My official prediction is that both the Bruins and the Patriots go all the way this year
And I'm not just saying that, both are serious contenders.
Buckeyes are going to get stomped.
I hope that they win, I really do. I'm a Big 10 fan. Florida St is just a seemingly unstoppable beast at the moment.
I dunno, the Buckeyes don't have a whole lot going for them. Their QB is unproven, their wide receivers are average at best, and they really have no concept of a decent running game. Meanwhile, MSU more or less has all their bases covered (with the exception of several of their defensive backs).
The BCS is heavily SEC biased. I doubt they would repeat the mistake of leapfrogging an undefeated team with a one lose team.
But Junker, both are top teams in their respective leauges and have proven themselves in beating teams with good records. I'd be surprised it either team did not make it to the finals/super bowl.
Ugh you're boring, don't give up so easily.
Which year did they have they "greatest" team ever assembled?18-1
They, with the the help of the greatness that is Tom Brady are doing what no-one expected them to this year. They're not a star studded team but are doing fantastic. They play in a shit division and a weak conference overall. If the AFC didn't have to make the Superbowl, they wouldn't this year. They had stars last year, but your best slot receiver was traded to Denver and one of your TEs just had commit murder. They were exposed by the Bengals. They will fail, as usual.
As for the Bruins, yes they dropped the ball (puck?) but will be back with a vengeance this post season. And i thought it was $100?Oh hell, I forgot how much money it was.
Waht. They beat the Saints, if not for awful officiating should've beat the Panthers, beat the bucs, beat the Falcons.
My point is of the top NFC teams we lost to one. And I know it can't be changed but in a perfect world we likely would've beat the Panthers had they made the right call. On top of how they're playing thus far, statistically speaking right now is Tom Brady's time to shine (as demonstrated in that Broncos game)
"Tom Brady has 46 games under his belt in cold weather with a 40-6 record. He's 29-5 at home and 11-1 on the road. He has a 10-2 postseason record inside those 46 games. " cbssports (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/pat-kirwan/24297674/cold-weather-is-here-qbs-like-tom-brady-handle-it-better-than-most)
"Since 2001, the Patriots are an NFL-best 43-6 in December" Boston Globe (http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2012/12/05/patriots-are-champions-december/I8wvBzGrwbdYileT472OAP/story.html)
The Patriots are literally the only good team ever in history to have a bad game. Solid argument.
>:(
Braxton has a good arm and can run. His only problem is reading the secondary on occasion. Carlos Hyde has almost 1300 yds in only 9 games (he was suspended the first 3) so I'd say their running game is just fine. Receivers aren't great and defensive can be a worry depending on which version shows up.
His arm's decent, I'll give you that, but I would wager that his problem reading the secondary is much more prevalent than "on occasion". Hyde is pretty great, yeah, but he messes up too much so he's not entirely reliable. Receivers are horrid and your defense is like a particularly decomposed paper bag. Don't even get me started on that one guy, number 24
I'm sorry. :[ I actually have no idea what I'm talking about and don't watch sports and am just saying random words so for what it's worth you could be right
Everything I learned from sports I learned frommenjunker.
The Patriots will beat the Seahawks in a snowy Superbowl, for those curious. Tom Brady will finally get his fourth ring and be the undisputed GOAT.
More like Official American Sports Thread amiriteThe World Cup group announcement is coming fairly soon, right? Feel free to discuss it when it happens. Otherwise, there's no real great international sports events going on right now. And the only worthwhile sports America doesn't dominate at are soccer and rugby, and I don't follow either of those.
Sorry brah. The only team that can beat Brady this year is the Lions(dat interior pass rush), but they're going to lose at the Clink because the Seahawks home field advantage is cheating. The Patriots will beat the Seahawks in a snowy Superbowl, for those curious. Junker I'll take that, but since you said not to pay you and save my money last time, if you win I'll pay 100. Serious bets serious this time
Well obviously. It's not a fair bet. However, I think that if the Patriots can get past the Denver Mannings, they can easily win the whole thing. Brady and Bellicheck are good enough to give any team a good game, and Brady had shown this year he can still turn it on in the second half and rip defense apart.Junker I'll take that, but since you said not to pay you and save my money last time, if you win I'll pay 100. Sounds good. If Franklin wants in on the action, I am cutting it to $25 per bet. Franklin is a pussy, though, so he won't.
pussy
So Franklin claims the Patriots will win the Superbowl, however he isn't confident enough that they will even make it to bet $25.Yes, because you didn't offer a fair bet and I'm not a moron.
Yes, because you didn't offer a fair bet. Then admit you are wrong >o<
I'm not a moron.Debatable :P
Out of curiosity, his bet seemed to be based off exactly what you said, what is unfair about it?The expected value of the gamble was below 0. EV(g)<0

Go Seahawks. We better win it this season while all of our beasts are still on rookie contracts.Hopefully they keep home field, otherwise, they'll choke on the road.
Like in the Superbowl. Where it will be snowing. And Tom Brady will get that fourth ring. And be the GOAT. Fuck Joe Montana.Go Seahawks. We better win it this season while all of our beasts are still on rookie contracts.Hopefully they keep home field, otherwise, they'll choke on the road.

Betting against me always has that value. Ask Sean.
Like in the Superbowl. Where it will be snowing. And Tom Brady will get that fourth ring. And be the GOAT. Fuck Joe Montana.Do you have any evidence that it will snow? Also, Joe is 4-0 in Superbowls. Something Tom will never, ever be able to claim. He also won't win a 4th so it doesn't matter.
So you don't offer fair bets? Got it.That is fairly accurate. It isn't fair that I always win.

That is fairly accurate. It isn't fair that I always win.So, to clarify, you throw out shitty bets and hope morons (No offense Sean) take them.
Making it to six Superbowls and winning 4 would be more impressive than making it to four Superbowls and winning four.False.
So, to clarify, you throw out shitty bets and hope morons (No offense Sean) take them.I rarely bet against other people. I usually give favorable terms to entice a bet because I am better at betting than most.
Montana was Super Bowl MVP 3 times. He was super fucking clutch. The 5, possibly 6 Super Bowl appearances is pretty spectacular. Tom has won with less than Joe too. I think if Tom wins a 4th ring I would put him every so slightly ahead of Joe.
Fuck you Franklin the patriots are a lock for AFC

