Thanks to all for the information. Since it costs so little, I will suggest to our administrator to pay for the same ads.

"Our"?  Aren't you banned?  Or is this another forum?

I agree with Vauxhall.

The only events requiring any sort of serious probability calculation are those that have not happened.

Then I'd like you to give me a probability calculation for something that has not happened.

Since life evolved/created/whatever on Earth, then it has occurred.  So you can't claim that life in the universe has never happened.

Right now we know of one single instance of life existing in the universe.

I say forget the drake equation.  Just go on this:
Earth exists.  Earth has life.  Earth has had life nearly extinct several times, so life is quite stubborn.  Therefore, if there exists a planet in the universe similar enough to Earth to exist in any state that our Earth has existed in during the time life has been on the planet, then we know that some form of life could exist there.  We don't know it does, but we know that, based on Earth, some form of life could survive.

We also know that, given identical conditions to Earth at the time life first formed, life should form elsewhere.  Physics and chemistry all that.

So, what are the odds that there is 1 planet in the universe similar to Earth enough to support the process that created life here?

What do you think of the deal with Iran being forged?

I think that even talking to Iran is the stupidest thing we could possibly do. Just a few days ago, one of their highest ranking generals was talking about wiping Israel off the map, and just a few days before that, they had people in the streets chanting "death to America". I hope Israel decides to take out their reactors. Obama is a traitor to the American people and should be tried for treason, found guilty, and treated as such. Even Arab nations such as Saudi Arabia, the which I normally hold in contempt, are questioning this deal with the Devil.
"highest ranking generals"?
Seriously?

First off, the only english news paper I found that had this information was an Israeli one.  So forgive me if I don't take their word for it.
Secondly, he isn't high ranking.
Mohammad Reza Naqdi, commander of Iran's Basij force is not, by any definition, a man of actual political clout.  He runs the Basij and can't even get a law to force women to wear the veil.  If he's the only one calling for death of Israel, I wouldn't worry.

« on: April 03, 2015, 03:55:34 PM »
Thork's opposition to same sex marriage is that the marriage allows for tax breaks that are meant for couples to make babies and not for couples who do not contribute to society's baby population.

Basically: Gays get the tax breaks meant for baby making.

Then try the powerplant.

and....what would that prove?  ???
its buried under a gazillion tonnes of concrete......

Actually it isn't.  They didn't seal it off.  You can walk right in.

You could go to the chernobyle site, find a spot of really high radiation, and just sit there for a few hours.  Let us know how it goes.

except....there aren't any such spots    :o
Then try the powerplant.

Well, not everything is a lie, that'd be impossible. Nuclear bombs, though, yeah, those are a lie. Nuclear power is real, though, which is why it is relatively rare and we're constantly told how dangerous it is. This is to keep the technology from becoming widespread and more people realizing that the same stuff that makes water boil can't blow up cities. At the same time, they can't make nuclear power completely vanish, otherwise people would question nuclear bombs.

the general consensus of the stuff on the "nuke lies" Forum (now inactive) seems to be that nuclear power is just as bogus....
one of the bits of evidence they use for that is the so-called "Chernobyl" incident in the Ukraine in the mid-1980s....although that may have been more of a hoax than any-thing to do with nuclear power, per se
so...according to them...there is zero evidence of radiation damage in the area....none to humans or wild-life.....all of which appear normal.....although....again....that may only be evidence that there is no such thing as "radiation" damage;

they claim that "nuclear power stations" are really 'storage units' or "dump loads" for when there is an excessive demand for power....i think the analogy they used was the FA Cup.....several million people watching it and, during the ad' breaks, they all get up to make a cuppa and boil the electric kettle in the kitchen....thereby 'taxing' the electricity supply to the tune of some-thing like several thousand mega-watts in one hit......that's when the "nuclear power station" dump loads cut in......

who knows?

i doubt if they're gunna let you into a "nuclear power station" to poke around here, there and every-where and asking a gazillion 'trick questions' of all & sundry .....so.......that just leaves believing what 'they' tell you.....

yeh, right!!   ::)

You could go to the chernobyle site, find a spot of really high radiation, and just sit there for a few hours.  Let us know how it goes.

