Yes they have -

A bit more interesting than a balloon floating on the surface of a sink full of water...

Sit on a swing with a bowling ball and a larger beach ball in your lap.
Have a friend watching to observe your displacement while you do the following;
   1. Throw the beach ball away as hard as you can.
   2. Throw the bowling ball away as hard as you can.

You and the swing are expelling mass (the balls). One is heavy, the other is light. One displaces more atmosphere than the other.

I'm not even going to suggest the expected results of this experiment, I'll leave it to the Zetetics.

Flat Earth Community / Re: What is the Advantage of a Globe Theory?

Well.....I was in the US Navy and we certainly knew the earth is a globe and we certainly didn't use any flat earth maps for navigation.

Why being in the navy convinces you we live on a globe? I too was in the navy stationed on a ship for six years and i'm not convinced we live on a globe. If you where to remove all you ever heard about NASA, would you still be convince you live on a globe based on what you observe around you? If so, can you please give me some examples?
Stationed on a ship for six years, did you ever cast off? You don't seem to know what PLAIN sailing is.

I was in the navy too and I didn't see any globes on the bridge. Every map I saw was flat. In fact if you do some research they use to teach to navigate out to sea as if the world was flat.
No they don't - http://www.sailtrain.co.uk/navigation/rising.htm

Also, the charts are flat but they're a projection of the globe.

Compile?

I haven't been able to get all the cards through the card-reader yet!

You may want to check out the FE Wiki:

Complete bobbins!
It completely fails to explain the 24 hour summer day in the antarctic.
Have you ever seen a 24 hour summer day in the Antarctic?

Yes! You can go see it too - http://www.polarcruises.com/antarctica

You'd think that polar explorers trying to ascertain the position of the Geographic South Pole would have noticed the sun not appearing to rotate around their position;

However, you can experience the Coriolis Effect directly for yourself.

1. Find a playground roundabout.

2. Climb aboard and scoot it up to as good a speed as you can.

3. Haul yourself towards the centre (noting as you do, the increase in speed of rotation due to conservation of angular momentum [/hint])

4. Attempt to kick the hub with a big swing of your foot (laughter at this point is optional but most recommended)

Repeat steps 2 - 4 scooting the roundabout in the opposite direction. Note the difference in the kick attempts.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Ask a Flat Earth Theorist Anything

Got any evidence to back up these claims? How about some photographs of your weather balloons fitted with reflectors or your stratellites?
If it is "really that simple" then show us.

You do realize that Sonar uses sound waves but your picture depicts a weather balloon carrying a Radar reflector.

They now use GPS, satellite based.

GPS is not satellite based. It is based on sonar technology. Similar to mapping the oceans. Sonar travels through the air, bounces off weather balloons fixed with reflectors, then hits the geography below to map the land. There might be one or two stratellites involved. It's really that simple.

The stars get close and then spread apart from each other. They do not remain the same distance from each other at all times.

I'd be stuffed if I were to consider using the aparent position of stars for navigation then!

Oh, wait...

That's what Celestial Navigation is!

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Tides
« on: January 13, 2015, 12:33:11 PM »
Has anyone noticed that there are high tides at night when the Moon has been visible at noon? These are Spring Tides.

Spring Tides always occur every 2 weeks when the moon is full or close to new.

Neap Tides always occur between the Spring Tides when the Moon is half illuminated (waxing and waning)
