Please clarify If you beleive this occured. Does it comform with your theories that space orbit is impossible or could this occur in a flat world?

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Beyond the Ice Wall

The howling winds, hail/snow storms, and hurricane-like weather prevents safe travel beyond the Ice Wall. Most pilots are not brave enough (or stupid enough) to fly into such a dangerous enviroment. The ones who have (if any) have vanished without a trace.
Very convinient. Would it be possible to send an unmanned drone or vehicle on a research trip (suicide) trip?

I'm sorry, but which countries use the imperial system again?
Australia might not exist, but we still do not use this system, in any field.

I highly doubt that Australia, even if such a place existed, would ignore an industry standard solely because that standard is in imperial units. Unless you're claiming that such a place manufactures 100% of it's own materials, then you should heavily weigh your own statement and realize that you have no real basis for the claims you just made. I will go as far as to assert that you don't work in any industry, much less all of them simultaneously.

Big words.
Have you been living under a rock, or have you just stopped for one second and looked at the world?
Most countries in the world use the metric system you ignorant asshole.
My basis for this claim is the fact that i live here. What industry do you work in?
And remember, being an asshole isn't a real industry.

i think he is claiming that your fathers supposed admonition of " Look at this, son" clashes with your claim of not being a boy.
If you are claiming instead that you are a man, fair enough. i tip my hat to your genius six-year old self. it is amazing how much smarter you were then, than all the scientists in the world combined. roger1998 can claim more intelligence than you.
Good day sir/madam

Actually, it's funny, but the fastest way for someone to broadcast that they aren't in any scientific field (or at the very least, have yet to exit a university) is to complain that people aren't using the metric system. In most fields, especially engineering, the imperial and metric system are used side by side, as the most broadly standardized unit in a field is always used, which could easily be metric, imperial, or some horrific mix of both. The only people who are truly anal about using the metric system also happen to be the people who probably don't use most of it anyway.

Excuse my ignorance. the reason i made that point was that irushwithscvs posted a recommendation to seek other knowledge elsewhere. Wherever i go to seek extra knowledge, i am bombarded with absolutely nothing suggesting that anyone outside a blind fringe group ( no offence ) has even considered that the earth is flat.
I respectfully request that you keep my nationality out of this pizaaplanet.

I was taking the role of the devil's advocate, and employing reductio ad absurdum.
You can be assured, i agree with everything you are saying

What are your precise questions? I will try to supply you with the resources to discover the answers.

How about any actual irrefutable evidence that the Earth is flat?
On the contrary, sir, there is plenty of evidence the earth is flat.
However, it all relies on human observation, as all the satellites in the world are owned and bankrolled by NASA and the CIA.

I am afraid that your information is incorrect. There is no need to rely on satellites. The knowledge that the Earth is round was found thousands of years before satellites where around.
Human observations that led to this knowledge include but are not limited to:
-The gradual disappearance of ships over the horizon, the tops of the sails disappearing last.
-The shape of the curved shadow of the earth on the moon during eclipses.
-The variation of the sun's elevation with latitude. (This was the basis of Eratosthenes' measurement.)
-The variation of a star's elevation with latitude. The fact that one sees new stars as one moves north or south on the earth's surface.

I believe that a greek philosopher named Eratosthenes did the dual stick experiment ( not sure when ).
He planted two sticks, one in cyene, one in Alexandria. The difference in shadows was taken to mean that the earth is round.
FE theorists claim that this claim can be explained with a flat earth, in that the sun is only a few thousand miles above the earth. This is a little of topic, but why do FE theorists keep using miles and feet. This isn't very scientific.
And this is another indicator of the americans in the society.

Vauxhall the panda boy, here lie me questions.
1.How do you know scientifically that the earth is flat?
2. What made you see this way yourself? I am assuming that you were brainwashed as a child into believing this globular nonsense, so why and when the change?
3. what are the premise dimensions of the flat earth model? e.g. Width of the disc, distance to the sun, circumference?
3a. How do you know these measurements are accurate?
4. What are the ways that FET might be proved wrong?
5. Why has such a huge thing as the shape of the earth been hidden of so long?
5a. What would the perpetrators of the conspiracy ever hope to gain?