He had a superstar team that went 18-0, broke records, and choked when it mattered the most. I like Tom, but that is inexcusable.
but if it were not for one ridiculously lucky play by Eli and an equally stupid catch, the Pats win that game.
junker doesn't believe in variance.
Auburn and Missouri need to settle down.
OSU looks like they have started to turn the tables. Gonna be a good finish.
I took my rage out on my coffee table, no one died. Except the coffee table.
Gronk is down and it looks bad :(
The patriots are about to lose to fucking Cleveland
Wow, Brady amazes me.That was a championship win.
Not pretty, but a much needed win. No I just have to hope for a couple of letdowns from Seattle so SF can take the west :D
Not pretty, but a much needed win. No I just have to hope for a couple of letdowns from Seattle so SF can take the west :D
They have to win one of three against the giants, cardinals and rams. If they lose their division I will kill your coffee table.
...but how important is he?Immensely important. Their red zone threat is done. Unless they are hitting the deep ball, prepare for a lot of field goals.
Have the Patriots already proven they can win without him?No.
No.
Obviously he is important, perhaps that wasn't the right word. Is he absolutely essential to the Pats? No.
They won 5 of 6 (I think he missed 6?) without him.
Who is going to beat them in the AFC, and make me lose my bet?
Unlikely Denver, possibly Baltimore but I give the Patriots the edge in that scenerio as well. Brady and Belichick are winners. Brady wins. (o but he lost one game on time o no) he will find a way.
One of those with arguably the best offense ever.
I would argue the quarterback is the most influential player on the field, almost always.Well, yeah, the QB is the most important player on the team. Excluding the coach, GM, and owner, he may be the most important person in the entire organization.
A bad QB = a bad team, and a bad (minus QB) team and a great QB can = an okay teamEh, here is where you start to make the leap from "most important" to "only thing of importance". The 2000 Ravens won a Superbowl with Trent Dilfer at QB. Meanwhile, guys like Philip Rivers and Dan Marino, both very very good QB's, have never won a Superbowl.
The QB gets too much credit in a win and too much blame in a loss. Not saying I agree that is okay, but that is reality, especially with the transition to a pass-heavy league.Yes, and it's silly. That's why I rarely watch ESPN or read the majority of websites about football. People prefer superficial analysis to actual analysis.
Patriots are now in the running for the number one seed in the AFC, I think they clinch it if they beat Miami (lol miami) Baltimore, and then the Bills at Gillette. (lol bills) It is looking good for them.
Very unlikely. You are a hater. Please do not let your hate of the Patriots cloud your judgement.
They are -1 on the road, so they would be -4 at home. Dolphins are -105 on the money line so the sharps have no confidence in the Pats in this game. This is jibberish.

Junker i don't know what that means, but i got $20 on it
it's not that far fetched that we win a game without him...
Says he was limited Wednesday. Should be fine. Also, it's not that far fetched that we win a game without him, anyway. We have a good backup....No, and no.
No. Ryan Mallett is good.I doubt it. He has no body of pro work besides a few preseason games, and no one has been willing to trade anything significant for him. Why do you think he's good besides blind Boston homerism?
No. Ryan Mallett is good.
The Patriots are winning.
No hate at all, just reality. They are -1 on the road, so they would be -4 at home. Dolphins are -105 on the money line so the sharps have no confidence in the Pats in this game.
Rubbish. 2 passes in the endzone right through receivers hands. Gg junker
Holy fuck. Cowboys. Mwahahaha!
Is Roundy in this thread?
SKOL VIKINGS! EAT SHIT EAGLES!
Holy fuck. Cowboys. Mwahahaha!
Calling it now.lolno
Ravens Superbowl Champs
Nah. Gonna be the Seahawks.A higher probability, but also no.
Patriots will pull it off. I'm probably just blinded by my patriots loyalty, but still, their odds probably are not superbad. (feel free to correct me, junker.)
The Seahawks are hardly a lock for the Superbowl, even with home field advantage. I'd expect the Panthers do beat them, to be honest.

In Seattle? How could you expect that? Seattle has not lost at home in almost 2 seasons. It's one of the toughest stadiums to play in and Seattle is on a roll right now.

Everything says they should be a lock for the SB. Which is why they are not.

The one game they lost was an extremely close game to the second or third best team in the NFC at home. Otherwise they have been demolishing people. They are relatively healthy, they have chemistry and confidence. I dont think there is a better team in the NFL right now.QuoteEverything says they should be a lock for the SB. Which is why they are not.
Maybe, but the NFL has shown that hot teams are the ones that go far in the playoffs and there is no one hotter in the NFC.
The Panthers match-up really well with the Seahawks. The Seahawks struggled beating the Panthers early in the season, and since then the Panthers have started played better football and replaced Ron Rivera with Riverboat Ron, the risk-taking analytical gambler of a coach. The Panthers Defensive Front Seven will shut down Lynch and get pressure on Wilson. The offense can run the ball, which keeps it away from the Seahawks secondary. And Steve Smith is the only WR that can out shit-talk Richard Sherman, and that's gotta count for something. The Seahawks are hardly a lock for the Superbowl, even with home field advantage. Woe betide those who think they can shut down Marshawn Lynch. The guy can move a pile like no one else.
Don't the Niners run a 3-4? Regardless, as much I love Lynch, the elite front sevens in the league (49'ers, Panthers, Chiefs) can still shut him if they are willing to sell out to the pass a bit more. Lynch isn't AP, he can't handle 8 man boxes.Woe betide those who think they can shut down Marshawn Lynch. The guy can move a pile like no one else.
Just not against a healthy SF font four.
I know I'm a homer, but goddamnOh? It is barely noticeable...

I'll take SF in the playoffs.
Seattle is clearly the best team in the league. Their defense might be the best that's ever been on an NFL field. Richard Sherman plays man coverage with his hands. Literally, he turns right to the QB at the snap and feels the receiver's cuts with his hands behind him. I've never seen anything like it.
I know I'm a homer, but goddamn, I don't see what this team is lacking.

Best defense evah? No way. I would take the 2000 Ravens, the '85 Bears, the 70s Steelers, maybe even the '95 49ers.
The Patriots still have the best quarterback of the last 20 years. And the most handsome quarterback of all time.
Your argument against him lies on a single game
I also don't get the whole 'Brady lost one game that was important and so he isn't that good' argument.
No, he is not good. He is the very best.
Eh sorry. I am bored. I just want someone to disagree with me. I will scurry away now until I have something to talk about.

Who said he wasn't good? He is fantastic.

Oh. I took you to be saying that he sucks or something.
Is this good enough for top 5? Many of these leading QBs had better teams throughout their careers as well as playing more games.
yes
Their defense might be the best that's ever been on an NFL field....
Also, Brady is one of seven second stringers to come in and win a superbowl, however one of first to do so in his first season ever starting a game.

Yes, he had a great team while they won with average QB play. Much like the Ravens the year before.

srsly? He hada greata decent season for someone who was essentially a rookie.
The league average Adjusted Net Yards per Attempt this season is 5.97, which would also be an N.F.L. record. (The previous high was 5.93, set last season.) The Seahawks have allowed just 3.40 ANY/A, easily the best in the league (San Francisco and Carolina are second and third at 4.62 and 4.73). But since the ANY/A league average has been rising for years, we cannot just compare Seattle to teams of yesteryear. We also need to measure how far from the league average each pass defense has performed.
The simplest way to measure deviation from the average is to measure the standard deviation among all pass defenses in the N.F.L. In 2013, the standard deviation of the ANY/A ratings of the 32 teams is 0.93. As a result, Seattle’s pass defense is 2.76 standard deviations above the 2013 mean of 5.97. If the Seahawks can maintain that level of dominance, it will rank as the fourth best season since 1970.
By this method, the top pass defense was fielded by Tampa Bay in 2002, the year the Buccaneers won the Super Bowl. In 2002, Tampa Bay allowed 2.34 Adjusted Net Yards per Attempt; that season, the league average was 5.35 and the standard deviation was again 0.93. As a result, the Tampa Bay pass defense was 3.22 standard deviations better than average. In the postseason, the Buccaneers allowed just three touchdowns while scoring four touchdowns on interception returns.
I'll back off my 'maybe the greatest defense ever' comment and settle in at 'top 5 pass defense ever.'Huh, that is pretty damn convincing. But if this Seahawks D is going to be remembered as one of the best ever (and it is obviously quite good) it's going to have to dominate the playoffs and win the Superbowl. It may not be fair, but that's one of the keys to leaving a legacy on defense (76 Steelers, 85 Bears, 00 Ravens, 02 Bucs)