I don't understand the fear of such data collection.  I know the government doesn't care about me specifically and I also know that the massive data isn't being analyzed by humans.  Not unless they focus on a specific person.

I also have no fear of my online activities being discovered.

And considering how freely people allow private entities to collect data (and how happy people are at posting information publicly) it seems weird.

Seriously, do we really want this guy as House Speaker?
Asked if America would be less safe if Homeland Security funding dropped off, Boenher answered: "If ands or buts were candy and nuts, every day would be Christmas."

Actually, this is a genius "if I had a nickel" analogy which says that budget cuts are second guessed all the time and that we can't go around with unwarranted fears of what might happen every day, otherwise budgets would go unrestrained and unchecked.
Except this wasn't about cutting Homeland Security's budget.  It was about tying Homeland Security's budget to overriding Obama's immigration reform executive order.  Basically, Boehner was saying that if Congress won't repeal the executive action that allows some illegal aliens to stay, then he's going to shut down the department responsible for keeping illegal aliens out.

Congress has the power of the purse. It represents the people. If they want illegal aliens out, that's what happens.
Seems counter productive to be.

Well fuck.  At this rate we'll have only 2 electronics companies by 2025.

But if it keeps AMD alive, well, I can't argue with it too much.

Thanks guys for being so helpful.

Rather than saying "that link in small font by your avatar at the very top of the page" you decide to be asses.

I really should have seen this coming.

I don't want to be notified by e-mail. Get out of my thread Lord Dave. You are misunderstanding basic English again and moving the thread away from its purpose.
No, I'm trying to figure out how you subscribe to a thread.  All I see is "notify" which has a handy "unnotify" button once you are notified.

You seem to be playing the Democrat/Republican game. You have one big forum for "ridiculing us" and this one, a smaller forum, for wasting our time with "academic pedantry".

Welcome to the public spotlight, acenci. I'm glad you finally came out from hiding.

Could you please cite where any of us have "ridiculed" flat Earth theory? Because I'm just not seeing it.
I think he's referring to the fact that we allow REers to post and insult FEers and their ideas without being banned instantly.

"legitimate society"...

I don't know much about this "legitimate society", because I don't read books, but this forum is not a legitimate flat earth forum. All that goes on here is making fun of flat earthers.

That is why we welcome this opportunity given to us by Eric: that is why he created the forum. Because many of us complained about these two forums where flat earthers just get ridiculed.

A place where we can discuss flat earth without your academic pedantry, without the ridicule by the fraternity dudes.

Yes, we are few and we are isolated. You are many, and you are wasting all this wealth of members: 57,000. Because that other forum is basically the same as here, except with more members.

You seem to be playing the Democrat/Republican game. You have one big forum for "ridiculing us" and this one, a smaller forum, for wasting our time with "academic pedantry".

How many of you have posted links to this forum to spread the truth about flat earth? I don't think so. You have no enthusiasm for flat earth.

I don't know if you are paid by the government or not, but your objective here seems to be to joke around all day long, all year long.

Any real flat earthers on these two forums are at least partly masochists.

Regarding the money he makes from donations or selling whatever he sells, he could even be begging for money. That's what the few people who don't sell out are forced to do in a society where basically we all have sold out, in a way or another.

Instead, for some reason, you guys have all day long to waste here, making jokes. You are in a good mood. And you don't have financial problems.
When the only view you allow yourself to see is your own, how can you ever be wrong?

Welcome Eric.

I am not a believer in the flat earth and even I think you're an insult to Flat Earth Research.  Knowledge should be freely spread, not hidden behind a monetary transaction.  Bribery is how the conspiracy works, it shouldn't be how seekers of truth work.

You disgrace them all.

I have a 2001 ford focus zx3 hatchback and a 2004 Toyota Prius with 310,000+ miles on it. (Exact number impossible to know due to design flaw in the odometer)

My next purchase will be whatever I can afford.  But I'll probably go with a ford focus if I can.  Love that car.

My dream car is the Chevy volt.  The Teela is second though only because I may need the gas engine more regularly next year.  Not that I'll be able to buy one or even charge it but still, dreams.

I heard that it's a worthy successor to SimCity4. Maxis certainly isn't making another city sim worth a damn.
Maxis isn't making another Sim game ever.
