We really need more active ops there.  It's an absolute disaster when lolwut shows up with nobody there to kickban him and spams the channel to hell, which is currently happening.

Should've messaged me bro, I would have happily gone online and bannned him.

Everyone screams about how we need more active ops whenever this happens, which is followed by months and months of nobody caring. No matter how many ops we have, there is going to be the occasional time when nobody is looking at IRC.
when you try to mock anyone while also running the flat earth society. Lol

Yes, most everyone agrees that a basic form of flood protection would be preferable.

Regardless of whether or not that's a good idea, you're the only person I've heard suggest it, so extending that to "most everyone" is somewhat optimistic.

In any case, it would not have helped in this particular case.

The problem is that lolwut wasn't flooding. His messages were spaced apart by about a minute or so and spread across several nicks. His messages only appear to be flooding on the logs because he was gifted with an entire 2.5 hour period in which no mods were available.

While I do agree flood protection would be useful, flood protection wouldn't solve the lolwut phenomenon.

Your selective memory is kicking in again, I see. Hopefully the endorsements above make your "point" sufficiently irrelevant for it not to be worth pursuing.

Fair enough, although I don't strictly agree it would be completely inapplicable. One could come up with a sensible anti-monologue rule.

The messages were spread across multiple nicks and hosts. An anti-monologue rule wouldn't have stopped him, either. The only thing stopping Lolwut from doing even more damage than he's already done is Parsifal's massive banlist.

I want to officially and publicly complain about the IP ban I've been given with an exemption for the nick "Saddam."  It was funny at first, but now it's just annoying, and I have literally, objectively done nothing to deserve it.  It's all because Parsifal apparently doesn't like to see me with any nick other than "Saddam."

With all the kickings on whims and this stuff, I genuinely can't tell if the IRC has any rules at all. Can we basically just kick and ban anyone we feel like? Like...can I just permaban Rushy or beardo or something

Parsifal lifted the ban, or at least okayed someone else to do it, so it's all cool now.  Thanks, bro.

EDIT: lol nope looks like this wasn't true
