Flat earth messiah has appeared?
« on: February 08, 2015, 10:58:52 PM »
We don't have a figurehead ... a leader ... someone who goes out into the world and represents us.

Like all cults, we have been waiting for a prophet. A messiah. A new president to lead our society. I believe such a man now exists.

His name is Eric Dupay. A vocal flat earther who is out there right now getting lots of media coverage and exposing NASA and other entities. He does this tirelessly. Its his full time job. Talk shows, TV, radio. He also happens to follow us on Twitter and vice versa and so he is easy to contact.

This week he did 2 radio shows. He has a youtube channel filled with great flat earth content he makes. He's not religious or crazy or fanatical. He just lays down solid evidence for why earth is flat the way we have been doing for years.

He does all the things I would have expected from Shenton. It is my proposal to install him as a figure head of the society. We get our good name exposed. He has the title of "President of the flat earth society" which will help him grab headlines and further his efforts. I see a win for all.

His youtube channel

His Twitter account

his blogs
http://www.atlanteanconspiracy.com/

his website
http://whale.to/c/eric_dubay.html

his book! - which is bloody good from the first few chapters you can read for free

He does all the things we would ever want from a figurehead President. I propose we have found a new President and should approach him for the honorary position.

He seems to be "sceptimatic" on the .org forum.

Sceptimatic just writes whatever he thinks might be an answer on any given day. Sceptimatic doesn't create content or reason arguments or know anything about flat earth theory and its history. Sceptimatic just talks bollocks. And lots of it. And Sceptimatic is forum based and doesn't present the society in a way it can get noticed in a broader sense.

We don't have to agree with every detail from Eric Dupay, he says the earth is flat, he uses science and reason to prove it to be so, and he's getting media interest. For me, what else do you want from a figurehead of a society? For them to ignore the society for 8 months at a time to return once a year for a donation to orphaned rodents at Christmas and to make an occasional podcast about something unrelated to the earth being flat?

And you want to write a new book ... Eric's just written one.

His Flat Earth and NASA stuff is pretty decent. I don't like his Reptilian references. He seems to be trying to mesh together different conspiracy theories to create a motive. I would like to speak to him and ask why he believes this. Perhaps he has not considered more coherent ideas like NASA is simply mistaken, and that the conspiracy is only to fake space travel, not the shape of the earth.

Nonetheless, he does seem to have a lot of energy. I wouldn't mind it if we were to officiate him into the society and allow him to represent the Flat Earth Society in interviews, even if we can't convince him to think twice about his reptilian stuff.

I'm pretty sure we could load him with good stuff to take out there. Stuff that helps him but pushes our message. Lets see what other council members think before pushing it to the wider society. I think Pizaaplanet will squeal because he is desperate to do some sordid deal with Shenton and the cost of continuing his lame duck Presidency.

Are you thinking of Eric Dupay or Matthew Boylan? Several of those interviews are of Matthew Boylan. I thought this was who you were talking about:

I couldn't find any interviews with Eric.

I'm thinking of Dupay ... but he does find content from others everywhere.

After looking again at Eric, Eric does seem to be the better researcher in terms of sheer material. Matthew Boylan seems to be the better interviewee.

We should attempt to court them both, The arguments they use are good, but can be refined. A few of the arguments Eric uses are things we've discussed before, are fallacious and don't work. Much of it is good, however. Some things were discussed that even I haven't seen. We can use more people like him.

Indeed. I like them both. Even honorary titles they can use could benefit both the society and them from a sense of profile. I don't see why we wouldn't bestow titles upon people with whom we share a common goal.

This thread needs moar councillors.

I don't agree with installing some random dude we don't know as our glorious leader without knowing him. Let's only go as far as trying to get him on the forum. If everyone likes this guy as much as you do, Thork, then maybe there can be talk about him replacing Daniel, but I don't think randomly giving someone a figurehead position is good for the society. Especially while we're trying to give someone else that exact same figurehead position.
That's how far the horizon is, not how far you can see.

Who are we trying to give that exact figurehead position to and what do they do to promote the society in a similar way to these guys who make videos, go on radio shows, fill out auditoriums and go on topical debate TV programs?

Mark Sergant really does interview well. I wish Daniel had been that good. :(
