Title: iOS
Post by: Misero on July 05, 2015, 02:17:04 PM
I've recently learned that iOS is a flexible operating system, when unlocked to its full potential. I'm able to manage my website via ssh and ftp, along with being able to edit the site directly from my phone. My only problem is how long it takes for a new jailbreak to be released. I'm just glad I could upgrade to 8.4 with the jailbreak released an hour after the update.
Does anyone else here use a jailbroken iOS device?

I think he means iOS but in his excitement he held the shift key down too early.

Very nice. I've been caught! I capitalized 1 letter wrong.

I prefer to use operating systems that actually perform the tasks I need them to without me having to do any nonsense to them.

I don't run iOS on my PC. I just said it was useful for managing things on the go.
And seriously, how much trouble is running one program?

If said program literally voids the warranty AND may make your phone unstable...

I'd say some.

One day I will just say "Cortana make breakfast" and all will be right in the world.

Ha, void your warranty? What warranty? The one that won't do anything if my screen is cracked to the point of unusability?

I read this as "I have no idea how to take care of my property and am upset that the manufacturer will not coddle me."

When did I say that this happens to me a lot? It's happened once, when one of my nephews got a hold of my phone. From that point forward, I used a Lifeproof case. Works well enough.

It was a terrible way to argue that voiding the warranty isn't a big deal. Warranties (almost) never cover user mishaps.

No, my phone did everything I needed out of the box because it doesn't suck.

Meh. Android would be nice, but iOS can be used for generally the same purpose.

And anyway, my warranty ran out 6 months ago.

When I was at the Google campus I saw mostly employees using MacBooks.

I assume that's due to google being mostly run from the web.

Goddamit iOS 9. Why exactly do we need a new package format?
Also, KERNELPANICS.

Because it has to work on 8 GB iPhones.

The "security" in iOS is just laughable. So you're patching tools that are fucking impossible to do without you intentionally doing them, like Pangu9, but you're not trying to patch that tiny little hole THAT ALLOWS A WEBPAGE TO STEAL AND DESTROY ALL OF THE INFORMATION ON YOUR PHONE.
