Flat Earth Theory / Re: Gravity,Weight and Altitude?
« on: May 18, 2015, 02:52:58 AM »
Well, no....

In my city I have a high building. 579 feet from bottom to the top floor. If I weigh 10 grams on the bottom and weigh the same 10 grams on the top, it should weigh less than it did on the bottom.

Universal Acceleration says it should weigh the same. The top floor is accelerating at the same rate the bottom floor is.

Gravity says the mass of the earth and the mass of the 10 grams effect each other less the farther away they are.

So we could prove or disprove UA or Gravity. No?

From what I can tell no one here has done this experiment. For all we know the whole this is a conspiracy.

It would be fun to try it.

Flat Earth Theory / Gravity,Weight and Altitude?

So supposedly the father you are from the mass of the earth the less you will weigh. Has anyone tried this? I live in a city with a top floor at 579 feet. I wonder if I were to measure 10 grams of something at the bottom and then at the top could I see a difference? I think I can get a scale that maxes out to 20 grams and reads in .001 gram increments.

Anyone have an idea if 579 feet would work?

We should test that. I think it would be a fun collaborative venture if we had a few flat earth believers and spherical earth people preform the same experiment and posted our data here(maybe in a new thread or something).

I'm sure we could all agree on a test platform of some kind. Something cheap and easy to build.

Besides the fun of preforming a amateur global experiment it might be a way to move away from the FET vs RET vibe this board has. And like I said.... It'd be kinda fun.

Well, let's do the math for a flat earth and a spherical earth and see which angles we get? Wouldn't that say something towards determining which is correct?

If the sun is 150,000 or 150,000,000 km away we should be able to tell by the angles of shadows. No?

Um, I think you can tell the shape of the Earth by observing the sun. Or, I should say, you can find the shape of the earth if you observe the light that strikes the Earth.

If a few of us got together and plotted the shadow from a 1 meter pole at the same times I bet we could deduce what shape the Earth is.

"And I looked at your link. How does a tube that measures the speed of the air outside your plane tell you how fast your plane is traveling?"

If your asking how does a pitot tube work, here is the theory behind it.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitot_tube

As for measuring a distance it's not good because the fluid or air can be moving. So, if you're traveling at 100 kph, and the wind is traveling at 30 kph towards your nose, the pitot tube will read 100kph but over the ground you'll be traveling at 70 kph.

True airspeed has nothing to do with speed over the ground though. It has to do with temperature and altitude.

If you guys are arguing about measuring the Earth you can do it yourself.

Flat Earth Theory / Do any flat earth believers use sattelite TV?
« on: May 17, 2015, 09:59:08 PM »
I wonder because if you point a sattelite dish into the sky near the equator you have to point it straight up. If you install one in New Jersey you point it South and up at a low angle. If you live in Florida you point it South and at a higher angle. If you live in South Africa you point it North. And on and on.

Question..

Why do you point a dish straight up at the Equator and at an extream angle at Greenland?

And...

Can we use trigonometry to determine the altitude of the sattelite?

Maybe we could agree that both the flat earth belief and the string theory have, at present, nothing falsifiable.

The only problem is, string theory has a problem because the energies it needs to test are too small to test. We might be able to test them someday. The theory can develop things to test and just need to wait till we have the ability to test those.

Is there a reason flat earth belief can't be tested now?

The predictions String Theory will make will be falsifiable. Without a firm understanding of String Theory, something you can argue no one really has, we can't compare it to things like the Theory of Electromagnetism.

Flat Earth Theory can be tested.

Flat Earth Believers do not accept the mainstream data that disproves Flat Earth Belief.

Flat Earth Believers should develop and test and publish their own data proving the Flat Earth.

Dr David Thork, seems to believe supplying data like his is the same as "a subject you might have difficulty with". It's not.

Providing a kind of observation or data that could prove FET wrong is an important step to being a real scientific idea.

Because shadow governments get to pocket the money they are actually spending on space travel. If what you're really asking is, "Doesn't it make more sense that we are capable of space travel than having to construct an intricate and far-ranging global conspiracy just to explain away what amounts to a huge problem for Flat Earth theory?" then the answer is, "Yes."

Why not spend all this money on exploring "real" flat earth? The science discovered from exploring a flat earth would be more beneficial and profitable because it would be based on "real flat earth science".

Theory has to be falsifiable or it's just doctrine.
