Title: Kahlil Gibran
Post by: Yaakov ben Avraham on December 28, 2013, 03:57:17 PM
Greeting: I was curious to see if any of you had read any Kahlil Gibran. For those who don't know, he lived 1883-1931. He was a Lebanese poet, artist, & philosopher. I've only read one of his, 'The Prophet', his magnum opus. My mother introduced me to me to it when I was about 15. It didn't make much sense then. I bought a copy of it on a whim yesterday. I'm liking it so far. He was a Maronite Catholic, but like many Lebanese, was open to currents running through Judaism, Islam, & Bahai. Any comments?

This isn't going to be another thread like the Erich von Daineken thread is it?

Von Daniken is an out there kind of guy. Gibran was a poet & philosopher. Not @ all the same kind of individual.