With Romo out I give Dallas a shot at beating Philly.
With Romo out I give Dallas a shot at beating Philly.
Ha! That's kind what I thought... without Romo in there who can we count on to choke when it really matters? But really their defense should do that job for us. It is awful. They won't be able to keep up.
Patriots will take the #1 seed.
Denver will lose... Probably not, but its more likely than New England losing.
Don't be surprised if the Eagles slip into the Superbowl.
Don't be surprised if the Eagles slip into the Superbowl.
You need to make it to the playoffs first ;)
and the Panthers are winning the Superbowl...
Patriots vs. Broncos will be the AFC championship game, Frank.
No, the fact that the Eagles defense is complete shit is what unveiled them. The Vikings run outdated schemes, and had no business winning that game. Seriously, I'm still not sure what the fuck happened. I just don't see the Eagles D having the talent to stop any team with decent receivers (49'ers with Crabtree back, Seahawks with Harvin back, Broncos with Welker back, etc)
However, the Bears have an incredible WR duo and the Eagles shit on them. I didn't watch the game, so hey, maybe I'm totally wrong.
Except for the Minnesota game the Eagles haven't let anyone score more than 21 points on them in ages. They also haven't faced any playoff caliber offenses in ages, outside of the Bears. I'd also argue that, based on talent, the Eagles defense has been overachieving lately. Shit, I think they've overachieved (relative to their talent) all year, and that's probably due in no small part to Kelly.

We just beat Arizona too. True, they may not make the playoffs, but if they miss it will be by only a hair. And a lot of those really heavy-hitting offenses out there don't have the best defenses.

San Francisco would violate Philadelphia. Fact. Great running attack, real weapons in the passing game and a great all-around defense. A team that can run on Philly is going to have a big advantage since they can control time of possession better and not get their defense as tired out playing against that fast-paced Philly attack.
Eh, they're nothing special on offense, but their defense is sexy. I could be wrong on the Eagles, but I see a one and done. I'm rooting for them, however, because I really like Chip Kelly and watching his teams, so I'm rooting for them.Except for the Minnesota game the Eagles haven't let anyone score more than 21 points on them in ages. They also haven't faced any playoff caliber offenses in ages, outside of the Bears.

Michigan +7 against Kansas State tonight. Book it.
Hull City will draw against Manchester United.I was wrong.
AFC Seeds:Highlights of Week 17: A possibly intoxicated Franklin telling everyone how much he fucking hates the Packers and how pissed he was that they made the playoffs.
1. Denver Broncos
2. New England Patriots
3. Indianapolis Colts
4. Cincinnati Bengals
5. Kansas City Chiefs
6. San Diego Chargers
NFC Seeds:
1. Seattle Seahawks :(
2. Carolina Panthers
3. Philadelphia
4. Green Bay
5. San Francisco (FTW!)
6. New Orleans Saints
Both of the games were great yesterday. Colts had an amazing 28-point comeback, and now I just need to find Roundy and laugh at him.
But Chip Kelly FTW! I just need to hope the 49ers don't get Rodgered at Lambeau. I would commiserate with Junker but I think he is six feet under after OSU shat the bed on Saturday.

I am in fact alive, better than ever. SF pulled out the win in freezing temps. I anticipate a low-scoring, smash-mouth game at Carolina next week (which means it probably won't be) in which SF gets revenge.
As far as OSU goes, I am unaware of any game that took place recently. I spent the weekend with Secret User and have no recollection of any game being played by OSU.
With SF's receivers at full strength again, I think they can can cause some problems for Carolina as well. I am looking forward to the rematch.Agreed. SF is also the hottest team in the playoffs right now.
Would you like a recap of the OSU game?Won't be needed. I watched them lose to MSU which was the last game of the season. I will look forward to next season.

It's not like they haven't earned their praise. If this is an off-year for them they are doing alright.
I read that in the paper this morning, Colts are looking desperate :)
24.6 percent of Brady's passing attempts came via play action. On those passing plays, Brady accumulated a 99.8 passer rating.
I like Blount a lot. He reminds me of a smaller, faster Jerome Bettis. Go Pats. I want Luck to shave his neck beard.
Also Blount.
Jesus fucking Blount
I should've taken them by 12... :( also, everything I've predicted has been right
SF and SEA on a collision course for the Superbowl. To me, next week's game is the Superbowl. I don't think anyone in the AFC can play with either team.
"The Patriots are currently a 4.5-point underdog on the road after being quickly bet down from an open of -6.5 Sunday night." Not bad, also junker said to give an automatic 3 points to the home team. Or maybe he just meant the Patriots. But either way, considering where we're at, the Patriots have surpassed all expectations, a win here would be icing on the cake.
Why is this thread this long?
With our newfound run game and still having brady's ability to get down field at the end of the game, i do believe the patriots will win, just my unbiased opinion.
Should be an amazing day of sport.
Junker? What are you saying about the NFC game?
Also junkers official AFC pick. Mine is 34-31 patriots
Dis is bad
Like all playoff games, both these games are toss-ups. That said, I'd guess the home team in both games.Heh, I was right for once.
Sherman is such a douchebag. I hope Manning lights him up. I don't mind the cockiness, but he is just plain disrespectful.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qfRuKM1CCA
A lot of what I said to Andrews was adrenaline talking, and some of that was Crabtree. I just don’t like him.
It was loud, it was in the moment, and it was just a small part of the person I am.
This is what happens when you take too many stimulants.Sherman is such a douchebag. I hope Manning lights him up. I don't mind the cockiness, but he is just plain disrespectful.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qfRuKM1CCA

This is a guy who represents one of the best kinds of sports stories there is in the world: the rise from the bottom, the profound destruction of obstacles, the honest success story built by a foundation of hard work and loving parents. If anyone with a brain took the time to learn about Richard Sherman, and then put him in the context of the rest of the National Football League, he'd be a pretty hard guy to bash.
As for racial bias, give me a break. Richard Sherman is a fucking asshole. People dislike him because he's an asshole. Don't even try and compare Philip Rivers and Richard Sherman. There are a lot of differences beyond race. Philip Rivers doesn't tell sports commentators that he's better at life than them, nor does he get into feuds saying he's better than the best player at his position (Revis).
To start, let's go to our favorite individual metric for coverage, Pro Football Focus's yards per snap in coverage. This stat measures how many yards a defensive back's assigned man gets for every snap he's in coverage. So if a cornerback drops into coverage 50 times in a game and gives up 100 total yards, the number will be 2; if he drops back those same 50 times and gives up 25 yards, it's 0.5. Sherman's number is 0.77 yards per coverage snap—second in the league behind Darrelle Revis's 0.72. This is a preposterous number on its own, but Sherman's targets per snap in coverage—the Deion metric, basically—is 9.5, the best figure in the last two years. There's a huge drop down to Revis at 8.8, and another huge drop to 7.7 for third place Patrick Peterson and Keenen Lewis.
Sherman also leads the league in interceptions, QB Rating against, and coverage snaps per reception, and has one of the lowest ratios of YAC to total yards allowed of all cornerbacks.
Broncos will be an early 3 point favorite. That will change over the next two weeks.