Once you are done with ( or ignore ) these queries, i have more.

Flat Earth Theory / Re: Palaeontology of a flat earth

There are various flat Earth models that maintain the Earth as an infinite plane and therefore in no need of any barrier keeping things from "falling off" the sides.

Adding to this, there are various flat Earth models that work without the Earth being infinite.

Aetheric Acceleration theory states that the aether is a force that pushes the Earth upwards, a lot of this aether escapes from the bottom of the disc and makes it way upward due to its acceleration. This creates a barrier (or wall, if you will) around Earth that keeps the water in.
Where is the evidence for Aetheric Acceleration? Please explain in Laymans terms, as i am no physicist ( or flat-earther )

Measurements point to it being true.
So... who to believe? Someone who simply cannot think or a scientific measurement? I choose the scientific measurement.

Whether or not the bulge is significant or not, it is not a perfect sphere. A difference of 42 kms is pretty small on a planetary scale, but certainly seems large enough if you were to go out and travel 42 kms.

Your analogy of rounding 0.3 to 1 instead of to 0 is an inaccurate analogy.
An oblate spheroid is a rotationally symmetric ellipsoid having a polar axis shorter than the diameter of the equatorial circle whose plane bisects it.
Because the difference is only 42 kms does not mean that the definition is moot.

Perhaps if you learn more about RET, you'll understand why it isn't true. I suggest going over more geodesy topics before engaging me again; I won't repeat myself ad infinitum only to have you argue the same incorrect point in a likewise manner.
I am noticing a pattern amongst FE'ers, the inability to point out much evidence, but purely to redirect someone to another source of evidence. Either admit that you don't know, or take the trouble to enlighten us. Claiming that you won't repeat yourself repeatedly is not an excuse to leave a discussion. If you don't want to repeat yourself ad infinitum, don't post.

so there is an infinite snowy wasteland everywhere except for a little insignificant circle. Kind of like the Japanese flag design.
correct? Could you answer my original questions also please? And tintagel claims that the ice wall might not be infinite.

no, you see.
A flat earth model requires a barrier of some kind at the edge to prevent water slipping off due to gravity (or something similar). Thus, we have the theory that antarctica is the ice wall that stretches all around the rim of the earth. This theory is predicated on the fact that Antarctica cannot move. But continental drift theory postulates that Antarctica was once much further north than it is now, possibly connected to Africa and Australia. Palaeontology also says that plant and animal life have been preserved there. This can either mean that the earth was in a warm period ( which does not at all correlate with some FE'ers claims that global warming isn't true), or that antarctica once lifted further north, into where the Indian Ocean is now.
This means that there wouldn't have been an ice wall, to prevent water slipping off. QED

Hi again,
Did dinosaurs exist on a flat earth, if at all?
What do you say to the claims of continental drift? As in Antarctica once being connected to Africa and Australia at one point?
What about the remains of vegetation found on antarctica indicating it used to be lush and forested?
Also, the discovery of life once existing there?
Both of these claims debunk the claim of antarctica being an (in)finite snowy wasteland. This is a fundamental part of FET, and thus requires some defence.

Flat Earth Theory / Geology of a flat earth
« on: January 18, 2015, 08:59:56 AM »
Hi all,
The conventional view of geology states that the earth is composed of a thin crust or lithosphere, then a large molten area known as the mantle, then a semi-solid outer core, and finally a solid iron inner core. This can explain things like continental drift, volcanoes, earthquakes and mountains. But, this view relies on gravity existing, the earth being spherical, and the word of governmental mining and research bodies. Thanks to this website, all three of these can be debunked(?).
If so, using the flat earth model, what would the internal composition of the world be?
Do tectonic plates exist? if so, how do they move without gravity induced convection currents?
And if tectonic plates don't exist, then how can volcanoes, earthquakes and mountain ranges be explained?
And please don't redirect me to the FAQ's, as they don't contain any of these answers.
Thanks
