THANK YOU, it was killing me trying to come up with that phrase.

So where are the pictures of our planet from space?

Can't you use google?  They are not hard to find.

So you are a round worlder, showing pictures of the earth from different angles would be evidence of a round world and you have bought it. Why are you here?

No, I am a Flat Earther.  I can observe for myself that the Earth is flat, I don't need images from a million miles up influencing my judgment.

Well, just to be straight, I do recognize that the view from very far above the Earth exhibit the appearance of curvature.  But not from most commercial airliners (which I assumed was what you were talking about).  If you thought you saw curvature, it is likely because you thought you should have seen curvature; it's not an optical illusion so much as it is your subconscious lying to you.  You probably heard you could see the curvature of the Earth from a plane, from someone who didn't know what they were talking about, or else otherwise thought you should since you're so high up, so your brain told you you could even though you couldn't.

Something your imagination is telling you you should see, maybe, since even REers recognize that the supposed curvature of the Earth isn't visible from an airplane.

I believe the other planets are probably flat.  We have photographic evidence that Mars is flat.

These photo's are clearly doctored because we've never been to space or we'd have pictures of our flat earth from space. Don't link doctored photo's as fact please.

Can you prove that?  Even the staunchest fundamentalist FEer is wise enough to know that they can't really claim the images are "clearly doctored" (beyond some occasional and openly acknowledged cosmetic clean-up) because they know that they aren't "clearly" doctored, since such doctoring has never been proven; rather, the argument is made that images in general *can* be doctored, therefore the evidence is unreliable.

But I think the notion of the Conspiracy is too unwieldy to realistically exist, so it's more prudent to take it as incorrect (at this point, saying NASA has never been to space is a lot like saying that Australia doesn't exist; there are too many people who can verify it for it to be fake).  That's why I thought a reformation of the old ideas was necessary, since one way or the other the Earth is clearly and verifiably flat.  Fortunately, the images that NASA provides from the surface of other planets actually shows that they are flat, suggesting that flatness is the norm for large bodies like planets and likely even the sun.

I did and after reading your reply went back to check and did not see any answers.

Try reading harder.  I have faith in you!  And try the wiki too.  There's bound to be something about Eratosthenes' crackpot observation in there somewhere.

Arrow is on Hulu.  Paid hulu, but hulu.
Though it might be on the cw's website too.

When I checked, Hulu only had the first three episodes, then it skipped to the Legends crossover, then the most recent episode (well, the tenth episode, there's been another since then).  And I do have paid Hulu.

I may check the CW's website, but I can't get that on my TV and I'd much rather watch it there than on my computer.

I am enjoying Supergirl
I thought you were a guy.

Fuck you.  I admit it's a bit chick-centric, but it's still doing the Superman mythos better than the movies.

Honestly they're doing it better with their TV properties.

I agree, but out of curiosity, which TV properties specifically you were thinking of?  Gotham, for example, is absolutely terrible and I will fight anyone who disagrees with me.

Well, specifically, I've been bingeing on Arrow on Netflix (I am up to ep 4 of the 4th season now; it's not available on Hulu so I will probably have to pay for the remaining episodes to get caught up  :() and I think it just might be the best show on TV right now, despite a (slight) dip in quality in Season 3.  Flash which I've been watching since it started is just pure goofy fun.  I am enjoying Supergirl and Gotham to a lesser degree... regarding your opinion of the latter, I don't think it's terrible, although I do absolutely hate the kid they have playing Bruce.  The guy playing Penguin, on the other hand, is brilliant.

Oh yeah, and Teen Titans Go...   ;D ;D ;D

Superman can be tormented, I have no problem with that; he did after all lose his entire race to a planetary disaster.  But that he manages to be optimistic and hopeful despite that background is part of what makes Superman Superman.
Superman was exactly this in the first movie. He was still optimistic and heroic despite losing his entire race and the humans fearing him.

Why are you and LD assuming he will be so emo in this next one?

Maybe it was the overall dark tone of the first one but I didn't get that impression from it at all. It was just too dark for a Superman movie. And judging from the previews this one looks even worse.

I can't stand dark and edgy Superman.  They have a bunch of morons making these decisions with WB.  "Everybody loves dark and edgy Batman.  I bet dark and edgy Superman will be a hit too!"  The problem is that it's built into Batman's character that he's dark and edgy.  Being tormented and full of angst is perfectly in line with the way he's been characterized in the comics at all times except the hated 60s/early 70s incarnation that was influenced by the campy TV show.  Superman can be tormented, I have no problem with that; he did after all lose his entire race to a planetary disaster.  But that he manages to be optimistic and hopeful despite that background is part of what makes Superman Superman.  Superman should not be emo.

Did we learn nothing from Guardians of the Galaxy, arguably the best comic book movie of the new millenium that doesn't star Christian Bale, and tonally light years away from the Dark Knight trilogy?  Dark and brooding is fine as long as it fits the character.  It does not fit Superman.

Honestly they're doing it better with their TV properties.

I am new to the world of the flat earth society, anyone want to show me the evidence for the flat earth.  Personally i think this argument in nonsense, with you simply disregarding all evidence which goes against your point of view, such as NASA's.  Please give me proper hard evidence with facts and proof, not some unrealistic theory which can be proved wrong so easily .

Welcome to FES.  Did you perhaps mean to name yourself "Convert.Me"?  If so, that's really not what I'm here for.  If you truly examine the evidence and recognize the truth as most of us have, then that's cool.  But odds are you are someone who's been fed the old line that the Earth is round for your entire life, and unless you are extremely intelligent like most of us, that kind of brainwashing is very difficult to cleanse.  I may not be speaking for the rest of the Society, but vain efforts to convince you that you are wrong is not my thing, because I know from hard experience that it's probably a lost cause.

But if you have any questions, I'm happy to help.  :)

There is strength in having historical FET continuity to those important to its beginnings.

I think we actually have that with this site.  Daniel lost interest in his old pet project, the old site was withering away, and from its ashes, this site emerged as many of the old site's strongest FET proponents (particularly Tom Bishop, who has served as something of a spokesman for our cause) moved here.  Thus the continuity is preserved.  We don't need to be tied to a dying site and an apathetic leader to have that continuity.

Personally I like that there are so many Flat Earth groups out there, I think someone else brought it up but it bears repeating; even the nutters like Dubay are bringing wider recognition to the Flat Earth movement as a whole, and on the whole, I think that's a good thing.

Also, drama is interesting.  If some FEers want to claim other FEers are deliberate shills from the government (for example), it adds a soap opera element that might make some people more likely to follow what's going on.  For a while, the movement felt stagnant.  Now it feels vibrant and alive.

Now find a flight going the "long way" around the earth so we can tell how big the earth is and whether it matches up to your ball model.

Yep, it does.

Oh that settles it.  "Go find a flight going the long way and see if it matches your model!"  You: "It does!"

Nice.  How can we possibly refute such strong evidence?  ::)