Sports is boring.
Aaron Hernandez is going to jail for a long, long time. Aldon Smith probably won't see jail time (in my non-lawyer opinion).Aldon Smith was arrested at LAX claiming he was carrying a bomb. SF has got to cut this guy.On the other hand, he's really fucking good.
So is Aaron Hernandez, but at what point is it not worth it? For me that line is making bomb claims at LAX. I can no longer trust him to exercise good judgement, which is an important trait in my mind.

Not sorry to see him go. He is a pretty terrible person, and this certainly is not the first time.
Having said that, I am a little concerned about the fact it was a private conversation being recorded. I would imagine his mistress violated the law unless she disclaimed prior to the conversation that she was recording it. Everyone says things in private that they wouldn't in public. Imagine if you were judged on some of the things you have said to your friends in a private setting.

Also Cleverly. If he is crap playing for Man Utd, who imagines he'll be good playing for a team with general dross around him?
This is where the Patriots do not lose another regular season game
Home field advantage will be huge, especially for the patriots. Their odds drastically increase. But yes, obviously they must win in playoffs.
Fun Fact: no team has a winning record against the Brady patriots.I'm fairly sure the Giants do if you include the postseason.

Patriots are on to playing Baltimore at Gillette. I can't see them losing, really. I want to see the Cowboys, because why not it could happen
Darelle Revis will be the difference maker, he will shut down half the field, like he does.

The Ravens are winning by a landslide.

Over a year later, time for redemption for my Buckeyes. Although they redeemed themselves last month when they crushed Wisconsin in the Big 10 Championship 59-0. Now that they beat Alabama, I don't see Oregon having a chance. Oregon is a 6-7 point favorite, but I see the Buckeyes winning by 14+... Of course, I will take a 1 point win.
The coffee table this year is unbreakable by human feet, so all I can do is hope for the best.

As much as I hope I am wrong, I think the Seahawks will win handily and go back to back for the first time in a decade. The Bills have the best D that Tom played all season.

#ballgate2015
Tom Brady has more postseason wins than 21 franchises
We all know Adam Vinatieri was the only reason the Patriots won those other 3 Superbowls.
Brady is constantly under pressure and has just 2.37 seconds (6th fastest time in the NFL) to get rid of the ball every time he drops back to pass before the pressure bears down, according to Pro Football Focus.
I wish we could stop talking about #DeflateGate because it's so dumb, but we cannot. And if we win, unless new information comes to light, the patriots will be discredited forever. If the Patriots could resist cheating, however minor it may be, we would not have to talk about it. It is a stupid controversy though. The Pats crushed the Colts despite two bad deep balls from Tom. You can bet if the Pats lose the Seahawks will rub in how they beat a bunch of cheaters. Please Pats win!

I'm glad we have a couple of known cheaters in the Super Bowl. I don't see how New England pulls this off though. That D comes up major in prime time under the spotlight, just like all of Slick Pete's teams.
I believe the Patriots win by double-digits. Blount will run for one, Brady will throw 2 TD passes, at least. Discuss or something

What a game that was. Junker owes me 20 dollars. Or like -80, something like that
Why the fuck is seattle passing the football on the 1 yard line, with the most powerful running back in the league?
Sherman is a cunt, and that dude who started a fight after losing, very classy. I am happy for Tom. though. However. throwing 2 terrible picks should be an MVP DQ
Everything that happened after the Packers game was a freeroll. I'm never going to turn down my nose at a Super Bowl appearance. Good season.
And Pete's call was fine. It absolutely was not the worst call in Super Bowl history.
Thank god the NFL is over so we can all focus on the real best sporting event: The NFL Draft

It may go down as the worst call in the history of the Super Bowl.
Now we can concentrate on the only story that matters: were footballs slightly deflated in a game whose outcome it did not affect.
Now we can concentrate on the only story that matters: were footballs slightly deflated in a game whose outcome it did not affect.
But what if it affected the Baltimore game? Who knows how many years and how many games this has been happening. In a blowout game, it may not matter, but in a field goal game it very well may matter.
What's so interesting about sports?
The ball was probably inflated normally indoors and simply dropped pressure outside due to the cold. Since it can (and does) happen, unless someone comes forward and says "hell yeah I deflated the ball and took pictures of me doing it while doing lines of coke" then there is reason to believe it is simply a case of no one there understanding fluid dynamics.
I do too. However, what's so interesting about sports again? What's so interesting about sports?
I wonder the same thing about Scandanavian death metal.
Well, now that Chip Kelly has murdered my team I'm shopping around for someone to root for who might actually get somewhere next season. Any suggestions?

Maybe. Philly needs to trade up to get a good shot at Mariotta don't they?
When the dust settles will it be worth it?
if the Patriots sign Revis, i believe they have no competition in the AFC.

patriots didn't sign Revis. Oh well.
i don't understand the Patriots. they never seem to want to hip all in after a winning season. they could've totally afforded Revis.

The Ashes!
Cardiff looked like a new dawn after getting thoroughly spanked 5-0 in Australia, but then we lose by 400 at Lords! bowled for 103 in 37 overs on a flat wicket? The Ausies were back.
But then Edgbaston, Finn, back from the dead to bowl 6-79, it looked like we could end it all in two days, but the Ausie tail dug in leaving us to chase 121, at 51-2 things looked shaky but up steps Root to stand with Bell who needed that 65 to silence those who said he was finished, 32 overs in all and England win by eight wickets.
So on to Trent Bridge (Thursday) with no James Anderson and it all to play for.

Well the Blue Jays are fucking awesome right now. The Yankees were totally smothered by our pitching on the weekend and we had some extremely timely hitting. Hopefully we can repeat these results next weekend when the Yankees come to Toronto!
Well, football season is upon us, Tom Brady is still incredible and Gronk is still Gronk. I am gonna go on the record right now, Patriots win the Superb Owl and brady gets a one for the thumb. Gronk is also going to lead me to victory in my first ever fancy football season. There is approximately 0% chance the patriots win the Superbowl.

And so they should, they probably spent more on their kit than Leicester spent on players and I love watching Aguero, but don't pick the biggest spending super club if you are a neutral, come struggle with us Junker, it's bad for the heart but so much more fun.

eh, the jays hit 0-12 w/RISP in that game. can't put much blame on that HR when the jays had twelve different chances to erase it and failed.
if anyone decided that game, it was our third base coach, mike jirschele. (http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/25/sports/baseball/after-a-prolonged-wait-a-royals-coach-makes-the-right-decision-in-an-instant.html)

Near zero? Kinda balmy in MinnesotaIt was supposed to be as of Friday.
I too am rooting for the Vikings.
The game last night was one of the most disgraceful games I think I've ever seen. Two players being knocked out cold (one on each side) with helmet to helmet shots, one looking intentional. Ben going down and Cincy fans cheering his injury and throwing shit while he is being carted off.
Fuck the Bungles.

