mods considering moving his little outburst to AR?  I suppose the only rule it could be considered to contravene is the NSFW clause, but as I see it, it is hard to qualify as that.  Curious because it felt like his post was close to the line, but I am not sure if that is just my own personal feelings that he was being a twat.
