Technology & Information / James Webb telescope launches!
« on: December 27, 2021, 11:24:16 AM »
The James Webb telescope has finally been launched.
It will dramatically increase our knowledge of the universe and it’s history.
It’s been a long time coming. Congrats to NASA and the worldwide team working in this project, including
the Arianne folks in France who built the launch vehicle. Bon Chance, James Webb!

Hey Moderators. Got a bit of a bone to pick. I posted a question about watching an event on Jupiter
and asked how FE theory got around the parallax issue when viewing such an event from various
points on earth. I was referred to another post about Jupiter (that didn't comment on parallax even a
little bit- so my question went unaddressed), and then found myself chastised because "that's not the way it works here",
"video evidence is not accepted", "how do we really know it happened", etc. (I saw the event with my own eyes)
And then...… my question was locked- still not addressed, by the way.
Seems that any question you don't like gets the "bum's rush". How can you hold a logical conversation with this sort
of nonsense going on?
Hell of a way to handle legitimate inquiry.

Flat Earth Investigations / shoemaker-levi question.
« on: July 13, 2020, 11:38:01 PM »
A lot of folk here scoff at gravitation, orbital mechanics, and the like. The earth is covered by a dome, a few hundred
miles up, the planets and sun and moon aren't that far away, etc. I was thinking about when the Shoemaker- Levi comet crashed into
Jupiter a few decades ago. We literally watched in telescopes as Jupiter's gravity tore apart the comet and swallowed it. We were able to predict
the orbit, and the impact. Thousands of people all over the world watched and recorded the event with powerful telescopes.
Now, if a telescope in Australia and a telescope in Chile both record the same images, with no parallax difference (Hubble did the same).
this is a rather definitive proof that this object (Jupiter) is very, very far away. How does FES theory cope with that?
Please don't skirt the issue by sending me links that explain nothing- tell me in your own words how it works. Orbital mechanics can predict the orbit and
behavior of any visible object in the night sky, anywhere in the solar system. How does FES even compete with that?

Idea here. Why doesn't the FES get a go-fund-me page going (or do it internally) and send a camera package up in a balloon to; let's say 150.000 feet.
The curvature of the earth would be visible. You would have total control of the camera package. Parachute it back, use live video, both.
It wouldn't be too expensive, I would think that true FES folk would jump at the chance to settle a few arguments. Alternately; put together a
fairly powerful laser and bounce a laser beam off the surface of the moon. You could easily code the laser so the result would be indisputable. The reflectors were left there
on various moon missions.