They're both fine, playing up injuries. Though, I still expect Payton to choke in the likely event the patriots make it that far, and we play Denver. Though he could shit his pants early against the Steelers
I was joking, Rama.
Should be a good week of football, I look forward to it
We have been over this... Vegas has Pats favored by 5 at -110. So you'd have to bet $110 to win $100 (plus your original $110 wager back). I'll give you the same bet at +200. So, if you bet $100 and they cover at -5, you win $200 (plus your original $100 wager back). Ties push, so a win of exactly 5 means no one gets anything.

Junker remember when I said Gronk and Edelman are fine?
OT rules are dumb and unfair in football. The game shouldn't be decided by a coin flip. They should play the 15 minutes.
Seahawks are getting lit up, it seems. Can the cards take the panthers??
you're both wrong. This is the only reasonable solution.
the game should end in a tie and both teams get to combine rosters into a hybrid team that will advance to the next round.
Sean, I went big on Steelers to win.
Well fug. In still taking the patriots, by two scores, no less.
Did you watch the game? I saw bits and Denver's offense seemed kinda slow going. We could probably win easily scoring close to thirty

Gronk tends to gronk, and Edelman being back really seems to be a huge spark to our offense, and that's not me Edelman meming. Gronk looked as strong as ever against the chefs.
Kip Chelly will undoubtedly have us back at an NFC champ game in no time.

Well Junker you knew I would be here, your adopted team worth 240 plus million, taken apart by one who's total worth doesn't add up to the price City paid for Firmino, just incase you forgot here's the best of our 3 goals.Yeah, I got up early to watch, then turned that shit off. I am confident they will go on a big run soon, similar to how they started the season
I put 50 on Carolina with a coworker. Could have put 100 but I have bad luckThat was dumb.
Damn, I should stop betting on sportsYou should. I took Denver with the points Won a nominal amount of money.

Why is a defensive game terrible?
It was a terrible game. Just a reminder that offense literally is worthless. Stack that D, win those rings. Also defenses get away with a lot more shit in the postseason.

I mean given the fact that the Eagles are a shitty dysfunctional mess, can you blame him for wanting to leave?
Due to the old rookie wage scale, Sam has already made plenty of money. Sam probably wants to succeed and prove he's a top tier NFL QB, and considering he's now on his second clusterfuck of a franchise he's probably sick of the bullshit. If they aren't wiling to make him their guy, he wants to go to a team that will. He was likely told he would be the guy, but when a franchise trades that many resources for your replacement, clearly they don't have faith in him.I mean given the fact that the Eagles are a shitty dysfunctional mess, can you blame him for wanting to leave?
If I'm being paid a guaranteed 13 mil a year for being mediocre I deal with it and do my fucking job. Your point makes no sense anyway because his biggest problem is that he knows he won't be an Eagle for much longer.

Let's be honest, the Eagles weren't a QB away from greatness. Trading that many draft resources for a QB when you're fine at the position is asinine. I'd want off that sinking ship too.
May this final forever taint Lebron's legacy.

Honestly tho, Jordan never did anything that could remotely compare to this run...
Honestyly tho, Jordan never faced adversity like this, because he crushed his opponents... He never even faced an elimination game in the finals, much less lose 4.
You want to argue that this single postseason run was better than any of Jordan's you could probably make a case, and it would be close, but overall body of work, c'mon now... Jordan is impeccable.

