Title: Rama Does Acting
Post by: Rama Set on December 03, 2021, 04:21:55 PM
I am going to share some clips from a scene study class I do.  We are given scenes that casting directors send out, prepare them at home, perform them in class and then get feedback from the coach.  The clips have our first pass at a scene and the last one.  Feel free to share any thoughts, just bear in mind that wardrobe and hair aren't the focus so some scenes I do not look the part, or even like I showered that day.  The first scene is from "Superman & Lois" where I play the dastardly billionaire, Sebastian Saint.

Well, you're no Jason Momoa, but I think you did pretty well. The smug insincerity in particular feels spot-on.

Nice! My dumb ass was wondering for a minute why you were being such a douche about it in the scene… then I realized that even though I don’t know that character, I’m obviously just a tool.

How long was it between first crack and final take for each? Pretty cool to see the evolution.

Right after. We do our scenes, then the coach gives us feedback and we go again. It takes a good coach or director to communicate the how and why something should change.

He doesn't get acting credit for being himself.

Feel free to share any thoughts,
You knew that I would.

Canadians are basically French people. I expected you to be dirty.

It was annoyingly passable. You could probably get a job in a low budget soap opera. Or gay porn.

Dude! I have to admit, I'm kind of impressed. Not just at your scene (which captured the moment when I personally fire employees) but that you would share it.

You know that you run the risk of some animal here taking a screencap from that video and using your face on some kind of meme or deepfake porn or something.

I'm thinking about doxxing myself a little and opening up more to this community. After all, you've shown your face and Thork showed his abs and his junk, the secret Santa thing is rolling. A number of members speak openly about the specific cities they live in. Maybe we could be more that a bunch of arguing people being shitty to each other.

It feels weird.

I wasn’t worried about that… until you just mentioned it.

Good job, Rama. There is noticeable improvement on the last run. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see you in a movie or TV show.

It's not the first time Rama or Thork have revealed themselves. I vaguely remember seeing Rama's imdb or at least a headshot before and we've all seen more of Thork than we'd like.

I've posted my pictures here before and have even stayed in a cabin in the woods with a fellow FES member. You open up however much you want, boo.

I've shown far more than that including my face and my voice. My problem is that I'm rather attractive and that makes the ugly people on this site angry and jealous. I jest, but people do get noticeably more hostile to me after a recent face reveal. You have been wormed.

If you do decide to post stuff about yourself, do it in a hidden forum. AR or CN are best. One that isn't searchable by google. Only an idiot would post a video of themselves in one of the upper forums. You don't want google connecting the dots and mixing here with something that is important like your linkedIn or something.

Finally, if it so happens that you are ugly, don't be surprised and angry when other people on this forum point that out.

Thanks. The past couple of years have been rough with the pandemic and the changing demographics in Film/TV, but it’s nice doing regular training again.

I have a friend in LA who does audition coaching. I can pass his info to you if you're interested.

You could definitely play Aragorn in a gay porn version of Lord of the Rings.

He's more like Boromir.

Dildo Teabaggins' famous novel, "The Throbbit, or Queer and Back Again".

Now, hi, you did a wonderful job in that, Rama!! It's been a long while since I've done any acting seriously (and most of mine was on stage), but watching this with the before and after reminds me how much I loved doing scenes and studies. 😭 The difference between before and after is very noticeable, too, and you seem more comfortable in your character and more certain in how you deliver lines! 😊

I would love to see you taking on different roles, if sharing these is something you're interested in! For all I know, you're just actually a sociopathic douche irl and this is just you being you. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lol. I will be posting different roles. I just don’t want to spam them. Scene study is very fun and I like doing it in a theatrical context too.

Thoughts.

I've never seen this show and I don't know if you're imitating this character or just doing your own take on it but a few things stand out.

I think you're talking just a little too quick.  It makes you sound a bit nervous.

Your pauses are a little too long IMO.

The last scene where Lois calls you out, I feel that your character is supposed to be irritated or angry or something but I'm not quite seeing much of a reaction.

Good projection.

It's been awhile!  This is a clip from a comedy in the vein of Ben Stiller's work.  I didn't approach it with as big an energy as it requires because I didn't prepare for the genre properly.  This is one of my biggest problems that I am trying to address.  Hope you enjoy!

Well you've ruled out comedy. I guess you are quickly eliminating your weaknesses so this is great progress.

There is a good chance you didn't understand what you were watching, so you will understand that I don't take you seriously.

Thanks for the input.  Now can you go admit you were wrong about vaccination in australia already, or do you just feel like running all day?

That's avatar material right there, just saying.

Also, I know you know this already, but Thork is wrong about everything, all the time, on purpose. Take his criticisms as compliments.

Rama reminds me of Jon Lajoie.