I know the cool thing to do is to over romanticize the past, but you say this as if it is somehow an indictment of LeBron.
Jordan never faced adversity on the biggest stage because when there was actual adversity, his teams were bounced out of the playoffs before the finals. Jordan never beat his biggest foes. I will give him a pass on the early losses to the Celtics since it was early in his career, but he was eliminated three years in a row by the Pistons.
It wasn't until the Pistons hit a decline that he got the better of them, and then the Pistons were never heard from for over a decade.
You want to argue that this single postseason run was better than any of Jordan's you could probably make a case, and it would be close, but overall body of work, c'mon now... Jordan is impeccable.
You qualify this in a weird way, almost like it would take an effort to see why this championship was so significant. LeBron's team beat the best regular season team in NBA history.
First title to Cleveland in over 5 decades.
3rd team ever to force a game 7 after being down 3-1 in the finals, first team ever to win that game 7.
All of that was achieved by literally beating the team that won more games in one season than any other, besting Jordan's 95-96 Bulls. If you can point me to a more significant championship from Jordan, I would love to see it.
The fact is that as it stands, Jordan is still the best player we have ever seen (not including arguments about Magic, Russell, etc.). But, at age 31, Jordan and LeBron had the same number of titles. We don't know if he will be able to amass 3 more, or even one more for that matter. But it isn't unfathomable for LeBron to dethrone His Airness when all is said and done.
It was off the chain, yo. LeBron is officially and forever the GOAT.
Lebron has choked in the finals in a way few superstars ever have. Yes, it is in an indictment if we are talking about the GOAT.
but in '07 LBJ did not face an all-time great team like the Pistons. Are you being serious right now? The recent Spurs are objectively an all-time great team.
And I am not sure why you are so down on the teams Jordan beat in the finals: the Lakers were definitely well past their prime, so no surprise there, but the Trailblazers, Suns, Sonics and Jazz were all really good teams, with a lot of depth.I am not down on them, but there weren't any memorable groups in that bunch outside of the Stockton/Malone Jazz. Memorable players, yes, but certainly not any foes or rivalries.
In terms of the strength of opposition I see them as pretty even and in their championship prime, they both came out of weak conference's.Other than this year's Warriors team, I agree with both points.
Which is pretty much the same situation LBJ had with the Celtics. Call it even?Even.
The best team with the MVP having an MCL injury requiring surgery, and their key defensive player receiving a shitty and probably unwarranted suspension at a pivotal moment.Every team is banged up. No one was using the injury card when the MVP was dropping 25-30+ games during this series. The suspension was maybe shitty, but not unwarranted. What was unwarranted is that he hadn't been suspended prior.
Not saying this to disqualify the run, but it would not be like if Seattle beat the Bulls in '96, where the Bulls were firing on all cylinders.
It is certainly relevant. Legends are made by doing things no one else has ever done before.QuoteFirst title to Cleveland in over 5 decades.
Irrelevant. The championship is significant for Cleveland, but I don't see how it makes Lebron a better player.
This is probably what makes the run the most special. That it came on the back on a shitty suspension to the player that was making Lebron look mediocre thus far cannot be overlooked. Again, it does not disqualify the run, but it also does take some of the fairy tale out of it for me.Mediocre in what way? Scoring only, maybe, and that is only the first two games. LeBron dominated the rest of the time, regardless of Green's presence. That is why LeBron was the first player ever to lead either team in points, blocks, rebounds, assists, and steals in the finals. You make it sound like Green didn't play the other six games...
Jordan never faced the kind of adversity LBJ faced mostly because he demolished good teams. He still never beat his biggest foe, that has a lot of impact for me. Jordan's teams didn't start making runs until other hall of famers joined the roster, along with a hall of fame coach. What happened to the Bulls when Jordan left the first time? They went from 57-25 with MJ to 55-27 without, with Pippen finishing second in the MVP vote. They were one call/play away from getting back to the conference finals that year. What happened when LeBron left the first time? Cleveland was relegated to the draft lottery.
he was so dominant and such a thorough and excellent closer, that it was never really a series like this one was. Basically when it came time to take care of business, Jordan took care of business. He may have had off-nights shooting wise, but he never looked mediocre out there, even at the age of 36.I agree with most of this.
What Jordan did do is 3-peat as champion, which no team since the Celtics of the 50s and 60s had done, not the Showtime Lakers, not the Bird Celtics, and he did it twice. This left many left to speculate, if he didn't retire, could he have won 8 straight? And many think that that would have been a definite possibility. This idea is unfathomable for Lebron who has been too inconsistent in his finals closing and who appears at times uncomfortable asserting his game. Look at the 2011 finals, games 1-3 of this final or when Lebron was saved from the choking tag in his win against the Spurs by Ray Allen and Chris Bosh.LeBron carried teams, singlehandedly sometimes. Jordan put his teams over the top and was deadly, but they didn't disappear when he was gone like the Cavs did when LeBron left. I agree that the double three-peat is still the most dominating stretch of sport in the modern era.
Jordan has the highest playoff scoring average and the highest efficiency rating of any player in NBA/ABA history. In the '93 finals, for example, Jordan scored 40+ over 4 games, including 55 in game 4. This series win, where he was just on another level from even fellow HOFers, clinched the first 3-peat and was Jordan at the absolute unchallenged height of his power.Yes, he was unstoppable in his era.
Beyond that one finals, Jordan had all sorts of classic games along the way (check out this (http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/nbarankpelton-1-5/best-nba-finals-games-nos-1-5) for some highlights), with the Flu Game, Game 6 of the '98 finals, and his 3-point onslaught against the Trailblazers coming to mind right away. It is performance at an extraordinarily high level for a long period of time that distinguishes Jordan, not one run, or put another way, his run of note was over an 8 year period.I watched every finals game of the second 3-peat stretch, although I wasn't old enough at the time to really appreciate it. It was great, just like LeBron leading all categories for the first time ever in a finals series is great.
It isn't unfathomable but you said:I would have assumed by the G'd-up language, anyone could tell it was hyperbole :-/It was off the chain, yo. LeBron is officially and forever the GOAT.
Lebron is going to have a tough time taking Jordan off his throne though because of all the losses and because he will likely fade at an earlier age than Jordan because he started playing 4 years earlier and will likely not take 1 1/2 years off in the next two seasons. It is not impossible, and Lebron is the kind of physical freak that may have stamina and longevity that will surprise me. I hope one day that I begrudgingly have to dethrone Jordan because of LBJs continuing exploits, as I may be forced to do in Tennis with Novak Djokovic (total aside I am totally convinced Novak is on PEDs, but have no way to prove it). I hope I do have to, because that would be monumental and extraordinary and the kind of thing that makes me a sportsfan. The losses make it more interesting for me. Overcoming insane odds that everyone said was impossible, and had been up to that point. Honestly, at this point, I hope he just team hops for a few years and tries to collect rings. Nothing he will do in Cleveland will ever compare to this. It would be great if you could string together a 3-peat, but I think we all know that is highly unlikely. God still hates Cleveland. And yes, Novak is an abuser, though I think many modern day tennis players are.
It will be interesting to see where the NBA goes from here, considering many, including myself were dethroning Lebron before the playoffs even started. In taking out Lebron, he can safely assert his King title again and wait for Draymond, Curry and Klay to come knocking again. I wonder if Lebron will be in a Cleveland uniform when it happens or if Lebron might be elsewhere, perhaps with Chris Paul this time.
Lebron has choked in the finals in a way few superstars ever have. Yes, it is in an indictment if we are talking about the GOAT.
He definitely had some blunders which he was not equipped to handle at the time and at that age. Likely attributed to the insane expectations (anointed at age 16...) and age of social media where the critics piled on nonstop. I do wonder how Jordan would have responded to such criticism in the modern age, but that is neither here nor there.Quotebut in '07 LBJ did not face an all-time great team like the Pistons. Are you being serious right now? The recent Spurs are objectively an all-time great team.
QuoteAnd I am not sure why you are so down on the teams Jordan beat in the finals: the Lakers were definitely well past their prime, so no surprise there, but the Trailblazers, Suns, Sonics and Jazz were all really good teams, with a lot of depth.I am not down on them, but there weren't any memorable groups in that bunch outside of the Stockton/Malone Jazz. Memorable players, yes, but certainly not any foes or rivalries.
QuoteIn terms of the strength of opposition I see them as pretty even and in their championship prime, they both came out of weak conference's.Other than this year's Warriors team, I agree with both points.QuoteWhich is pretty much the same situation LBJ had with the Celtics.
Legends are made by doing things no one else has ever done before.
QuoteFirst title to Cleveland in over 5 decades.

I hope LeBron teams up with some veterans and just tries to go on a run before he declines too much. I imagine he has a season or two left at or around this current level before father time shows why he is undefeated. I'd like to see a LeBron, KD, and CP3 team out west take on GSW, or something along those lines.
Basketball stuff.
Basketball stuff.
I think we can agree that LeBron has an edge on Jordan solely due to his superior trolling and meme skills. The Ultimate Warrior shirt coming off the plane in Cleveland was top kek.

Hope they're not dumb enough to give up anything for Westbrook
Im confused about this: Im all for westbrook if he agrees to re-sign with the celtics after next year... But, can the celtics make that part of the deal in a trade, that he'd have to extend, or can the best they do is rely on a non-binding "promise" by westbrook?
Deflategate seems to finally have come to an end, thank god. Glad Brady will serve his suspension, excited to see garoppolo play. Should win at least 3, Brady will come back with a vengeance
We shall see.... really looking forward to it. The Brady coming back with a vengeance is true, at least. Give him another reason he has to prove himself, he will play like an absolute madman
Also, the Vikings are going to win the Superbowl. Prove me wrong.

junker, even if the patriots lose 4 games with Jimmy G (they wont) the patriots are unreal... Edelman, gronk, Bennette... Our defense is the best its been in years.... chill
I have two fantasy football drafts at the same time tonight. Second season playing, I lost by like two fucking points last season in the final... Fuckin amari cooper....
Yeah, mine in our league is really high risk high upside. No idea how it will turn out.
They might be the best team without Brady...
I hope so, I have their D in my expensive fantasy league.
I hope so, I have their D in my expensive fantasy league.
You draft D collectively? Or you just pulled a lot from their ranks?
Jimmy looks alright!Except not
Something interesting I noticed: Edelman seemed to just blow past brissett after his td run, add other teammates and coaches congratulated him. He's so sad without Brady
Well brisset needs surgery on his throwing hand. Jimmy G better be ready next Sunday
The Dutch national football team absolutely dominated in last night's qualifying match for the World Cup against Belarus. Some highlights:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh0lwy1D7qQ
Good to see them back on top form after their draw with Sweden last month. They're going to need their wits about them to take on France on Monday.
Meanwhile, South Africa's first third-round qualifying match is starting in about 6 hours against Burkina Faso. Hopefully I can find somewhere to stream that match online.
Also Australia seem to be doing quite well in their qualifying matches but I don't really care.
Junker did you start Bennett?
If it is indeed an original by Parsifal, this is objectively the greatest thing you have ever posted.
Patriots look incredible. Brady threw a couple beautiful deep passes to Hogan, and we finally have2 legit tight ends, and Edelman in the slot, they're gonna be tough to defend
Vikings vs patriots. Would be absolutely epic in the superb owl
Vikings vs patriots. Would be absolutely epic in the superb owl
I always knew Sean was great at joaks
The Vikings are the best team in the NFL fuck you
Tbh I've not watched any Vikings games... Are they legit?
What's the good team in the nfc? I see no way the patriots lose the afc. The NFL is trash lol
Am I a homer saying the patriots are the only legit great team in the NFL?
Malcolm butler is one of the best coroners in the game!!
one of the best coroners
coroners
Still works since the pats murder every team they have face
Yeah that was so weird that a rookie Third string qb had a bad game
Also the patriots have not thrown an interception this season
Go cubs! !!
Well, the league is weak, bit the patriots are also really fucking good, I think. Not sure there's really a team in the afc that can test them though
A couple of interesting football matches coming up this weekend.
Stupid Fucking play call at the end of this game. Just let blount run it in. However, definitely PI against gronk
I love how the Vikings manage to fuck up at the end of every game. How do you throw a pick in a tie game... Smh. . Also reading my last post, no idea what I was sayingeverything sucks and fuck you
I think they can win without him but it's not gonna be easy
Gronk is dead.
Gronk is dead.
As dead as the Vikings playoff hopes :^)

They were more stillborn.
The Vikings... have talent...
go chiefs
Team on the left.
Very wrong.Team on the left.
Wrong.
You win. Deduct the $50 from what you owe me. Pats will asshammer everyone in the playoffs
The Pats offense is stacked with talent. I like their odds too.
Also Brady for MVP
The pats look too nice to lose.
Revised prediction: patriots are 13-3, their schedule looks pretty easy.
I want to say 14-2 tbh
Revised prediction: patriots are 13-3, their schedule looks pretty easy.
I want to say 14-2 tbh
New prediction: The patriots beat the Texans 37-16 but thats cause they'll take their foot off the gas at the end of the game
Should I be worried yet
Even though the plays have been base don't like all these deep passes even into double coverage
The only good thing that I saw in this game was Dion Lewis.
Bruh neither Pittsburgh or KC will be able to put up enough points to beat the pats
My point stands
Ok just watched the highlights. Rodgers is a savage. ... But is he a Brady?
But Brady is a better game manager. I give Brady the edge over Rodgers
Fair enough, I suppose. But that doesn't make it any less so
Debatable. The Patriots have changed their offensive system a lot more than the Packers. But Brady is a better game manager. I give Brady the edge over Rodgers
Brady also has more experience and depth in his system no?
Sydney is now ahead 1-0.
Okay Brady is pretty good
Score prediction for super bowl 34-24 patriots!!!
My goodness. The two best teams are very apparent. However, this has been the worst NFL playoffs that I've ever seen. For real. Absolute garbage games.
Score prediction for super bowl 34-24 patriots!!!
rong thread retart
edit - fixed because saddam complained - sean is still a retart

Do what now
The more I think about it the more I think the patriots are going to win easily. They have a fantastic red zone defense, and a good red zone offense, they're disciplined. If they can score first and control game I think it could be over in the first quarter.
Prove me wrong
Steroids are a helluva drug.
Who you accusing of what, son?I'm just saying there's a reason we're seeing athletes play at this level into their 30's for the first time in history.
There's no real new info, just a Bleacher Report reporter rehashing old info. But yeah, pretty fucked.Steroids are a helluva drug.

Right. Well there are a few tennis players who I would strongly suspect of PED use like Djokovic and some who I wouldn't be surprised, but don't suspect, like Serena Williams or Nadal, and some who I would be shocked if they were on steroids, like Federer.
There are other areas of sports medicine that have also come a long way in the past 20 years, like training and nutrition, and prize money and endorsements have made it much easier for the very top players to do everything possible to ensure they can take advantage of this.
Yeah, Roger is juicing.

At least we got Bradford. He's pretty cool.
Could be the improvement in sports medicine over the years.Woah, I have no problems with PED's, or drugs at all. I loved watching an HGH powered Adrian Peterson in 2012. It's just pretty clear why we see top-tier athletes maintaining their dominance for so long.
Not to mention, what is the bid deal over PED's anyway,,,
Some of you could not walk across the street without a cup of joe...

... substances which their opponents do not use.
Phelps, who has won more Olympic medals than any other athlete, said he was stunned to learn that while he was drug-tested 13 times leading up to the Rio Olympics, 1,913 athletes in 10 "high-risk" sports were not tested at all leading up to the Games. And in total, 4,125 athletes actually had no record of testing in 2016 before Rio.
Hmmm. Think this is Brady's last year, at least wth the patriots . They loaded up in free agency, and not trading Jimmy G makes no sense if they plan on Brady being here more than a year or two?
Early prediction for Superbowl LII: Eagles 37, Patriots 17

Not that the Patriots will be there, but if they somehow did manage it would be more like 45-3.
Congrats to Chelsea on winning the league. Very dominant season.
yer mumCongrats to Chelsea on winning the league. Very dominant season.
I'm sure Chelsea is touched that you congratulated them here.
They can lose everything for at least the next ten years and it won't take away from their accomplishment last season though.
Their pitch is flat! So maybe.
Not like Leicester's this year, which seemed to slope towards our goal, no matter which way we were playing.
Lebron is bitched to reporters that he wasn't in the top 3 for MVP voting and that he wasn't a unanimous pick for the All-NBA first team. Poor guy.Eh, good for him. He is the best and most dominant player in the league. Kawahi comes in a Grand Canyon 2nd.
for sure I out Westbrook and Harden above him. Kawhi and Lebron you could go either way this year. Kawhi's defense is better than Lebron's and vice versa on offense. It's not outrageous to have Lebron as number 4 this year.lolok

He literally boxed his own team out on occasion to get rebounds. Not enough to make a dent in his awesome overall numbers, but it happened. Again, he wasn't the MVP on his own team until this year. Thinking that he is MVP of the league is just nonsense. I can maybe get behind Harden, and Kawhi is literally my favorite player. Not sure what else you expect when you un-ironically claim Westbrook is more valuable. He didn't fight his team for those rebounds, his big men boxed people out so he could get them. Other than that your SexWarrior impression needs some work. Westbrook lead the league in scoring, PER and averaged a triple double, with some admittedly padded rebound stats. He is obviously a top three MVP candidate and will probably win it. James Harden was the super productive heart and soul of a D'antoni offense-or-bust system and is another no-brained candidate. You can easily make a Lebron is top 3 candidate, I'm not saying otherwise, but you can easily make a Kawhi argument too. His defense is through the roof and he blossomed in to a dominant offensive player this season too. Its totally reasonable to have LBJ 4th, poor guy. I'm pretty sure the one person who didn't vote for him on the all-NBA team is just hating though.
Addendum: Let's not forget that the Cavs seriously struggled through the middle of the season too. If the Cavs dominated wire to wire we are having a different conversation.
Well the MVP award is for the current year, so that bodes well for Westbrook. If it were for multiple years, you would have a point. Lebron's impact on the league is irrelevant to the award by definition and he plays on the team with the highest payroll in history, so let's not pretend we are talking about Cavaliers circa 2007, James Harden did as much to get his team where they are. Lebron also had quite a few "DNP - rest" games. Hard to give the regular season MVP to a guy who basically acted like the regular season was irrelevant; a foregone conclusion.
Also, they lost tonight. SAD!
Changing topics inside the NBA theme (partly because I don't want to endlessly discuss Jordan, those debates can go on forever), I really hope Portland can add another piece and be even more competitive next season. They were really fun to watch and have a ton of potential. What they got from the talent outside of Lillard was nothing short of incredible, especially with most of the starters being gone.
I can't wait for the NBA playoffs to start.
Maybe Lebron and Carmelo will go to the Clippers.
but at the end of the day GS just has too many weapons.Hmm, I don't know. Even Steve Kerr acknowledged that they, "...had very little talent, actually. It was mostly coaching (https://streamable.com/3dquy)."
Iggy and Draymond had some sweet chemistry down lowNowhere near the chemistry between TT and David West (http://i.imgur.com/PwS3UBl.jpg) js.
I would like to see a quadrilogy next year, but only if Cleveland can sufficiently bloat their roster with an all-star point guard.Sign and trade lands the Cavs with Damian Lillard and Kawhi Leonard, losing only Kevin Love to the Spurs who still go on to win the title.
The Cavs then pay more in luxury tax than the 76ers have paid in salary over the past 5 years.
Y'all fucks with this McGregor vs mayweather fight or nawl

Brady was fantastic though.
Bill benching Malcolm butler lost the game imo. i really want to understand why he didn't play.
Bill benching Malcolm butler lost the game imo. i really want to understand why he didn't play.
Hey they let him in on some special teams plays. That should count for something.
The fact they dressed butler, and told him just before kickoff he wasn't starting is despicable to me, huge disrespect on the biggest stage, unless something comes out about what he did, this is the pettiest thing ever and bills ego lost @the game. Butler wasn't great this year, but I imagine he could've made ONE stop out of the 12 or 13 third/ fourth down plays eagles converted. They destroyed Eric Rowe. / rant
Of course I'm sure Belicheater thought Brady would beat this team blindfolded with one arm tied behind his back, like everyone else in the country not living in the Philly metro area. Lol. Go ahead, take the best team in the league for granted, it only makes things easier.
w0w a qb is mad after losing the Superbowl, and playing one of the best games of his career. I give the eagles all the credit, they had the gameplan to win and did it. You seem very angry for someone whose team just won lol
Well I interpreted your tone in your post as somehow angry, my b. That was a really freaking good game though imow0w a qb is mad after losing the Superbowl, and playing one of the best games of his career. I give the eagles all the credit, they had the gameplan to win and did it. You seem very angry for someone whose team just won lol
You can be mad and show a little class. Cam Newton was lambasted by the media a couple years ago for exactly the same thing. Brady himself obviously put on a stellar performance, I guess it's just a shame the rest of your team didn't show up.
I seriously have no idea what makes you think I'm angry. Bitter that Pederson was overlooked for what was clearly the best coaching job of the year, maybe, but believe me, I'm ecstatic. ;D
The Patriots are 1-3 in Superbowls against the NFC East under Belichick. True fact: they cheated in the one they won.
This really should go down as one of the greatest Superbowls of all time. Or at least one of the most exciting. Holy shit that was a good one.
Double edit nice trolling w0w

I think I enjoyed both the Falcons-Pats and Seahawks-Pats superbowls more.
BB has a mutiny on his hands! I think this the end of an era
"Hello. This isn't an emergency. This is Rob Gronkowski calling. And while I was gone, my whole house got robbed while on the Super Bowl trip and I just got back."
Ok so Josh McDaniels was introduced as head coach of the colts, now apparently he is staying with the pats? Wtf is happening in NE
Anyone else enjoying the Cavs meltdown as much as me?
Jimmy G for a second round pick nice job bill.
Though ownership forced his hand, it seems
I hope drunklin will survive the nightI did not.
LeBron James is objectively the best basketball player in the history of the universe.
Also, do you think Lebron punches JR really hard in the arm after last night?
TIL:Garyeveryone on earth except j.r. smith knew more aboutbasketballthe score of the basketball game thanLBJj.r. smith.

I -almost- felt bad for Lebron this time around. Any guesses on where he plays next year?
It will be exciting to see who loses to the Warriors next year

Celtics lol
But really, probably the Celtics
incorrect
There is no way Lebron takes a harder path to the final without some serious help.
Hell ya now the Raptors are in the finals every year
Abolish GSW

Serena Williams went full libtard in the US Open final to draw attention away from how she was getting dominated. Pretty gruesome.

I love how she said she was treated unfairly because she's a black woman. When her opponent was also a black woman.
She's really strong, fit and talented to be fair, just not very bright. Would have been better to lose with dignity.

Just to be completely fair, she never played the race card. Much of the jibbering masses did though.QuoteShe's really strong, fit and talented to be fair, just not very bright. Would have been better to lose with dignity.
Ehhh, I don’t agree with that either. I think she is bright, but I think like many top level competitors she has a psycho side that she lets loose every so often. Hers seems to be particularly unrestrained since she could not let go of the sting of her first code violation a full set later.
I thinks it shit that only the people in the tennis community that are supporting Serena are getting airtime.
Serena’s denial of coaching continued to an Australian interview where she said that her coach did not admit to coaching even though he absolutely did right after the match.

If he can do it for another 15 years maybe he will be as good as TB12.

Pat is cementing himself as the most clutch QB.

TB12 is unquestionably my most hated professional athlete of all time.
But he is also the GOAT. No argument there.
Hating Tom Brady over someone like Greg Hardy, Ty Cobb or Aaron Hernandez is pretty legit dumb.
Go bucs
#Hennethingispossible
I dont know how Andy Reid isnt jacked, carrying the weight of the balls he has around on a daily basis. That's how you coach to win.
I hate Tom Brady.
chefs
don't care about losing an excellent bowl. do care that it was to brady. fuck tom brady in his stupid idiot face. fucking asshole.
For me there are three groups of this 12 — the English Six, who went out first, then the other three [Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Inter] after them and then the ones who feel that Earth is flat and they think the Super League still exists.
Still not as good as the Bills performance.
The Bills stomping on the Pats at home was pretty special for them. I can only imagine how many folding tables were lost on Sunday. Do you think smashing through one is more or less painful when it’s that cold out?
Now I just want Kyler to put up a similarly massive game tonight, cause why not?
Holy shit that game was unreal.
Holy shit that game was unreal. Allen vs. Mahomes was amazing.
NFL overtime rules are shit though. That was a foregone conclusion at the coin toss
i am very mad
imagine losing the afc championship at home to the fucking bengals.

nhl people: somebody give me the state of the league going into the playoffs. i only ever watch avs games and see league standings, so i have no idea who's actually good and who isn't. for example, the florida panthers are good now? what? when did that happen?
Bruins are going to win
Ew. Fuck Boston. But at least I could be happy for Bergeron, their only redeeming player.
wordsother, longer words
I'm still upset about the Celtics choking away the title.
I was a bit worried Vasy was going to go full eyes-wide-open-goalie-robot- mode and steal the series
i am extremely here for watching the broncos collapse just four weeks into wilson's contract
The primary peak sitting at ~ -0.75 EPA seemed a bit weird that it was so consistent
